The service was outstanding, everyone was really nice. There was definitely a hometown family feel as soon as I walked in. I ordered the brisket, baked beans, and potato salad. The brisket was average, it didn’t have much of a smoked flavor but it was tender. The baked beans were the best, very flavorful. The potato salad was very bland. I plan to visit again and try other menu items. I am from the mid-west so my views on the brisket could just be personal preference, especially when it comes to the sauce. If you are in the area I recommend that you give it a try.

The first two times we ate there it was fine. We ate there this weekend And i got more fat than pork on my sandwich, because the closest it got to smoke was if some fat spilled in oven it was baked in, definitely not Bar-B-Que. To top that they went up about two dollars on a lot of their menu items. I got chips with my sandwich and was charged $ 1.37 for a 50 cent bag of potato chips they tossed on the plate. Service was okay, but food was dismal. Don’t waste your time stopping there if you are looking for a decent meal.

Clean, homey, on highway. Across from Pilot Truckstop. Waitstaff pleasant, customers mostly local. Excellent breakfast. Fish was excellent. Pancakes good, but average. Eggs cooked to specifications. Grits, great, apples good, if you like cooked raisins. Virginia Ham pretty good. Very pleasant waitstaff.

2 years later and we had breakfast here on an early Saturday morning. My breakfast for 6.99 include 3 very good pancakes, 2 eggs cooked perfectly over medium, 2 good sausage patties and a bowl of mediocre at best grits. Good food and a good value. The other meal was silver dollar pancakes which were also very good and there were 6 of them for 4.39 but then a side order of 3 strips of bacon was also 4.39. I questioned that amount but was told that is what it is. So my caution to diners here is to carefully read the menu and don’t assume something as ordinary as bacon will be reasonable! The coffee was OK. The service was friendly and the menu is large so it has something for everyone.

Always stop here when delivering in the area. Right across the street from the Pilot truckstop. Great bbq, love the pork nachos. It’s an appetizer, but is enough for a meal. Friendly and quick service.

Passed by this place a lot going to the beach. Decided to stop on Labor day going home. The pork BBQ was tasty and you get a very generous portion for the $. Was excited to see collard greens as a side but a little disappointed they were a bit too spicy for my taste. Our other sides were really good. Hush puppies were real homemade. Glad we finally tried it.

Stopped in was surprised and how friendly the staff was. The older lady who I presumed was the owner made sure that we were taken care of. The barbecue here was typical for the area and was quite good. Dessert was the best however. They keep an assortment of homemade pies and cakes and they were irresistible. My Co worker liked the place so much he came back the next day for more.

We get off the highway just to come here whenever we’re in town. Fresh fried okra, amazing minced bbq, tangy coleslaw and good sweet tea. Friendly service!

We travel with a 15 month old. The high chair was clean and fitted with a cracker and two tootsie rolls, what a nice touch. The hush puppies are worth stopping for on their own. I bought their homemade sauce they use which I never do but the sauce is that good. A half rack platter was almost too much food for two people. Stop in here it is worth it. Also for pie and dessert it is worth stopping here for sure their coconut pie was amazing really fluffy and amazing.

Very good food. Good to Great service. They need to invest in the abandoned shop next door to make their parking better as it is now horrible with the large amount of traffic.

Finally checked this place out for dinner. The wait staff was extremely short/rude/teenage attitude. Food was extremely tasty. 4 ate the following: Half rack of ribs, collards, Mac and cheese. Half rack is enormous. The rest was hot and well seasoned. Odd that I found cellophane/clingwrap under the ribs when I put my leftovers away. Seafood platter: 2 large pieces of catfish, about 6 or 8 butterflied shrimp and a crab cake. Mashed potatoes and mac n cheese. Pork BBQ platter with hush puppies and baked beans. NCBBQ. Pork chops with gravy and onions. Gravy was thinner than the southern boy is used to but definitely not canned. He had hushpuppies and mac n cheese. Overall food was more than plentiful and delicious.

We stopped here for lunch on the way to the beach. They do a pretty good lunch business from the looks of it. It’s not a fancy place but looked clean. The employees were nice. The specials included a «Lunch Plate» with choice of chicken, tuna or egg salad plus several other items. I ordered the egg salad. Our waitress asked«chicken salad?» «No, egg salad, please.» She wrote down egg salad but the plate arrived with chicken salad. Not sure what that was about. The food was OK. My traveling partner had the brisket sandwich with fries and it was OK. Not great but better than a lot of fast food. The ladies room went out of service for cleaning or something just as we were getting ready to leave so I had to stop somewhere else down the road.

My family and I ordered barbecue sandwiches and beans. My father in law(the bbq connoisseur) and the rest of the family liked the flavor(I thought it was ok). Immediately all of the meat fell off the bun and it was a challenge keeping it in after that, which was a bit frustrating. We all agreed that the chop was too fine and the meat needed sauce or slaw on top because it was very dry. The beans weren’t bad, but nothing to write home about. The restaurant itself was pretty casual. Big screen tv with the news on. The type of tables that always look like they would be sticky. Some kitsch on the walls. Clean bathroom. Peanut samples on the counter were nice. Overall it was not bad, a welcome alternative to fast food. I don’t think I would drive out of my way to go there but it’s a good place to stop if you’re nearby.

I gave 3 stars because I’m used to southern style BBQ. It’s not what I’m used to. I really like to their for the breakfast.

Worst BBQ I’ve ever had. Driest, most flavorless meat(tried the ribs and minced pork) that has ever passed these lips. After over a hundred BBQ eats, that’s saying something, and that something is, don’t eat here. Excellent jalapeño hush puppies and service.

The restaurant is a little out of the way, but well worth the drive. The staff was friendly and precise with our order. The minced BBQ was some of the best around, and the sides weren’t too bad either. Please leave room for their deserts because it’s the perfect ending to a great meal.

Another family owned small business BBQ pit that does it well and is certainly more enjoyable than some chain outfit. Prince George looks like a local’s favorite but also attracts business from travelers along route 460 as well as the location near to the interstate. Inside is a diner feel with no frills cafeteria style tableware and furnishings. As with most businesses in the area, there is an assortment of peanut related gifts to purchase if you find yourself in need of that sort of thing. The food… The BBQ is 5 star on reasonable price and on quality and taste with respect to the meat. One dish we ordered was the half BBQ chicken. It was well cooked to the bone and very tender with the BBQ flavoring penetrating deep into the birds flesh. It was accompanied with a blasie garden salad(but we came for BBQ not rabbit food) and a square of yummy cornbread. It was well worth the order. The sliced BBQ Beef Brisket sandwich was devoured with mixed feelings on the review. The meat itself was fairly well prepared and flavorful, sliced in quarter inch slabs the meat was served dry leaving you to decide how much of their signature BBQ sauce to add. The downer of the sandwich was the«wonder bread» hamburger bun it was served on… blah. And because I guess they thought the white bread factory bun wasn’t enough, they included a smooshed«wonderbread» dinner roll on the side(you can’t make that up). We also had a side of hush puppies. These were nearly twice the diameter of most I’ve had but the odd preparation did not detract from the flavor. They were a very savory accompaniment to the BBQ. Overall, Prince George is well work the visit for a BBQ lunch while traveling through. The staff was super friendly, the food inexpensive, the BBQ flavorful, and they even offered Veterans discounts.
