Well, that is it. If you don’t go today, you will have missed out on a great old time steak house here in Detroit. With it’s dark, cozy interior, Laffrey’s was the perfect place to relax, have deep discussions, or solve the worlds problems. The service was always impeccable and the food first rate. An escargot appetizer, followed by a thick cut, dry aged, rare, cut of animal protein(mushrooms and onions on the side, of course) and a couple of glasses of red, with a neat bourbon for dessert made my last meal here one to remember. Sad is this day, enjoy outback.

Once again, another great meal at Laffrey’s. This old school place serves the best steak. I had a nice juicy New York Strip that was so full of flavor, which I topped with the delicious sautéed mushrooms. I loved this steak so much, I wanted to order a second one; however, I opted for the sinful chocolate cake instead. My entire meal was fantastic and the service was out of this world. I am caveman… Give me meat! Make sure it’s grilled and fresh… What’s that green stuff? Vegetables??? Eeewwww… MEAT! I’ll have a side of steak bites, keep the veggies, oh, and potatoes are good… Well, i guess you get the picture. I enjoy a good steak. This restaurant is one of the better non-chain restaurants around. They know how to prepare a meal. I went here on friends advice. It was a couple of month’s ago for lunch. Meal: Short Ribs — One day a week special. I went here the perfect day. These short ribs were so tender and flavorful with gravy dripped on them with a side of mashed. Call ahead if interested, they will save you an order. 5 Stars Service — Good — Everthing was delivered in a timely manner. No waiting. The lunch experience took just over an hour. I was savoring the ribs. Note to self: Go here for dinner — Burger Boy like Caveman… Meat.

I am tried of people going to chains and saying how wonderful they are. If you live in Michigan, give money to people who have been here for years, not cheap copies of orignal restaurants in other cities. Laffrey’s is a real Detroit steak house; it is my favorite place to go for steak. I love the 70’s style salad bar. It has real bacon bits, house made dressings, house made croutons and fresh ground pepper. The stuffed baked potato is amazing. Be sure to get the mushrooms with your steak, as well. The steaks are wonderful! I’ve had the ribeye, the filet, and the prime rib. I’ve always had a wonderful dinner and never been disappointed.
