Holy crap. I’ve never started a review with holy, or crap for that matter. This place is amazing. Ended up here almost on accident, and I’m glad I did. I had the chicken flautas, which are not on the menu but some of the girls who work here were eating them so I asked for what they have. Hands down the best Mexican I’ve ever had. I’ve lived in the southwest, so I’ve had good Mexican before. This place is top notch.

I stopped here one day for lunch and decided to try my luck with their foot long burrito– NOTDISAPPOINTED. The burrito was amazing. Rice, chicken, beans Oh My! This place is a great place to stop to get a quick lunch. It is a small place, but they had seating so you could wait for your order.

Joses Tacos, color me impressed! I have no idea when you popped up in downtown D, but I’m sure glad you did. Two tacos were enough to fill me up, and the flavors were spot on! You can choose to customize or order directly off the menu. I mix and matched with my two-taco order, opting for one shrimp and steak(respectively), one corn and one flour tortilla, and both spice levels of salsa. Toppings were plentiful(mad respect re: the sauteed onions, yaaaas) and everything looked and tasted fresh. Just FYI — sour cream is an extra 50 cents. But the prices are very reasonable, so I wasn’t too put off by the side charging. Now, if it were Honeybee’s sour cream… well, that’d be an extra-star-awarding game changer.

Amazing quick lunch spot downtown. Shredded chicken was so good, I’ll be back every week :)

The prices are inflated for the quality of service and food that you get. We ordered three a la carte tacos and an enchilada and burrito combo and everything was pretty tasteless; making the 20 minute wait for the food pretty much a waste of time. Unless you really have to have Mexican try a different restaurant in the area.

Tried to go on a Tuesday at 12:30pm and the line was out the door. Needless to say, I didn’t stick around. May try them again at some other time, and will update my review when I can actually try their food.

I spontaneously stopped in here last week during lunch time and decided to get a carry out. I ordered one of their lunch specials: 2 enchiladas with beans and rice. The enchiladas are corn based with a red sauce. They come with a small portion of lettuce and tomatoes. The rice is a mexican rice and I didn’t try the beans — just not in the mood. I got the cheese option with a side of sour cream and a side of guacamole. I added an order of chips and salsa as well. With a $ 2 tip its was about $ 15.50. The order was ready within 10 minutes of me placing it, probably even faster than that. It was a great portion of food and I really enjoyed it! It’s a tiny place, so I’d recommend getting it for carry out or a small group, but they do have tables to sit at. There are also a couple of tables outside. Check it out and try the enchiladas :) And don’t worry, they aren’t spicy!

Went to the ballgame the other night and decided to head over to Greektown for a meal. After we traversed to the area, we were overwhelmed by the multiple places. So I pulled out my trusty Unilocal app and scrolled the restaurants. We found a few potential spots in Greektown, but also saw this place, which would be only a little out of our way back to the stadium. The place said it was open until 7pm and it wasn’t even 6 yet, so we headed over. We made it over to the place and pulled on the door. Locked??? We looked in the window and saw patrons enjoying food. We also saw a lady in the corner counting money. We pulled again. Finally, she looked up and mouthed«closed» and then went back to counting money. I hate places that close or open on a whim. If a business doesn’t want to adhere to posted hours, then they should probably not have a set time frame. The lady also could have given us an explanation, apology, or anything more than what we received.

Very disappointed that we stopped by to try it out before the game, only to find that the lady working had locked the doors up and«closed», yet there were people in there eating. After asking her(through the window) if she was closed, she said yes– although they’re supposed to be open until 7? Not sure if the hours changed or if there was a last minute emergency, but either way you’d think they’d care a bit more to let customers know.

Went there an hour before the listed closing time and the doors were already locked. :(

I got the fried ice cream and grilled chicken burrito. In total it was a 10 minute wait and time flew since they gave us complimentary chips. The grilled chicken burrito came with rice and beans. I wasn’t a fan of the beans, they were pretty plain refried beans, the rice was okay. The burrito was good though! It was pretty large, maybe a by more than three inch diameter, and was very filling and satisfying. Fried ice cream was just vanilla ice cream(I don’t think they have other flavors) covered in fried stale corn flakes, chocolate drizzle, and whipped cream. I wouldn’t get it again. But it was a decently sized dessert! All in all, friendly service, large portions for medium/cheap price. I wouldn’t come here for a nice meal, but it’s a good place to stop by and it’s convenient if you’re feeling Mexican food before or after a baseball game and don’t want to get the overpriced tacos inside Comerica. If I came again I would definitely want to give the tacos a try. Note: do not expect the combos to come with the same burritos as this one, my friend ordered a combo and the burrito was more like a taquito.

This little gem is right around the corner from my place, it was my first time popping in and I’ll definitely be back. The staff was very friendly and helpful steering us around the menu. My daughter and I both had the 3 tacos lunch plate; shredded chicken(in a fried taco), soft pork, and soft fish tacos to round out my threesome.(My daughter had the chorizo not pork). It also came with a generous portion of rice and beans. All three were very good, I especially liked the traditional double tortilla. The only knock was that the«spicy» salsa that came on the side wasn’t very«caliente», but easily remedied with the hot sauce on the table. All in all, two thumbs up!(Oh yeah, four counting my daughter’s!)

Hole-in-the-wall taco place with sweet, attentive staff. I had the shrimp and fish tacos. One soft and one crispy. Everything was very tasty. We also had the wings and fries. Not bad. The fries were lightly seasoned. They need to fix that door, though! We were there during Tigers Home Opener. It was 44 deg out and the cold breeze busted in every time customers entered or exited because the door doesn’t stay closed! Staff or other customers had to get up and close the door.

What a great little spot to eat lunch OR dinner at! I stumbled into this place wanting to grab a quick bite before a Unilocal event, and was pleasantly surprised at what I discovered. I love places like this, and really enjoyed the food I had here. Walking in, the place is rather small and non discript, but has a lot to offer in regards to good Mexican food. I scoured the menu and realized that they seem to have a lot going on. Great meal deals with rice and beans, along with ala cart items as well. Being that I wanted something to tide me over and not a huge meal, I went with the beef Tand a pop. I did consider their taco meal for $ 7.99 that came with beans and rice, but decided that I didn’t need that much food at this time. The girl waiting on me at the register was so nice! Seemed young and I think she was related to the cook(possibly her dad?) standing at the grill. She told me I could have my tacos crispy or deep fried. WHAT!!! BOTH! I went with crispy and they came out DELICIOUS! Place does have seating but is somewhat limited in size. No large groups here! Prices are fair and reasonable and the food is awesome! I would gladly stop in here again because it is totally the kind of food that I love. More on the authentic side with a family owned feel. Plenty of food to choose from, along with a sign that read«anything on our menu can be made vegetarian.» I will be back here in the future for more deliciousness!!!

Tiny little hole-in-the wall, but excellent food. Very reasonably priced, huge portions. My wife ordered the half nachos and it was huge. Can’t imagine what the full order is like. I ordered the Friday Chimichanga and Taco combo. Luckily we came when there was no crowd, as we heard it can get busy. The staff is amazing as well. Definitely would recommend!

This place is small and can get busy during lunch rush. But it’s all worth it. If it’s your first time let the staff know so they can walk you through the menu. I tried the deep fried tacos which is a house specialty. I did the pork with cilantro and lettuce, tomato. The sour cream is on the side for an extra 50 cents. Everything came out hot and fresh. Tacos were crispy and hot, the pork was well marinated and savory. House made salsa and sour cream to give that cold contrast. The rice and beans are pretty standard, but good none the less. Seating is limited to about 14 people so be prepared. Drinks are soft and out of a fridge. Water is free by the glass. The average meal is around $ 10.00.

Was really hoping to like this place because of all the great reviews but the steak tacos were just ok, nothing special. Maybe I’ll give it another shot and try something else.

This is the ultimate quick lunch spot in this part of downtown. They have great specials and generous portions. Everything is reasonably priced and service is speedy even when they’re packed. Tacos are super cheap on tuesdays, but my favorite special is the Chimichanga + Taco combo w/rice & beans on Friday! I have yet to order anything I didn’t like here.

Chips are amazing. Comes warm. Salsa a lil mild for my tastes. All the food is great. My favs are the pork tamales though. TASTY! Meat all throughout. Right Amount of heat. Small place limited seating but amazing food. Need to add carnitas to the menu IMO. P. S. No menus available online or inside. So I took a pic and added to Unilocal

I love this place. Their food is authentic and their carry out is timely. They always have fresh pico de gallo and hot food. I particularly enjoy their steak tacos as I eat simple proteins. The hostess is always kind in this family owned establishment. They also have this delicious mexican ice cream. I suggest trying the butter pecan. Their restaurant is very clean. Overall, they are amazing.

It’s pricey for standard Mexican food. About $ 10 for a small meal. The food is good though, but nothing memorable. The place is a pop up and has just a few small tables including one outside. They do sell some interesting fruit popsicles.

My guy loves Jose’s and is always raving about how good the food is. I was a bit hesitant at first since the menu didn’t have my favorites: Carnitas and lengua. I ordered 1 Asada, 1 pork, and 1 shrimp. The tacos were all soo yummy and the green sauce is on point. The service is awesome too. The staff let us know that sometimes they will make carnitas on the weekends. Apparently they did have lengua when they first opened, but it was not too popular. I hope they bring it back because I seriously would eat it every other day. You gotta give this place a try when you are downtown. It’s about $ 1ish more per taco than what you would pay in Mexican town, but totally worth it.
