Disclaimer: I’ve only been here for large party events, and so that’s what this review reflects. Each time I’ve been here, our large party(20+ people) has been extremely happy. Obviously, we had reservations, and didn’t have to wait to be seated when we arrived. Some of us got there early and enjoyed a beverage on the front porch– the weather was beautiful on each of my visits– which was just lovely. The servers have always been friendly and attentive. Some unique dietary needs(severe allergies) were happily accommodated with a smile. The portions are huge! Not one person was able to finish their food; leftovers the next night were quite tasty! There were also a variety of adult beverages– from a nice beer and wine selection to a delicious, unique seasonal mixed drink menu. I’m quite looking forward to my next visit to Dover and this yummy food!

Worst service ever. Had to walk out. Stood at the bar twenty minutes to get a drink. Bartender was saving seats for people at the bar so I was told I couldn’t sit when people got up right in front of me. We were told two parties in front of us for a table. Watched two parties get seated went and asked again and told still two parties ahead of us! Finally walked out.

Patty B’s is a great Italian restaurant. There are many in the area but this place is right at the top of the list. The food is excellent and everything comes in HUGE portions. Everything has a great, home-cooked feel to it. They’ve got a decent beer selection(nothing out of the ordinary) and an amazing dessert case. It’s hard to pass up the cheesecake. The atmosphere is pleasant and the service is excellent. We’ve also gotten takeout and the food has been hot and fresh once we get home. Prices are good and at the lower end compared to other Italian restaurants in the area.

If you want to wait at least a half hour for very mediocre Italian and over priced drinks, this is your place. New to the area, I was excited to try Patty B’s. Heard some local buzz. I walked in to a chaotic restaurant scene and was never greeted by ANY of the staff, but was asked to move for staff a few times in the crowded corridor with no seating. I had no clue where to leave a name for a table. So after 10 minutes, my boyfriend and I finally grabbed a waitress and gave a name. You leave your name at the pastry counter, if that helps. My bf and I were given a wait time of 30 – 35 mins. We got to stand and wait 50 minutes for a table, still waiting on faith that the food would be amazing. We watched two other separate couples walk out and leave after their wait time went considerably over the time given by wait staff. The food was absolutely average. My eggplant parm was left unfinished because I’m not a fan of ultra thin slices of eggplant that are slimy, soggy, and unsubstantial. My bf’s steak was incredibly fatty. So, so disappointed. I’m angry I wasted that time and money. Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone and we certainly won’t be back.

I had a wonderful experience at party bs. The pasta was really good and the sauce wasn’t overwhelmingly garlicky. I liked the atmosphere and the dessert case looked spectacular. Usually I expect there to be a choice to get bread to start without garlic, but the garlic bread was fine. Most Italian restaurants do serve bread though so I thought it was a little odd.

We have been going here since they were in downtown Dover. We’ve never had a bad meal and the prices are very reasonable. Big fans of the bruschetta and eggplant parm. Definitely recommend making reservations for dinner on the weekends(and even sometimes during the week) as this place is always busy(but the service is always great and quick).

Patty B’s surprised me because of the simple interior, menu and décor. The food would keep me coming back if I lived in the area. I had the scampi with grilled chicken in a bowl two times the size of my head. Be warned, come hungry! It takes a lot for me to be happy with gluten free pasta, the sauce and the protein. One or the other usually is not up to snuff or just down right disappointing but all three were simply delicious. Don’t come here expecting fancy or anything extra, sadly no spinach or broccoli on the menu. My healthy meal plan went out the window as soon as I saw the menu. This is simply a no frills Italian restaurant. I ate the whole bowl of pasta with no regrets unless you count the scale the next day but who is looking. Right!!! Enjoy

What a wonderful surprise. Really good Italian. If you like your eggplant sliced thin with a flavorful sauce, then you have got to try their Eggplant Parm. Had the wings, they were tasty. Got some cookies to go since we were all stuffed. The décor was fresh and comfortable and the kitchen was super clean(open kitchen). If you live out that way save the time driving into Portsmouth and eat here.

This is our first visit to Patty B’s. A true gem. We were served by Robin who was the greatest. The food was extremely tasty and a large portion and the prices were reasonable. We plan on making another stop to try some of the other dishes. My husband had Pancetta Caronara and I had Fra Diavolo. Check out the pictures.

Just arrived from Las Vegas and had to eat here. Great warm staff. Felt like being at home with friends. The eggplant and lasagna were awesome. Did I mention the kalhua cake and cannolis were amazing.

The food is packed with flavor and the servings are out of this world. The bread is fresh garlic bread and there’s plenty to go around! Patty and her husband walk around asking how everything tastes etc which shows initiative and the care for their guests!

Your basic Italian restaurant with standard fare: spaghetti and meatballs, eggplant parm etc. Very reasonable prices and relaxed atmosphere. Staff is super helpful and accommodating. Food is fair — not bad but nothing exceptional.

My husband and I have ordered takeout from here two times. The rigatoni dinner is wonderful. However, the last time we went we dined in their new location. My chicken marsala was not fully cooked. I noticed a teenage boy manning the stove and was convinced it was him. I did not have it sent back(my husband was not happy with me). I’ll go again because I liked the rigatoni that much, but no poultry for me.

I’ve been here 3 times and each time I walk out forgetting I was in Dover. This place is a real gem for this town. The service is great, the food is delicious! It has outside seating which I can’t wait to partake in when it is warmer out. For food– the bruschetta is awesome. I would also recommend the chicken marsala with sun dried tomato risotto, the eggplant parm, and the lasagna. For dessert you MUST get the cheesecake — OMG! Patty has been there every time we’ve gone which is always nice to see. Compliments on creating a amazing restaurant in Dover. It was much needed! :)

Love this place! Went once when they were in the old location, and the service and food were excellent. Now with the new location, this has become an immediate local favorite. The waitstaff is friendly and accommodating, and the atmosphere is relaxed and casual. Definitely great for the family or for a date night.

This update has nothing to do with the experience I had a few days ago. It has to do with the recovery of a bad experience. Thank you for personally coming to my work to discuss our concerns. It takes a strong woman to do this and I appreciate the fact that you made things right.

Food is great and I would have no problem giving 5 stars had it not been for the service. I travel to this area for business and have been a few times actually. It tends to get busy at lunch and dinner but they need at least two more servers on staff during these times. When you have a bar with seating at the bar you need a bartender. Bar was crowded(as was the rest of the place) and he left and was not seen for about 10 minutes. A waitress came to the bar and we asked where he was and she said«Helping Patty Cook» is he bartending and serving or cooking? Anyways food and desserts are 5 star hire some more help and you will have it right ! Servers are cheap to add to staff as they make a small hourly wage I would suggest a few more.

Best Italian food in town, on par with Boston’s north end! Don’t expect canned here, the bolognese sauce is to die for. Don’t forget a cannoli when done!

We love the place! The food has been very good, the service is on the spot and the atmosphere is family dining and smiles. I have been twice since I like to reserve opinions until the second visit. Both trips have been great with some of the better Italian cuisine this side of the North End. The prices are reasonable because the portions are huge! The deserts are amazing too! If you want Italian and are in the area, Patty B’s is the best choice you can make. You hopefully will not regret it!!!

Bullet point review: –Nice presentation inside: relax music, dim lights, glass display in front of the door with cakes and Italian pastries –Simple and sufficient menu –Service slow, even if less than half full –Appetizer list lacking, not much variety –Steak fries only a little better than frozen, so lightly sprinkled with garlic I couldn’t taste it; came out very hot –Salad fairly fresh, had some pieces I didn’t care for but I was happy there were no olives –Bar fairly decorative –Cute sign that says«Your mom called… she wants a Patty B gift certificate!» –Spacious, more seating outside including chairs –Moderate to expensive menu: $ 4.25 garden salad, $ 7.50 chicken salad on a spinach wrap my dining partner got –Place is okay, but not particularly special

Amazing food and good dining experience! From the moment we stepped out of the car, the scent of garlic greeted us. This gave us some insight as to what to expect. True to delectable aroma the food was amazing and the service was very friendly! And a plentiful array if wines and sweets does not hurt to round off our first dining experience! The highlight for me was how brilliant the food was all the way down to the simple but amazing garlic-bread!!! We will definitely be frequenting here again in the near future. Thank you Patty Bs!

It’s so totally unfair! I have sent an update to Unilocal(Patty B’s new address), and 3 weeks later Unilocal indeed had updated the record, but instead of simple address change they have created a totally new entry for our beloved restaurant. That action made all 39 previous reviews with the highest average Dover rating of 4.8 simply disappear. The old entry is here:
