I am HIV+ and I recently tried to transfer my Rx’s to the Meijer Pharmacy, I’m also in the process of enrolling in insurance for the first time, I had been eligible for medicaid until this summer. While waiting for open enrollment I had DAP to pay for my $ 2500 a MONTH medications. Meijer wouldn’t order the meds until I had my social worker confirm that I indeed had DAP, then it took 8 days for my meds to come in… Fast forward to next month, they didn’t reorder my meds, but ordered them for me, this time they DIDNOTVERIFYMYINSURANCE(DAP) INFO but ordered the meds. In this time DAP messed up my proof of income(happens frequently) and when I go to pick up my meds they hand me a BILLFOR $ 2400… This is a saturday mind you I can do absolutely nothing about anything til monday, at this time I have been without my DAILY meds for over a week… On monday I’m playing phone tag and emailing instead of working so that maybe, just maybe I can have meds at some point this week. I call Tuesday and ask if they are in stock and they are NOT, so they say«Thursday»… So I ask«Does DAP have all those covered so I can pick them up Thursday?»… Sharice(I don’t think that’s spelled correctly) tells me that ONLYTWO of the medications were covered(which does ZERO good as they only in tandem with one another… Two weeks, no meds… Extremely rude, condescending staff. No one seems to know what they’re doing… Avoid this place like the PLAGUE…

Drive a little longer and pay a little more for better pharmacys like the RiteAid on Woodward in Ferndale. The pharmacist and tech actually care. These people laugh at your frustration once you walk away. «The customer is never correct at your local Detroit Meijer pharmacy. Get used to it or find another pharmacy.» That’s what their mission statement should be. Initial review: Worst. Doc called in a prescription on Thursday. Pharmacy said it’d be there by Monday. Go in to check in and she says it wasn’t ordered because it was too expensive. What?! And never called to tell me. Just decided not to order and went on with the pharmacy’s incompetence. Update: This is yet another terrible review for this terrible pharmacy. Pharmacy tech says every meijer pharmacy needs patient ID for controlled substance DROPOFF& pick up. So don’t think about trying to drop of a family members prescription who is recovering from surgery in the hospital. You NEED your ID… i guess it’s the law. Except I called another meijer pharmacy and asked if they’d need my husbands ID if I drop off his prescription for liquid pain meds. She said no problem. I double and triple checked and she said it wouldn’t be a problem every time. Detroit meijer pharmacy, get your act together.
