I have tried every truck in Southwest a couple times and I have come to a conclusion: Vernor and Military is the best there is. Hands down the best Quesadilla you will find in Detroit. Toledo and Livernois is decent as well. Inside seating is a huge plus.

Visited all of the Taco Trucks in SW Detroit. While 3 were very tasty the other 5 I visited I would not eat out of. All of the vehicles were pretty dirty on the exterior … which gives you the impression the inside might be the same way. One actually had an extension cord leading from the back of the truck … across the parking lot … with cars driving over it … thru automatic doors of a food market … and plugged into an outlet. Obviously an inspector would close that operation down for that violation in a second. Which leads me to believe they don’t get inspected often. I do wanna try some of the street food tho at the resturants that cook outside … now that’s real Mexican !! Those places are all over the Yucatán !!

Deliciousnesses. tacos on wheels. ñam. I’ve been reviewing the taco trucks separately to give some comparative observations, but as a whole PHENOMENA, the taco trucks of Southwest Detroit are stellar and stupendous. I just can’t imagine summertime lunch-hour without them.

Super cheap, authentic, and delicious tacos. I’m a fan. Super friendly. We’re a fan of Tacos El Primo. The staff is super friendly; most notably as I practice my Spanish ordering. Wish: Cheese

My favorite Taco Truck is in the Payless shoe store parking lot across from the Telway at Michigan and Martin. I’m not going to go into a deep discription of the bliss that they serve from a catering truck but I’m a regular. Dea did a pretty good job of describing the fare they serve. The peppers, carrots and radishes that come with the tacos are sooo good! The pop in to cooler is always freezing cold too!

I love it when people do one thing and do it really damn well. The taco carts of Detroit are like Christmas Eve and an Easter egg hunt all rolled into one. So anxious to discover what that taco is going to taste like you are practically drooling giddy. An Easter egg hunt because sometimes, the best ones(Acapulco) are on the run! Tacos are about $ 1-$ 1.25 — ALL are CASHONLY Choices of meat filling depend on what truck you are at. Green sauce and red sauce are usually somewhere(you might have to dig through a cooler, or ask). As well as whatever truck has a «special» condiment. Pink onions at Los Unicos. Grilled onions and jalapenos at El Paiso. Ketchup… or Lousiana hot sauce for your ceviche taco at Acapulco. Every place has their«thing» that makes them unique. The taco trucks allow you to discover a part of Detroit I am sure most of you never even knew existed. A part of Detroit that’s vibrant, alive, and friendly. Oh and smells of tacos everywhere you go. Sometimes you may need to order in Spanish. Cebollas = onions, cilantro = cilantro(the standard toppings in Detroit’s Mexicantown). If you want a lime, it may come with it or you can ask. ONLY corn tortillas(or so that I saw) and as far as I care the ONLY way to have a real taco. Asada = cow/beef Pollo = chicken tripas/cabeza/lengua = YUMMY! Tacos are always more fun in a group though. Discovery, adventure, and food! Taco Cart Crawl with Team Taco is going back for Round 2(of what may be many rounds!). So stay tuned! Always say«gracias» and if there’s a tip jar, leave your spare change or an extra $ 1. ¡Buen provecho! PS — POSSIBLY veggie friendly. Ask Unilocaler Michael G how he did it! Maybe he will write a review on how to order veggie friendly tacos when no place actually has veggie friendly tacos on the menu! PPS — here is the map that Janelle P made with Lorna E’s awesome investigation skills(with annotations of taco locations):
