very solid in term of value, quality, price, and service. my buddy and I go here for post work-out meals so we’re typically«those customers» who don’t even order off the menu, but just tell the server what we want. I’d never recommend this practice but as he’s been coming here forever, and they know what to expect, it’s never an issue and we get out food hot and prepared expertly. I’ve had a couple other menu items as opposed to our normal orders and all are prepared fresh and quickly. they’re famous for their corned beef, though I’ve never personally ordered it. American diners aren’t my normal bag, but if you’re I the mood for it, this place won’t disappoint. quick tip though, they close down by seven pm, so don’t expect a late night delight here.

I always enjoy the the breakfast and the deli sandwiches from here. The food is very fresh and tasty. My favorites are the Gyro omelette and the steak sandwich. This place is very busy during the week and weekends.

Love the Louie’s mistake omelette. Portion size is good I don’t order hash browns because I never have enough room. Pricing is not bad either. Friendly waitstaff and facility is clean.

Ok let me just say this place is the best kept secret. They stay busy. Awesome food. And large portions. The Cobb salad is giant and oh so good.

My god the portions here are massive. I got a Farmer’s omelette and could barely finish it. It basically set me up for the rest of the day, so I skipped lunch. It was packed to the gills with ham, green peppers, onion, cheese, bacon, and potatoes. The eggs were perhaps somewhat overcooked, but even with all the stuffings, I never got the sense that there was too little egg.

I have been here several times and talked it up to my sister. We were all disappointed. I ordered my regular which is a tuna melt and the bread was cold and the cheese unmelted. I had to send it back. My sister order the flavorless grilled chicken pita. It was cold as well. The only person that enjoyed their food was the 8 year old who had chicken strips. My daughter had the hot dog meal and discovered that the hot dog is in natural casing and she didnot eat it. 38 dollars not well spent. Even the Pepsi was flat.

Exceptional quality and quantity of food. The best rye toast I’ve ever eaten. Odd policy about charging extra if you take more than one tea bag for hot tea(but unlimited coffee and soda refills…). Overall very good dining experience.

Well I guess I am the odd ball but it is what it is Straight to the point I ordered the Louie combo corned beef and pastrami on the they grill the sandwich and the meats The sandwich taste like they mad it with low grade meats that you would buy out of the deli in a market after 2 bites I threw the rest of the sandwich away if you go there I guess breakfast is the go to meal

This place is great! I came here with my boyfriend’s family on Father’s Day and it was a perfect end to a great weekend. I had the French toast with bacon and hash browns and it was delicious. They have a great breakfast and lunch menu and their sides can feed at least 2 – 3 people. We had plenty of food leftover and it was a great treat. They have old photos of sports teams all over the walls and it reminded me of a cute diner feel.

Great place to get breakfast! Reasonable prices — I got the chicken fried steak, which was well-prepared with yummy gravy. They have the option to get 2 instead of 3 eggs for free — make sure to tell them you’re interested! Hash browns could be a bit more browned… but otherwise, no complaints on the food and service. The parking lot though, is ridiculous. Saturday morning and everybody’s interested in breakfast, so understandable. But the mini-parking lot will certainly ruin your car with all its potholes and wires sticking out of the parking bumpers.

This place is on my regular rotation for lunch. Clean, ample parking, quick and efficient service, and good food. As the name suggests, they do their own hams and corned beefs. The ham is good, but I think the corned beef is better(though it’s not as good as Star Deli, which I think is the Detroit-area Gold Standard). The Slim Jim ham sandwich is good and comes with a healthy smear of mayo. The corned beef special is very good and served on an onion roll. The grilled ham and cheese is a little greasy, but is good when you’re looking for something a little greasy. The salads are good. A hungry person can get by with the small greek with chicken, though the large with chicken is probably bordering on too much. Ditch the protein and the large salad is probably the way to go for a hungry person. Breakfast is plus-level, too. Large omelettes, good hash browns, tasty meat. If you come during the lunch rush, you may have to wait five minutes for a table. If you walk in and see half a dozen people in front of you, don’t worry– they really turn the tables over quickly.

Breakfast, Brunch, Lunch, Dunch and Dinner Not the coney taste and not the bistro price! Visited the place almost 10 years ago, I believe, and loved it then. My brother and friend are easier to please and don’t require fresh ingredients as my bourgeois(side eye) tastes do. So I wanted something everyone would like. Louie’s fits. Great food with no hipster flare just quality ingredients and great cooks. I had a perfect crisp, yet velvet textured waffle topped with real strawberries and bananas. Not unripe or over ripe, fresh and clean. No syrup needed! I ordered a side of ham, it was all the way live. A nice serving size too. I really loved the ham, not too salty, grilled nicely and full of flavor not grill taste. My brother had the cinnamon sugar raisin french toast. Everything was cooked into the toast. He was very pleased. His meat was sausage which I wish I had ordered. They were plump, cooked well and balanced in flavor. Friend had an omelette and hash browns. Real semi soft potatoes cut and cooked with onions and seasoning. Nothing that ever sat in a freezer. Although they were packed on a Sunday afternoon we were sat quickly. The seats and tables have perfect space and comfort. There were quality TV’s playing the game and the waitresses were attentive and courteous. I’ll be back, I want to try more.

The omelet a here are amazing. Top notch breakfast spot in the D. If you’re anywhere near Eastern Market and are looking for breakfast than this is a can’t miss. Many good choices on the menu but their omelets are second to none.

Very busy place; therefore food must be fresh!!! Went here for lunch and parking lot was very busy, but luckily I found a place to park! Woo Hoo. Went in and luckily it was just the right time. Got a seat right away for me and a friend. Sat down and ordered iced tea, the waitress brought us our tea while we were making a decision on what to order. We decided to split a patty melt and an order of French fries. In no time our patty melt came out and the waitress said the French fries will be up in a minute or two. True to her word she brought out the French fries 2 minutes later! For Louie’s being so busy the place appeared to be clean. The waitress was wonderful. The food was delectable ! I must make a note of the pickle though — OMG best one I’ve ever had!!! Probably the patty melt was the best I’ve ever eaten. Nice — will definitely go back!

Everything is amazing from breakfast to dinner. I’m a local vendor and can promise you all ingredients are fresh. The warehouse behind the restaurant makes the corned beef that’s served here

Not a bad place to grab a quick breakfast in Detroit without much wait. Overpriced for what they’re offering. It’s very diner-like but for an omelette and coffee you can average $ 10 – 15. The food is decent but not the greatest. I usually get the Mexican omelette. Will likely visit again because its convenient, but not top of my list. If you have a little more time on your hands I suggest you visit Hudson café instead.

Yes… I am a fan… but… The Eastern Market area here in Motown may be small in area but it proved today to be big on taste! I enjoyed my first Reuben Sandwich from Louie’s for lunch today replete with juicy corned beef, old-world sauerkraut, a delicate layering of fresh Swiss cheese, golden grilled rye and of course the omnipresent Thou… WAIT…They forgot the Thousand Island dressing! Are you kidding me??? The only excuse I can offer is that my sandwich was«to go» and somehow the sauce was missed the way the plastic spoon can be forgotten when you swing through Wendy’s for a cup o’ chili to go. Oh well… despite this minor shortcoming, this sandwich rocked with lean juiciness. Good Reub!

Few places that I have frequented are as consistent as Louie’s Ham. Consistently good. Expect your typical diner menu with sandwiches, breakfast, soups, and salads. Nothing fancy but everything done right every time. You can expect the following from Louie’s every time: lightning fast service, great portion sizes and CLEAN! This place is always busy. If quiet is what you desire, than skip the peak times of breakfast and lunch and of course, Saturday mornings during the Market times. When it’s packed, it’s loud but not uncomfortable. However, I have never had to wait more than 10 minutes to get a table. Louie’s employees bust some serious ass and table turnover is frequent. Worth tipping a little more because these people hustle for their money. Even with fast service, you don’t ever feel rushed. Salads are very good size can easily be split. Try the Piggy Salad or the Cobb. Sandwiches are plentiful and I like the Louie’s Delight or Stacked Ham or grilled rye or grilled onion roll. For omelets, try the Farmer’s Omelet or the Southern Omelet. BTW-these are four egg omelets. French fries are perfect every time – golden brown, hot and crispy. Bowl of soup is huge here as well while the coffee and beverage refills are non-stop. Good luck seeing the bottom of your cup. They don’t stay open late(7pm Mon — Sat; and 4 pm on Sunday) but they do more business during their open hours than most 24 hour places do all week. FOr the money, you can’t go wrong here.
