This is as good as it gets for a pleasant hour or two strolling the blueberry lanes. Peak season is mid to late July, buy even now in mid August, there are plenty of big, ripe berries. Be sure to follow the tips of where the thickest area if berries are. A couple of tips: 1. Bring mosquito repellent as they can be fierce. 2. Bring sunscreen 3. Blueberries don’t just grow on the bush’s periphery… spread the branches apart and behold plenty of big, fat berries that have escaped picking. 4. A half bucket is about 9 cups. 4 cups is what you need for one Blueberry pie.

You can’t beat $ 1.60/lb for blueberries. Really, you can’t. Andrew and I picked about 12 lbs worth of blueberries in 2 hours, which was amazing, and our freezer is now happy and stuffed full of blueberries. So is Andrew. If you go early or late in the season, the picking is a little harder and takes longer to fill your bucket. Definitely bring some mosquito repellent though, my legs were covered in bites by the time we were done, I guess shorts was a bad idea. They sell soda and water for $ 1 in case you get thirsty, and they take cash only.

So my friends and I came here for a «Pure Michigan» day to get some blueberries to bake some pies later that evening. Basically, grab a bucket and go! There are rows and rows of blueberry bushes full of big fat blueberries ready to be picked. It didn’t hurt that it was peak blueberry season(Mid July — Early August), but even with a lot of kids running around, we were able to duck into a secluded row and pick to our heart’s content. A full bucket in no time. There were some bugs and it was a little muddy on the main paths… but nothing you wouldn’t expect in the middle of the country. Also, the bushes provided a nice shade on a hot sunny day. Blueberries are $ 1.60 a pound and while this is cheap, but not super cheap for picking the berries yourself… the drive through the dirt country roads to get here and the experience itself makes it well worth it. I plan on going back soon to really stock up and freeze some blueberries for the rest of the year… *Cash Only*
