Smoked prime rib French dip… great sandwich. Service has room for improvement. Pretty busy for the small size of the place may want to consider another waitress. Everyone was really nice just busy.

My wife and I stopped here with a group of 20 Harley riders. They were very accommodating. We ordered chili and split a burger with fries. Both were good and service was very quick. Worth a stop when you are in the area.

Excellent, friendly, attentive bartenders. What a cute tiny little pub! Off the main strip in Dixon, The Shamrock is a perfect place to stop in and have a drink! We didn’t eat, so I can’t speak about the food, but they do have a full menu of bar favorites, burgers and sandwiches. I hope to stop back by someday if my travels lead me in the Dixon direction again!

Ordered salad which cost 1.75 which consisted of only shredded lettace with a tiny bit of dressing. My burger looked good but had very little flavor which took over 35 minutes to cook. It sat on top waiting for server to grab so it was just warm instead hot just off the grill. I would not go back again food priced too high for quality served.

While driving by Dixon, Illinois, we checked Unilocal for food options. The Shamrock Pub got pretty good reviews so we opted to give it a try. When you first come up on it, it is not the most modern looking structure. In fact, it is quite small and needs to be updated and painted. Going inside really isn’t much better. The Shamrock Pub is small and Guy Fieri would probably classify it as a «dive». However, the service was great. The concern they show for the quality of their food beats many other places I’ve given great ratings to, and the food itself was great. The ambiance of the«divey» nature gives character to the place. They have a fairly small menu with some variety in it. My wife ordered a grilled cheese with bacon, I ordered a simple hamburger with fries. My son ordered the veggie burger. The server was the owners wife(I think) and was really friendly. We tried to order a basket of their homemade chips, but unfortunately they were out of them. The food arrived quickly, but she only brought the burgers. The owner/chef accidentally broke the bread on the grilled cheese and did not want to serve it that way. To compensate she brought a basket of the chips they were out of. Apparently, they only serve unbroken chips. These were broken, but were as large as any you’d get in a store. They use large Idaho potatoes — these were about three inches in length. From what she described, they are usually over five inches. But to us they tasted great. The grilled cheese came quickly after that. We talked to the waitress a lot about the history of their business and about Dixon in general, which was very interesting. The business itself appears to have a lot of regulars at the bar who all were having a great time. A couple of days a week they offer a Bloody Mary bar, where you make your own. We missed the day, but they keep the set up and the owner makes the Bloody Marys right there. We had a chance to look it over where they have lots of different pickled items to add, three or four different Bloody Mary mixes and even small sausages to add. All-in-all, this was a great place. They told us that their business has picked up a lot since they were added to Unilocal.Yay Unilocalers — keep it up. This was a lot of fun, and the food was excellent. We’d been driving over seven hours by the time we got there and still had two more to go, so alcohol was not an option. But we did add to our bucket list a trip to Dixon to see the sights and to go back to the Shamrock for Bloody Mary night.

A group of us were in Dixon for a wedding and needed a place to grab a pre wedding lunch. We weren’t disappointed. Are you going to get a gourmet meal? No. But you will get a good meal with great service and and a friendly staff. Make sure you grab an order of the potato chips(homemade).

We found this place while visiting Dixon for a friend’s wedding. The highlights of my meal were the fried pickles(some of the best I’ve ever had) and homemade potato chips. As a sign says in the restaurant, «You’re only a stranger here once!» Great spot for good diner food at a great price!

Are you looking for a killer burger without pretension or a hefty price tag? Then get your tookus over to the Shamrock. This place is a Dixon institution. The people who go here don’t go for the ambience or the latest trendy foodstuff. They go because the food is great and the waitstaff is friendly. Oh, and they serve their beer in frosted goblets, which makes my Bud Light feel a little more special. For years, my dad has raved abotu the Southwinds burger, which is a burger with a piece of ham and I believe some cheese piled on. I’m a fan of their extensive appetizer menu(fried pickles! fried cheese curds with jalapenos!) and I love that I’m getting a solid meal at a really fair price. My mom, dad and I went to the Shamrock for dinner on Saturday and between the three of us enjoyed three entrees and five beers — for a measly $ 25. Awesome!
