Love this little coffee shop! I stop in frequently when I’m in the area – great coffee, Italian sodas and turkey club. I have tried several of the baked goods as well, I love the blueberry & lemon muffin.

Stopped in here just before a meeting. I couldn’t find a Starbucks to save my life and I’m glad now that I couldn’t! I should note that the location is nice, parking is ideal, and the décor is pleasant and clean. I got one of the best BLTs of my life. I also ordered a café breve, which was hot and creamy. The two ladies who took care of me at the counter gave me what I felt was attentive, personalized service and I really appreciated that. This is not a «curry in a hurry house». These people take their time. If I’m ever in Dexter again, I’ll make it a point to stop in!

They have gluten free bread for sandwiched and gluten free muffins! That’s enough for me to give them a great review — I was worried since Dexter is so small I would be too limited in eating out options, but this place surprised me + it’s cute to boot.

Absolutely perfect coffee and tea café! I love the atmosphere here — the space is very open and welcoming! Delicious coffee and great options for everyone to be satisfied. I love the self serve coffee style so the line keeps moving on a busy morning!

It was a few years ago, but upon reading others’ impressions, I thought I’d write a review as well. I was over 55 when I visited Joe and Rosie’s on invitation from my parents who live nearby. I grew up in Ann Arbor, worked in downtown Detroit, and have traveled a bit, so I’m no stranger to little coffee and tea shops in little towns, liberal college towns, and larger cities. I don’t have any expectations of locally owned, independent shops. This one is small. It’s delightfully decorated. It has tables and chairs, rather closely spaced. Arranged along a couple of walls are étagères holding various teapots and other tea or coffee-related items. My favorite sights were the teapots ranged around the shop, many of them wearing hand-made knit or crocheted tea cosies. One parent told me one of the owners is British and buys the teapots from an antique(or resale?) shop that’s also in Dexter. Note: my parents come here quite often. Now, Dexter used to be a basic, small, midwestern farming community with centennial farms and homes abounding. Some of the farms have been sold and rather large homes have been built in the fields surrounding Dexter. So there’s a mixture of people whose families have lived there for generations, and people who have moved there from elsewhere and possibly work in Ann Arbor or Detroit. The young woman who served me that day said she was from Dexter. She was friendly and helpful. The shop was quiet that day. It was early afternoon. My quibble has to do with accessibility for my dad, who at the time had a three-pronged cane. There were too many chair legs and shelving legs and other hazards for him to park the cane safely out of the way, but we managed. Again, dad comes here often, so it obviously wasn’t a big concern for him, but the rest of us kept an eye on that cane! I wished they’d had a better and bigger selection of plain, sesame seed, egg, or poppy seed bagels, but that’s just my preference. I noticed the shop has a web site and full beverage and food menus are posted there. All in all, I’d love to go back, if only to have a nice bagel with cream cheese, a simple coffee with cream, and a gander at all those teapots.

Adorable coffee shop! I met a friend for coffee and I was so surprised by this place! They have lots of coffee options, as well as bakery items and sandwiches/wraps/paninis. I ordered an iced latte with sugar free syrup and it was better than Starbucks. I also had the turkey pesto panini with pickles and olives on the side. The panini was a little oily, which I’m sure was because of the pesto. It was very yummy and very filling. I loved the mini pickles and olives as my side, healthy alternative to chips! The service is excellent and they offer free wifi. If you want just a simple coffee, they have an honor bar. Seems like you buy the cup then pay for refills in the money jar. How cute and convenient!

I like this place, but it’s time to hire another person. I waited 8 minutes in line behind one person and then was told that it would be another 10 – 15 minutes for 3 sandwiches. It’s lunch time!

Had a quick business meeting here. I found the staff to be attentive and friendly. The atmosphere is nice and the wifi works well. They have a lot of hipster creative drinks, regular coffee is self serve and on the honor system with a cash box, so it makes it easy to find a spot, take out your singles, and get some work done or get absolutely nothing done. They have nice soup/sammie combos, but they were out of soup by the time I got there. I had a delicious grilled cheese panini with a fruit side, delivered right to my table. They looked to have tons of other good and healthy options as well, and it appeared to be made fresh unless you grab a cookie or two off the counter. I’ll stop in again.

What a splendid little small-town coffee shop, but with ample power outlets and quick WiFi. It may be local, but they have their act together. I’m writing this review from there, now. I hope to have an opportunity to return here again someday. Heading there again soon.

I’m not a coffee drinker but the ice tea is wonderful as are the overstuffed sandwiches and wraps. They are made to order not days in advance and put in a cooler. the soups are all wonderful also, as is the warm and friendly service.

As others have said, I like the space. It’s airy and open… It’s a near little coffee shop in Downtown Dexter. The coffee is alright… I am a basic coffee gal with a little cream and sugar added. I like how they have«self serve» coffee and if you have exact change, you don’t even have to go to the cashier. What I don’t like is the customer service if you do have to cashier… I have been here several times for coffee, and for sandwiches and they are less than friendly… Call me crazy, like a friendly greeting or a thank you when I make a purchase at a business. I have yet to receive it from this place…

I don’t come to a coffee shop for the crowd or the music. I come to drink coffee, use the wifi, and have a spot to think. This location is clean, the staff is friendly, and the food is quite good! If you’re interested in the ascetics — wood floors, brick walls, big windows, small tv hanging on the wall. The restrooms are always clean. I typically order a panini sandwich and soup combo, and I have never been disappointed. The turkey pesto panini is absolutely worth every dollar! The soup selection changes daily. I have tried about every hot drink on the menu — I prefer Americano, and the staff is consistent in preparing the drink I order. If you happen to travel to Dexter, and you need a break, Joe and Rosie’s is a great place to stop and relax.

The space I like. Exposed brick. Hardwood floor. Large storefront windows that let the light in. The tables have flowers on them. The counter is approachable and the displays are nice. The layout is spacious yet efficient. The two doors(front and side entrances) give the whole place a great flow. The coffee isn’t bad either. Their espresso is fairly standard but does the trick. Where for me this place misses the mark is 1) service, 2) music, which may be related to 3) clientele. Every time I’ve been in here, young women(18 – 21’ish) are working the counter. They are aggressively assertive/condescending/oud about how their macchiato isn’t like a starbuck’s macchiato to unsuspecting elderly suburban gentlemen. And yet completely unhelpful when it comes to their tea. I’m all for educating the masses about espresso drinks but to treat a customer like they’re an idiot is not the way to do it. And if you’re going to be a hot-beverage-guerrilla, then be vigilant about your teas(flavor, steeping time, etc.), too! So the service irks me. The music is intolerable for me as it usually consists of acoustic versions of 1990s rock songs, or Fiona Apple, or other kind of female-fronted easy-listening pseudo-singer-songwriter stuff. Zero personality. Or maybe to be more fair, just not my personality. Clientele is fine but I just get tired of Dexter’s small-town-pomp. I guess it’s the air of eternal leisure mixed with the delusion of urbanity. The café as a whole is solid. It’s just the attitude in the young staff and a self-quarantined clientele that makes me feel un-at-home.

I stopped in to get a mocha and a gift certificate. The mocha was excellent. I had a nice chat with the owner. She is very pleasant and has created an inviting atmosphere. I’d like to visit again and try the sandwiches on the menu. Be sure and ask her about the origin of the name Joe and Rosie’s. I found out that they are not the owner’s names.
