Very good/authentic food and quick service. The house plum juice is the best in the town. The spicy frog is also the best. Even it cost me $ 30 every time. Some of the dishes are over priced so hope they can adjust it some time. The cold dishes are good too. One of my favorite restaurant. And be careful they are really spicy but also really good food. They are other non-spicy food but not tried so no idea. And they charge for hot tea and rice so be alert. Server are good. They have two separate rooms but always booked long time ago. That’s it~ very happy to have such authentic Sichuan food in the town.

Food is good. Pricing is a bit outrageous: diamond bar tax… She wanted to come here for spicy dishes and she got served hahahaha. Not sure we will come back but sure it’s worth the try. Furniture and décor look good.

Last time I gave it 4 star and said I would go back and try other things. Well in my previous review I was hopeful, since it had just opened, I thought I would give it a second chance. This time we went back and try few different dishes, and unfortunately they weren’t very good. :(everything were just overly sweet. I’m so confused on how they can make such delicious pork with garlic sauce, but bad entrée dishes!!! Honesty I wanted this place to do well, it has such great décor that reminds me so much about my hometown. Oh well, guess I’ll drive out further for good sichuan food. Will not come back.

This is my first time here, the food portions are huge and tastes good. I came here around 5:30 so there wasn’t a lot of people and our order came out super fast. Defiantly would come back again.

I had an order to go today. One dish looks like different when I was eating in the restaurant. The green onion and jalapenos looked not fresh and re-cooked. Feeling so bad!!! It ruined my sunday dinner!!!

Liked everything we ordered except steamed fish. The waitress said it was bass. But it turned out to be a tilapia. A very small fish that costs us USD27. Too expensive! Do not order this fish.

This is a new modern Chinese restaurant. They had a pretty good lunch special. They do not serve the food family style so each dish came out on individual plates. The lunch special included white or fried rice and a choice of sweet and sour soup or corn soup. Overall good experience and good food. Next time we’ll come during dinner.

Old Chengdu has now become our niche restaurant in Diamond Bar. Prior to this, I had been waiting for the restaurant to open weeks before it held it’s grand opening! Keep in mind that it’s a relatively new restaurant, so if you encounter minor mishaps and hiccups here and there, give them time and the chance to adjust! To me, they have been great from the get-go, but my experiences seem to be better and better upon each visit!!! The owners and waiters have always been so conversant; they take time to personally engage customers, which is truly fantastic. I have not been to Chengdu in Sichuan Province, but a few of my immigrant Chinese friends who have been there have stated that the food at this establishment tastes exceptionally authentic and can be likened to restaurants in Chengdu! This restaurant SPECIALIZES in Sichuan style dishes. I’d recommend boiled spicy fish or the boiled spicy fish and beef, toothpick lamb, pickled vegetables with spicy pork, boiled wontons in spicy chili oil, dan dan mian, xo green beans, spicy ma-po tofu, two kinds(beef and kidney) in hot chili oil, & cold mung bean noodle in spicy chili oil. I have tried many other great dishes here, but the ones I listed were most memorable. Service here is always great. Unlike many Chinese places, the waiters and waitresses here are all really friendly! I also really like the open floor plan & the interior. The owners did a great job constructing the booth seating, central seating areas, private rooms, incorporating decorative details with the charming appeal of actual restaurants in Chengdu, and hiring the fantastic chef/chefs who specialize in Sichuan style cooking! If I could, I would give Old Chengdu more than 5 stars. Oh yeah… lastly, this place is also quite clean and tidy.

Flavors are good here. The dishes we ordered weren’t too greasy given it’s szechuan food. Very flavorful and great service too. I uploaded pictures of the 4 dishes we had. I’ll definitely come back here again!

Best chengdu food I ever tasted! We ordered sliced beef in cold chill sauce(a must try!), Sichuan style green bean noodles, taro chicken and sweet and sour pork. All were excellent! Very authentic, high quality, and very friendly service! Will come back again.

My first time dining in a Sichuan restaurant and all the food were great!!! They can adjust the level of spiciness of all the dishes. The atmosphere looks very authentic even if I haven’t been to China myself, nice décor all throughout the place and pleasant staff. Will definitely go back to try their other dish

I AMSOSOSOHAPPYTOHAVEDISCOVEREDTHISRESTAURANT! This is a new Sichuan restaurant in Diamond Bar and it is now my go-to restaurant. THEFOODHEREISSOOOOAUTHENTICANDGOOD. Perhaps, even better than Chengdu Taste and just down the street from me! Location — The restaurant is located on the corner of Grand and Diamond Bar Blvd. It is in the plaza with Round Table Pizza, El Pollo Loco, etc. I never used to come to this plaza but now it will be my go-to spot! Parking — The plaza is relatively big. There are a lot of different stores and because it isn’t the most popular plaza, there usually are a ton of spots! Food — The food was AMAZING. I know they just opened but I really hope they keep up the good work. For the starter, we had the Northern Sichuan Style Green Been Noodles. It was really good and the perfect spice level. For the main dishes, we had the Tilapia Fish Filets in Boiling Chili OIl — it was really good and came with noodles and mushrooms on the bottom. Not too spicy either! I also really liked the Frog Cooked in Dry Pot. The flavor was really amazing and the mushrooms that came with the pot was good also. Make sure you stir it so it doesn’t buy when it’s sitting on the small fire! We also had the Two Kinds in Hot Chili Oil — a signature Sichuan dish. We chose beef and kidney and both were flavorful and delicious. It was the perfect level of spicy and numbiness for me!!! Service — The service was great. I don’t know what most of the Unilocal reviewers are referring to. We got all of our dishes within 20 minutes. They checked on us numerous times. There were a ton of servers around to flag down. The owner herself even came to ask us for our feedback. It was great! They even gave every table a dessert for Father’s Day! Price — Each main dish is between $ 10-$ 15. It’s not cheap but definitely a LOT of food. Also, the price is normal compared to other Sichuan restaurants. For such great tasting food, it’s worth it. Ambiance — The other best part about this restaurant is the ambiance. I literally felt like I stepped into China when I entered. The décor and furniture and everything was really great. They even have two private rooms for large parties! Needless to say, I can’t wait to go back!

This is some of the best Sichuan for I’ve had in the states! If you’re not Chinese and you like spicy food then tell them to make it 地道(local style). I recommend 水煮鱼(boiled spicy fish), 泡菜肉丝(pickled vegetables with shredded pork), and 红油抄手(wontons in spicy sauce). The service is also great. All of the staff are very helpful and patiently help you decide what to eat. There are also many families that go there, they are child and screaming baby friendly!

New restaurant that just opened not long ago. They have very nice interior design and spacious eating area ++++ Service was very friendly and kept coming around asking for water refill. ++++ Now on to the food Mung bean noodle — + terrible. The texture of the noodle is flaky and floury. Cannot pick it up with chopsticks, forks or spoon! Everything just simply breaks off into pieces. Flavor is very single dimensional, with too much sesame oil. Toothpick lamb — ++ below average. Lamb pieces are a bit too big which makes it very chewy /difficult to chew, especially not processed well. Flavor is also very average — just spicy and salty. Sweet and sour pork — +++ small portion, large pieces of pork covered in sweet and sour sauce. It’s okay. Pork intestine dry pot — ++ tiny portion size and the intestine is covered with uneven pepper powder. While it is numbing on some pieces, some are just simply bland. «Saliva» chicken — + bland boiled chicken soaked in red chili oil. Upon biting, only tastes the oil covering your mouth, lightly salty, not at all spicy. Garlic sautéed Ong choy — + just a sad looking plate of oily and mushy Ong choy. Overall portion sizes are relatively small compared to the price. None of the dishes were memorable. Maybe I’ll come back to try one more time to check on other dishes after they are opened for a while.

I am sitting here to write this review now. I have been waiting for my food for 30 minutes and the waitress just walk in front of me saying that she forgot to put my orders in the system. Now I’m going to waiting another 30 minutes? I don’t expect to get good service in a Chinese restaurant but the service in this place is most horrible I ever seen. Now I am still waiting for my food… It doesn’t matter how good their food and decors are, I’m not coming back.

I am sitting here and have time to write this review because I’ve been waiting for my food for 30 minutes. The service is horrible. I had to flag the server down for refills of water while we waited for our food. Although I was excited for a chengdu restaurant in Diamond Bar, I cannot recommend it based on the bad service and slow food. As, I wrap up this review, my food still hasn’t come out and no one knows why. After 45 minutes and no food, I calmly expressed my anger to the owner. She was nice enough to compensate me for the bad experience and said she will work to improve and change things.
