This review is for last night. I came in with my boyfriend for a nightcap, and I’m glad we did. Gretchen was working, def one of my fav bartenders of all time… and she never disappoints. I stand by what I said before… forget dining in, the bar is where it’s at! Gretchen, u are the only reason I still come here!

It’s a typical neighborhood bar. The service is good. The food is solid. Pizza, Mac and cheese, fish, I’m not left disappointed. The biggest thing for me is how clean the bathroom is. It easily had the most pristine bathroom I’ve ever seen in a bar. Arguably the cleanest bathroom I’ve seen period. It enhances the experience for me greatly. It’s a nice spot to kick it with friends and down a few beers.

Been here a handful of times and can’t say they’ve pushed the needle beyond average. It has a decent size bar along with tables in the bar area as well as an additional dining area in the back. Always a good mix of people and the food’s not so bad either. The nachos are always packed through the layers and delicious, their steak salad is a winner, and their pizza is great, but not a huge fan of the BBQ chicken pizza, too much sauce. Drinks are decent, and they have keno which is always a plus!

Have been the harp and bars a few times and really enjoyed it. So much so that when my family came to town I brought them all there. Unfortunately, they couldn’t accommodate the number of people in the restaurant and we had to leave after being there for an hour and a half after being told putting in an order would take another hour. It was embarrassing for me as I had to tell my family that it’s been good before!

I just can’t believe I paid $ 3 extra dollars to substitute the chicken to shrimp and was only given 3 pieces of shrimp! That’s so disrespectful… If that’s the case they should have just kept the chicken in the dish and just added the 3 pieces and I would have given the chicken to a co-worker or something. Doubt I’ll ever order lunch during my lunch break from work from harp and bard ever again… So much for protein

Bar was packed for a Tuesday night. Gretchen was great. Very welcoming! I enjoyed the garlic broth and mussels for $ 12 and turkey club sandwich and fries. Pino Noir was good too. I’ll return this week!

The harp and bard is an amazing place. Great atmosphere, great food and greater people. Held an event there and the staff, from the owner down to the bar backs couldn’t have been more professional and accommodating. On any random day when you walk in you will be treated like family. It’s a great pub in the heart of Dorchester, that provides many beers on tap and a menu that will satisfy whatever you crave. Nothing negative to say, go see for yourself.

The food is mediocre but the owner is a total idiot with no sense of service. The servers are fine and quite pleasant. He is simply a rude jerk. If you can go when he is not there you may enjoy it more. Onward for me.

Come in every weekend to watch football. Tip well, staff enjoys us. But the owner is a complete ass. Completely rude when our party didn’t get here in time. And despite having a dozen TVs, was adamant about playing the same game on all of them. Consider this my last time.

I came in on Sunday for brunch with a friend on the recommendation of my roommate. We were seated and greeted immediately. We each ordered a mimosa and I ordered a tomato juice. It was listed on the menu but apparently they don’t offer it so I got a cranberry juice. For about twenty minutes(and all times here are no exaggeration, we kept track of time) we sat and waited to have our order taken. Our waitress walked by often and served nearby tables but completely forgot about us. The other 2 – 3 waitresses on the floor, including the one who sat us, also ignored us and continually walked by. After awhile we put our menus to the end of the table in a stack.(A universal signal that we are ready to order since just waiting for service seemed to not work). Our waitress immediately rushed by, grabbing our menus and walking away. At this point I got up, walked to their ordering station and asked her to come over to take our order. She was very friendly the whole time, but did explain to me she thought another waitress had taken our order. Needless to say, the waitstaff was disorganized. After putting in our order we waited roughly 40 minutes for food. I will say that the restaurant was full but not packed and there was no wait to be seated. The food we received was mediocre at best. My tater tots were cold and my veggie omlette was ok but under seasoned. My friend said her huevos rancheros was ok but not great. We were both way too hungry to bother complaining at this point. I also needed ketchup for my tots and after waiting until I had eaten everything else on my plate finally had to flag down and ask a random waitress for some. The icing on the cake was watching one of the waitstaff, a middle aged blonde, literally chug a mimosa at the bar. I wish I was making this up. Maybe that’s why the waitstaff was so disorganized? We asked for the bill early and luckily were cashed out fairly quickly. 2 stars are for the decent food, good drinks, and clean and cutely decorated(for Halloween) atmosphere. But overall, I would not go again.

This is my go to place in the area. I enjoy sitting at the bar because Gretchen is AWESOME. A great Sunday Funday place to watch the Pats, have brunch and be around a fun crowd. The steak tips and Buffalo Chicken Mac and Cheese are my favs!

This place is fun. Plain and simple. The bar is always busy(the«we’re obviously at a popular place busy,» not the«the owner is too cheap to hire more help,» busy.) The bartenders are always fast and friendly. The food has never disappointed and is very cheaply priced. There are plenty of TV’s to catch a game. I’ve spent a few Sunday’s here. This is the best place to catch a game in North Dorchester. Everything is clean, updated and organized. Highly recommended.

Went to this restaurant on a Friday night and there was actually no wait. The food is very tasty. I got the queen size prime rib and couldn’t finish it because the portion was big. Another item that caught my eye that a party of mine got was the cheeseburger with a fried egg. The drinks are typical, nothing special. The only bad thing I could say about this place is the wait for our food was pretty long and there is no parking or at least I didn’t see any.

The Harp and Bard is a great local restaurant and bar. I’ve been there many times over many years. The staff is great, especially Gretchen and Nicole at the bar. No matter how busy it gets, they can handle the volume. Go for dinner, drinks, or Keno. All the food is great, and I recommend the meat lovers pizza with, of course a cold beer!

I’ve visited a couple times now and there is a reason I keep going back… the food is delicious. I have to rave about their pizza. I don’t know how they make their crust, but I hope they never change it bc it’s so darn good. Thin and crispy — just perfect. I highly recommend it! And the tots — they’re a must with any meal!

After a long winter, it’s been nice to walk around and actually try the restaurants I’ve been meaning to! We brought an out of town friend to Harp and Bard for dinner on a Thursday night. Not too crowded and lots of TVs if you’re hoping to catch the game. Out waitress was friendly and quick with the drinks(two Magners and few beers). We split fried pickles and tater tots. The pickles come with a dipping sauce and really, can you go wrong with pickles? I got a salad, as did my friend. My husband got a sandwich. They were solid but nothing to write home about. Still, looking forward to going back and exploring the extensive menu!

Good solid pub food backed by a solid pour of whiskey. The portions are gigantic if somewhat unremarkable. The atmosphere is lively but not so much that you can not carry on a conversation. Service is excellent.

Very good neighborhood place. After 10 years of great experiences here, we had one very unpleasant experience. I have to say, I am very impressed by the managements response.

Harp and Bard is a neighborhood gem. The scene is sports bar pub perfection. My girlfriend and I recently moved to Jones hill and tried a short walk through snow to grab drinks and dinner. We weren’t disappointed. The staff was friendly and efficient. We had wings and steak tips; both delicious. We have made this our spot. Pizza is excellent, as are most menu items. My college aged girls and boyfriends joined us late Friday night and HB was accommodating. The food always comes out fast and as ordered and the beer is always cold. Brunch was really great. I lived in the south end for 2 years and although the vibe and eats may not be as eclectic, but price and quality were as good or better. Happy to have bought in this developing area and HB is one of the reasons.

Came here after work and I don’t think I’ll be back. Both of our meals were something we could have easily made at home. However, the mozzarella appetizer was AMAZING. Service was fine. I got a skinny margarita to drink and it was a bit odd because they squeezed the lime in it and the pulp was just sitting in the bottom of the drink which made it hard to drink and the type of glass was too tall.
