I went to see Dr. Ospelt yesterday morning for the first time. I had a painful infection and I have fibromyalgia so I was very apprehensive. Dr. Ospelt was very kind and gentle. She took her time and she was very reassuring and calming. The office was clean and organized. Lucky for me, she was not too busy when I arrived. I was very pleased with her prices as well. She offers very affordable prices for quality care. I will absolutely repeat.

STAYAWAY. My friend monika who is polish recommended me this lady about a year ago. Last week I called for an appointment so she scheduled me for 10am sharp. A 10 sharp im there in a room full of people. I told her she made appointment for me at 10am and without even looking at me she told me to wait. I waited 55 minutes while she would check in people that arrived even 30 minutes after i did. I left after 55 minutes and I’m never going back there. No matter how good of a job she does I’m never a returning customer and will never recommend her to anyone anymore.

OK, she’s not my dentist but she is my mom’s. Since I take my mom here and have sat in the waiting room 3 times in the past month, I think I have seen enough to write about this dental office. Located on the western edge of Des Plaines near 14 and Seegers Road on Broadway, about a block from the Wolf-Golf Rd. «Suicide Circle,» Dr. Ospelt has an office in the rather nondescript long building with lots of little storefront offices besides hers. Though the outside is rather plain, once you step in, it’s a very elegant and tastefully decorated waiting room with a beautiful patterned green carpet and some cushioned wooden chairs that may very well be antiques, along with a fancy dresser that is part of the set. It’s almost like being in someone’s home. Now, here’s the caveat. Dr. Ospelt is a one-woman dental office. She answers the phones, does the cleanings, X-rays, schedules appointments and of course does all the drilling too. Her clientele are mostly Polish-speaking, and so is she. Her English is good but she does have a noticeable accent. This may deduct a star for some people, but let me continue. She’s gosh-darn cheap! I can’t think of how many times on Unilocal Talk I’ve seen postings about where to find a low-cost dentist or where to get dental work for the uninsured. Well, here’s a good one folks! Now I was first here with my mom about 3 years ago when she had to get a filling replaced, so I can tell you this is not a fly-by-night operation. Dr. Ospelt advertises on Polish radio, which is where my mom found out about her. Dr. Ospelt’s business is done with people mostly paying in cash and no overhead on staffing, so the $ 600 root canal I paid after insurance at Cameo Endodontics last month would have cost me $ 350 over here, no insurance! And since my mom got a root canal and had no complications or pain later tells me Dr. Ospelt did it right. Many other dentists would refer you to a specialist, yet she did it all in her office. OK, so maybe she doesn’t give out toothbrushes and floss, but she has her act together. Since she’s a one-person office, I am also impressed at her scheduling efficiency, as she spaces out her patients so that there isn’t a crowded waiting room of people at any given time. Each time my mom came, Dr. Ospelt was ready for her and very little waiting was needed. She’s good with kids too, as I saw a family with a grade-school girl and high school-aged boy all coming for their checkups here. Finally, she has some pretty good-looking equipment too, seemingly more up-to-date than even my own regular dentist that I see. While I’m not switching dentists, I think it’s fair to say she’s a good one to know about for low-cost dental work in the burbs.
