I’ve been a few times, it’s an upscale place to relax and have a drink. They do have a menu that looks quite tasty but I have not sampled anything as I usually have been late in the evening after dinner. The décor is modern and chic and the view of Detroit is quite spectacular. The seating is very comfortable. As for the drinks, their wine list is a bit small but decent. They do serve a variety of mixed drinks. I enjoy sidecars and they make a killer one. Yes, it will set you back $ 12 but one or two is all you can have. They are not shy on the booze. The staff is really friendly and prompt.

Volt Lounge is a nice bar in the Marriott at the Renaissance Center with cool views of downtown Detroit. I had a pint of Bell’s seasonal from the draft(an American Brown) and had a great conversation with the bartenders while watching Thursday night football. This bar is non-pretentious and is the quintessential hotel bar for business travelers to take a break.

Come for the turkey club, but stay for the shones. U know what I’m saying. The food is good, typical bar food. But it’s all about the view and the shones.

I really wish I could give this bar a 3.5, but since I couldn’t, the 4 stars will suffice. The bar is very conveniently located inside the Marriott. The food is pretty pricey for what it is(bar food). The drinks are pricey as well, but the staff is all friendly and very accommodating. Service is neither fast nor slow. The quesadilla is marvelous and the burgers are juicy. The portions are a good size.

Take into consideration, it’s a hotel bar so noisy shouldn’t be a surprise. It’s average. It’s a Marriott so the Marriott burger is a solid, dependable choice and never fails to overexcited, nor to disappoint me. My colleague, however, had the chicken soup and a cheese tray and was rather disappointed.

There’s really nothing special about this typically average hotel bar. The drinks are overpriced due to having a captive audience. The food’s decent, but also overpriced due to having a captive audience. Décor’s nice, it’s a beautiful bar, but again… nothing particularly overwhelming or special about it. If you’re in the hotel for some reason(I was there for a con), then sure, pop in, but it’s not like I’d go out of my way to get back there for any reason.

Over priced for the food you get, and always slow service. Go here for drinks, not food. They serve food, but almost reluctantly as they are always too busy with the bar it seems. Wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here, but I guess if you are staying at the hotel and aren’t in a rush it’s not too bad. My review is based on multiple times going here, as I work in the RenCen. So, it definitely wasn’t just an off nice that they were busy. It’s like that almost every day. Nice view of Detroit though.

Super cool place to get food and drinks. Stayed at the hotel and was hungry one night and decided to give it a try. The service part needs to improve as I waited almost 30 minutes to get service on. If you stay in the hotel, you can get them to charge your room instead, which was very nice.

It’s your average hotel lobby. Weirdly lit and overpriced. The staff was nice. Woodford on the rocks in going to cost you about $ 15. To be fair, the guy who made my drink did fill it to the brim, so I appreciate that.

The food is decent, but the service is so terrible that it brings this place down to 2 stars. Unless you look 40+, they don’t pay any attention to you. I literally sat at the high table for two hours helping myself to the buffet and not a single person approached me to serve a beverage or give me the bill. I easily could’ve left without paying, but didn’t do so.

I stay at the Marriott a lot and have been here a few times now(sometimes breakfast, sometimes dinner, sometimes dessert) and really, it’s not bad overall. Service can be highly variable based on the crowd. I actually have had the same waitress last two visits and there was a big difference in service between the two visits, so I think she was just overworked the first time. Foodwise, I prefer dinner to breakfast, but that’s mainly because for me breakfast buffet is overkill. They do have a nice omelette station and fresh fruit as well as the standard buffet stuff that really ends up not tasting the greatest when served at a buffet. But I’d rather just go to Potbelly on the 1st floor of the RenCen and get a breakfast sandwich for a few bucks than pay $ 18 for a breakfast buffet here. For dinner, the angus burger & fries are surprisingly good. Not best-in-town good, but better than your typical bar & grill. I’ve had these in the restaurant and as room service, the fries are better in the restaurant because they get soggy on the trip to your room, but the burger was good both times. It’s probably going to be my go-to dish when I eat here. The chocolate mousse cake is very good, but I don’t recommend sharing it unless you really just want a bite. We shared a piece among three of us and each of us barely got a nibble. Although I don’t really drink here, I think Volt’s a good place to come for drinks as they have a nice variety of beers & wines and a nice looking cocktail list that did I not have a personal rule against getting sloshed with coworkers/boss/clients, I’d be tempted to try. The wines come in several sizes starting as small as 3 oz if you just want a teensy bit.

This place is great if you are staying at the Marriott and want to get a quick drink or something to eat. It’s probably not a place I’d go out of my way for but the atmosphere is cool, kind of trendy and has some nice views of the city. They do have a happy hour which is nice! I think it ends at 7pm.

I almost never give a 5-star, but I am for one simple, albeit important, reason: service. My server was awesome. She went so far above-and-beyond. She went out of her way to even make toast for me while I was conducting a meeting instead of me having to go and do it myself! Bri enna is to be commended! Overall, the food is fine and the view is nice, but her service set my experience apart

I came to find that«service» in Detroit was nonexistent. I went here with my date for lunch at 1245 pm. We walked in for lunch and sat down. We sat at a table that was cleared, but not wiped off. There was no sign that said to wait for seating, so we sat ourselves. After sitting for 10 minutes, Luis finally came over. He threw down 2 napkins for beverages on the table and started asking about taking a drink order. Seeing there was a huge water puddle on the table and tons of salt/sugar, I asked if he would mind wiping it off. He came back 5 minutes later, wiped it off, left is soaking wet and then left. We didn’t hear from him for 10 more minutes. When he finally returned, he put down 2 more napkins, which I proceeded to use to dry the table, since he left it soaking wet after wiping it off 10 minutes prior. He took our order, I got the burger and fries, my date the bowl of corn soup and we got calamari. After 30 minutes of no food, I asked him if our food was going to be coming out anytime soon. He said it would be out any minute. I am not sure why he thought this, since we have been waiting for 30 minutes already. The food came out 3 minutes later. My burger had a tomato, which I ordered without. My date’s soup was cold. Still no Calamari. As soon as the food was brought out, he left. I went up to ask him who I needed to talk with to get some ketchup, since he didn’t seem to want to stick around to ask how the meal was. He brought some over and I asked him if he could heat the soup, and also check on the calamari, since we were going on 35 minutes at this point. 10 minutes later, the soup was brought back out… warm this time, still not hot. Finally got the calamari. Now, I had to go fill my own water, since Luis was nowhere to be found for quite some time. We finished the meal, and we waited and waited for him to come over with the bill. He said he comped us 25% for all the mistakes. I wasn’t looking for any freebies, just my bill so I could end this nightmare of a lunch. However, a 25% discount was an insult. After bringing the bill back out, we still had all the plates on the table, he couldn’t even clear the table. Needless to say, there was no tip in order here.

Went here for breakfast the cook making the Omelets is great! It took awhile to get some service when we first came in plus the place wasn’t busy. My wife ask for the table and booth to be wiped down after watching the bus boy do it, when he wiped it down again he left the seat wet so we couldn’t sit down. I had to finally grab a cloth napkin from another table and wipe down the seat ourselves this is why the 3 Stars. For the prices and the location the service should be way better. Now our server was great!!! The breakfast buffet was tasty, with a lot of fresh fruits!!!

Had to go here with my husband for a work lunch. The food was pretty much frozen food you could make at home. The wine was terrible the server did not even get the right one when I asked she looked confused I should have made it easy and just got a bud light maybe. The ambiance is nice and its a great place to talk and hang out. Small though getting a table can be hard. Next time eat before we go and not order wine from there.

Packed after Tigers game and people from Orion festival. Meat market of men sizing up women and it sure was slim pickins of unescoted single ladies. My husband tried the butterscotch pudding on the menu and we ordered a couple beers, to top off our night at the Opera house.(BravoBravo!) Beautiful view and nice décor. Huge space with lots of glass and high ceilings. Neat place to sit for a drink or meet with friends before going elsewhere.

I work in the Renaissance Center so I’m frequently in the area for meetings etc; The Volt bar is a place that my team visits for a drink on late evenings, or cutting short on fridays. Its a place you can hang out with co-workers(for me at least) and socialize outside of the office grind. The prices are a bit elevated for what you get, but that comes with the territory(Ren Cen). If you work here, regular lunches might be a tad expensive if you do it daily, but I have found that there is always a lot of room and have yet to leave here disappointed with either food or drink.

There are so many better selections to go to in the RenCen. The food is nothing special at all and the drinks do not excel. The servers have been the shining star and are attentive and quick most of the time. If you have to stay at the RenCen I would say give a try to Muer’s or if it is after 5:00pm head up to Coach Insignia and have a great view and a wonderful happy hour.
