I have stopped here many times before and had excellent food. This time was awful. My fajita wrap consisted of chunks of barely warm unseasoned chicken, Swiss cheese, ice berg lettuce and chunks of raw onion and green pepper. No one in my group ate more than a fourth of their sandwiches. One person’s sandwich included an item that she specifically excluded because of an allergy. Plus it was freezing inside.

Went here for sunday morning coffee. We found a very inviting venue and nice staff. My bacon and egg sandwich was hot and well-prepared, and the coffee itself was excellent. A wonderful place for a quiet sunday.

I hadn’t been here in about 4 years, but found myself in town on business and in need of food and caffeination. Legitimate breakfast sandwich, great coffee, friendly staff and a nice laid back atmosphere.

the dining room is wonderfully set up, with great window seats looking out on downtown Dover. unfortunately, that’s all the positive things I can say about Café on the Corner. the coffee is bland, and the food is even worse. not sure what happened to my latte, maybe the steamer was broken? anyways, skip this place and head down the street to Adelle’s.

Very laid back setting. We got the french toast and WOW it was so good. Very authentic tasting. The fruit smoothies are really good as well. It’s such a cute little place to get a simple breakfast. We will definitely be going there again. My favorite french toast around so far. Very reasonably priced. Awesome find!!!

Place is okay. Speciality coffee tastes good. They leave a little too much room in the cup for the price but overall not bad. Internet seemed to log the user out fairly quickly but it worked well. The ambiance is great though and fairly decent parking around in the midday at least.

Not a bad place to spend a Saturday afternoon! Casual ambiance, wide selection, friendly service. It’s not going to knock your socks off, but it’s a comfortable place to go in Dover.

tried this for the first time and while the décor is cute and the seating is ample, the coffee is not very good. –also heard from co-workers that they don’t recycle– i had the pumpkin(flavor shot not brewed) and it was neither strong nor tasty. with so many other coffee shops around i will get my fix somewhere else from now on(adelle’s). i might add i only go for black, sometimes flavored coffee – not food or specialty drinks so i’m missing out on some of the aspects of the café, but i was still disappointed.

Meh is right. The coffee is okay, but the waitstaff isn’t friendly and the place never really feels that clean.

I don’t know what the deal is with this place but it smells horrendous when you walk in. The smell alone will keep me away!

Had lunch here for the second time in an many days — menu is simple — nutritious offerings as well as burgers — plenty of seating and the place seems clean. Today I ordered a garden salad with chicken — i was the only second order in the system and it took about 15 minutes to get my to go order as I had to wait for the cook to speak with her Mom who was dropping something off for her –then when i got back to the office i discovered a long blond hair — from the cook — accccessorizing my garden salad. For $ 10 i could get a better lunch with better service.

I stopped in here one morning for some caffeine and to hang out and work for a while on my MacBook Pro. Ordered a triple shot iced latte with whole milk and sugar free vanilla. I went to find a table to sit at and set up shop. The Barista ran my drink right over to my table just as I was preparing to head back up to the counter to check on my drink! There is a decent amount of seating in here. I managed to find a table close to electrical outlets so I could plug in and charge. I thought they offered free Wifi — although after reading one of the other reviews — I’m not sure if the Wifi was theirs or not — in any case the connection I found was a bit on the slow side. It was a bit warm on the day I visited — and the AC was working very well — so the café was cool and comfortable. Nice ambiance, good service, and a strong, tasty drink!

Do not bother applying if you are not an «attractive» young female. Males in general and«unattractive» females are not wanted. Dropped off an application last week at the same time as another person(a slightly overweight woman) and a friend was there with her boyfriend sitting and drinking a coffee. She texted me shortly after I left to inform me they threw away BOTH of our applications after we left and laughed about their«no penis behind the counter» rule and how gross the girl looked. Absolutely disgusting that things like this happen in this day and age. The owner continually flags this post and has even sent me emails to continue harassing me. Please be aware of the terrible establishment we have in our very own town of Dover and STOP supporting it. I saw this on so I figured I would share the truth about this place.

Nice atmosphere. The employees are very nice and they have board games. Plenty of places to sit and relax and they make an excellent cappuccino. I will definitely be coming back next time I’m in town.

After reading the other reviews I feel compelled to give the Café on the Corner a little credit. I love going there and I know what to get and what not to get. I love the décor. The sofas are inviting and the place is tasteful. There is outdoor seating and you can have a dog with you. You can sit and chat there all day and no one bothers you. I’ve had some of the most intense discussion of my life in the window seat and I’ve also done LOTS of homework there. The coffee used to really suck but it’s improved. Maybe they have learned to clean the canisters. I would not eat most of the desserts. You can get a biscotti since they don’t make those. As far as rudeness, over the last several years i have never had a problem. Perhaps it is like the French Canadians. They rude if you’re rude to them. I always get a smile and polite service. I’m curious if those who gave the café 1 start would like to see it close and perhaps see a bank or a check cashing store go in its place?

Didn’t try the coffee, so this rating is probably artificially high. My husband and I had some time to kill before we’d be hungry for dinner, so we came in here and he got a fruit smoothie. It was pretty terrible– tasted like sweet tarts with extra sugar blended in. Unlike other reviewers, I found the staff medium-friendly(maybe I am just used to New Yorkers?). I bought a tiny 3-cup french press(so cute!) which I noticed was priced well below retail(retail is $ 23 for this size, it’s $ 17 on Amazon, and COTC had it for $ 15). The only thing that bumps it up to 3 stars is the selection of board games. Even though the drink wasn’t good, and the girl behind the counter gave me the wrong color press(luckily I checked the box before we left and switched it out), we hung out for a good half hour and played Battleship. It let us slowly work up the appetite for dinner, so by the time I had won we were ready to eat. I don’t think I’d go back, but it definitely isn’t the worst coffee shop I’ve been to– by a long shot.

I will admit I did give Café on the Corner a lot of business for many years– until Adelle’s came along of course(and seemingly all of my favorite staff at Café went over to Adelle’s, interesting). But honestly– the prices are ridiculous for coffee that is bland, food that is bland and borderline disgusting, and employees that are rude, inappropriate and unprofessional. Employees that say rude things about customers right in front of them. Employees that are condescending. Employees that have a «high and mighty» attitude for no reason. Example: I ordered a coffee and also asked if they had any peanut butter cookies. She said«not up here but I’ll check out back» and rang me up. She didn’t end up having any so I said«ok I’ll just get the coffee then». She scoffed and acted like I was being out of line for making her ring me up again. I KNOWITSSODIFFICULT. Ugh that place makes me cringe.

A prime case of misnaming a business as this should be called Café on the Verge. After eating breakfast from here I was literally on the verge of vomiting. Walking in it seemed like a nice enough place(although what sort of self respecting coffee shop has leather couches?) There wasn’t a large line and so it was simple to order a coffee cake and a bagel sandwich with some water. There were two young ladies working there and an older man(who seemed to be the manager). One lady took the order and the other then went ahead and got it. For the coffee cake this did not work as they gave me a different kind than I ordered. It would have been worthwhile complaining but the one who got the food dropped it on the counter and then stormed away to get another order. Our food was ready in just a couple minutes and we paid and sat down. Folks, if you are going to charge money for food it had better not a) be something you could easily make at home and b) suck. Both of ours could easily have been made at home and both of ours sucked. My coffee cake was solid, I’m talking at least a week old solid. Flavorless mounds of sugar covered the top and it literally made me ill within minutes of finishing the half I could stomach. The bagel sandwich was made on a Lender’s bagel(which they didn’t even try to hide — how would you react if you went to a pizza place and they served you Elio’s pizza?) It was a garden burger basically, only not even a homemade one(let alone a good brand). Don’t even get me started on the fact that the trash can and plate collection area are on opposite sides of the main entrance of the place, causing a huge traffic jam there… These things all make this a terrible bakery but there is something even worse. The staff was horrible. I’m talking incompetent, rude, and in general just unacceptable. A woman a few people behind us had the GALL to say that she would like someone working there to use a napkin to pick up her bagel since they had just been handling money(common sense folks, money is gross, food shouldn’t be, use gloves or napkins) and the employee response? She scoffed. I don’t like vulgarities so I won’t share the word I thought about her when she did this but it wasn’t anything nice. And then when the woman paid and walked away she had the nerve to joke about her to the other employee and the manager INFRONTOFCUSTOMERS. Honestly the worst bakery I have ever been to. I’m unimpressed with your Obama photos on the wall. I only feel bad because he probably had to act like he enjoyed your food so that you would vote for him. Shoulda gone to Duston’s…

Maybe the place has changed recently, but when I went just yesterday it was neither dirty, nor crowded with any kind of religious regalia, or anything like that. Either it changed management, or changed its practices, or the reviews given were just plain inaccurate. Anyways, the coffee was pretty good… the menu items were overpriced but tasty, the environment quiet yet inviting, and the seats comfortable. Only the second of those four items holds true for a place like Starbucks… so given that, I’d go with the local business that provides a better environment. Starbucks does have one thing over them, in that Café on the Corner has no internet access that I could find. If there was, I couldn’t access it with my device. But in the end, I’m not going to cry for the loss of it. The atmosphere was good enough to make up for it.

Great place if you like cops and mediocre coffee. Easy enough to be anonymous with a book and some headphones yet I am surprised they still don’t have wireless! Sadly so the spot is on really good real estate where I bet that if it fell into the right hands great things could be made of it…
