We’ve ordered from Hong Gong Kitchen twice now and have been very happy with the quality of the food and service. The vegetables are very fresh and aren’t over cooked. We’ll go back.

My boyfriend’s Christmas Day tradition is Chinese food for dinner. We called our usual place and tried several other Chinese restaurants all were closed. I found Hong Gong Kitchen on my cell, we decided to call. We are very impressed with this hidden gem. We will definitely be ordering again soon.

Food is great! Everything is delicious! The fact that there is sooooo many Chinese restaurant around this area is why I give the 3 stars! The service is okay as well! Food is amazing! There’s only one thing! THEYCHARGEFORHOTSAUCE! I have never been to a restaurant where they charge for the take out tiny little portable top ware for hot sauce! Not at Italian, Mexican, Polish etc etc !

I would give less than one star if possible. I had a TERRIBLE overall experience. I ordered online because I could not get through on the phone. I requested the order to be delivered ASAP. I received an immediate confirmation of my order at 11:45 a.m. along with a receipt for the food, delivery charge and tip. I anticipated delivery in about an hour. An hour and 15 min later, I tried calling again because the food hadn’t arrived. They told me it would take another hour or so. I told him that was unacceptable service but at this point, my card had already been charged so I had no choice but to wait. At 2pm, the driver finally arrived and the receipt was higher than what I approved online. I refused to sign the receipt and called the restaurant again. I asked them to waive the delivery fee because of the ridiculous wait. They refused and gave an excuse, saying that the delay was beyond their control. The driver did leave without a signature. To add insult to injury, each individual order was wrong. Two of the orders were supposed to include crab Rangoon as part of the lunch special. They received egg rolls instead. One order was supposed to be orange chicken. They received general tso instead. There are so many things wrong with my experience that I can’t recommend this restaurant to anyone. I will be selecting a different restaurant for my group lunch orders because this one is unreliable.

Recently visited this place, I was interested in their fruit smoothies. After waiting almost 15 minutes for my smoothie, I was given a smoothie without tapioca, when I asked for tapioca. On top of it, they didn’t even tell me they could put it back in. I don’t think I’ll be coming back to this establishment, the floors were dirty, and I personally did not feel welcome. A greeting when you walk in would be nice, however I will just stick to going to liquid fusion for my smoothies, since they seem to be on top of there game.

I love this place. This is the only place I go for Chinese food. Everyone is so nice and the food is so good. They also have really good fruit smoothies with tapioca which i’m a huge fan of. The first thing I ever ordered was the orange chicken and I was surprised to see actual oranges in it. I gave 4 stars because the last time I went in for just fruit smoothies, it took about 25 minutes for 3 of them. They were still really good and I don’t see myself changing my Chinese place anytime soon. You’ve gotta try the house special fried rice!

I used to order Cantonese special chow fun noodle all the time. It was good until about 3 months ago when the same order was done completely different. white souce, noodles in sauce, more like soup than chow fun… I ordered today as well and got the same“white sauce noodle” soup” which was later changed to“brown noodle«soup». That;s not how chow fun used to be at that place. Perhaps they changed their cook since they cannot make proper chow fun anymore, which is too bad… because I used to like to eat there.

Placed an order for take away. 10 minutes for order to be ready, perfect time for me to get there. We ordered the teriyaki beef appetizer, egg rolls and the Triple delight. When I got there the order was ready, service was friendly. The food was very good and still hot by the time I got home. Will defiantly go back and recommend them to others.

Ever since I moved to the burbs, I’ve been on the hunt for authentic Chinese fish dishes. Most Chinese places in the burbs do not even have fish on their menus. When I saw this place offered fish on their lunch menu, I figured I’d give it a try. I ordered the fish fillet with Chinese broccoli and salt & pepper smelt fish for take out. Both were very good. Not as good as you’d find in the city of course, but great for the suburbs! I was impressed this place even had«Chinese broccoli» on their menu. They also have bitter melon on their menu if you’re into that. Most of their menu contains the generic Chinese American dishes like sweet and sour/orange/general tso/kung pao etc. However, the«Cantonese Special» section of the menu is what gives this place 4 stars. I finally have a place near home where I can get my fish fillet with Chinese broccoli fix!

I’ve ordered from this retaurant at least a dozen times, and I have been mostly been satisfied with the taste and quality of their food. Today I ordered two orders of barbeque pork, but what I got was pan seared pork flanks in sweet soy sauce; it was chewy and boring, so I decided to call them and ask for a different dish. The woman who I talked to said it was their style and added that she didn’t care that we did not like what we ordered. I really wish she didn’t say that! Horrible way to treat a regular customer.

Not extraordinary but, it is a take out place in a strip on a busy road. It is not a fancy sit down place so, for quick take out, it is better than most. They have improved over the last year. I work down the street and go here for lunch 2x a month and the lunch special is a very good value. The flavors are pretty typical. You can get it spicy but, like most places, you have to ask for one step hotter than what you want to really get spicy. So, spicy means a tiny tiny heat; extra spicy means it starts with some heat and slowly grows hotter; super spicy is some heat and a bit of a burn and starts the tears. Kung Pao Chicken, big pieces of white meat, tender, nice heat; Orange Chicken, a bit too much breading but ok, need to ask for more heat if you are looking for spicy; mu shu pork is a bit weak in flavor but, nice pork, veggies. Egg rolls seem like them come from the same place as the rest of the world. Service is important to me. They seem to be willing to fix things and add or delete something from the item if requested.

I have wanted to go to this Chinese kitchen for some time. A bit disappointed as the rice was not tasty and the chicken too spicy the place has the usual Chinese food menu and very little seating that makes this the most typical of typical Chinese small kitchen joints. Ey need to step up their service with all the Asian food competition in the area.

Had delivery, ordered at 5.50pm, told it would be 1 hour, driver showed up at 7.30pm. The lady on the phone speak very little english, took 30 minutes just to order and another 10 to understand my credit card number. Food quality: sesame chicken was ok, pork and beef were pretty bad: meet was very low quality and with a lot of fat. Won’t order again.

Very fast service and food is always delicious. They also have fresh fruit smoothies with Tapioca! Great lunch and dinner deals at affordable prices! We always order chinese here for lunch and their mongolian beef is exceptional! I also love their salt and pepper smelt.

Great for takeout lunch. Lunch specials here = Chinatown equivalent of the rice plate. The place is fast, dependable, and easy on the wallet. Food is as authentic«Chinese American» food as you’ll find anywhere else and I’d be hard pressed to say that a Chinatown rice plate would be worth the haul into the city for lunch. The other Chinese food options in the area are pricier, offer less value, and are definitely not as speedy with whipping out my order. I go the few minutes out of my way to come here.

First off, I have to agree with PJ J.(Other reviewer) why are so many reviews filtered for this business ??? It’s strange. About a month back I was in the area waiting on Home Depot that was dragging to meet me for an early afternoon appointment. I walked in and placed an order for a dinner portion. Price was reasonable. I was halfway into the eggroll when I got a call to meet the rep from HD. Bah! Egg roll was good. Went to my meeting, then transported the food home. Took about forty minutes to travel back to Chicago. Even after the length of time which passed the food was still in good condition. I often think the styrofoam containers Chinese fast food is served in wilts vegetables and over saturates the food with water which is built up inside during travel. I got pepper steak with fried rice and had them make both portions extra spicy. Pretty decent for fast food Chinese and at the right price. If dining solo out here again, I might try them for takeout. The business is located in a strip mall and they have 1 — 2 tables with a couple chairs for those dining in. It was already cold season but still it was a bit chilly inside.

Riddle me this, only 1 review on here not filtered? I will call this one a 2.5 solely based on the efforts of my delivery dude. Glove slap to the face for the food though. Forget about the rough service, it’s no big. Come on. Just because we’re in Des Plaines doesn’t give anyone license to deliver marginal Chinese food. Your fried rice NEEDS to be better than Panda Express. Sorry.

I have ordered from Hong Gong many times since they opened and have been happy every time. The food is always ready quickly, even during the busy lunchtime rush, and they give you more than enough. It’s standard takeout Chinese fare with nothing unique but it’s delicious. The only item I’ve disliked were the steamed dumplings that I once ordered as an appetizer, as they were chewy, bland, and had an unpleasant odor. Everything else has been great. The women working at the counter are very friendly and I’m always happy to leave a tip… not only for the food and service but because they do a really good job of packaging everything in the bags for takeout. That might sound schmucky but you’ll understand what I mean if you’ve ever had to fish the soy sauce packets out of pools of spilled broth and sweet & sour sauce.

We had chinese food from Hong Gong Kitchen yesterday and the food was very good. They did, however, neglect to include the crispy noodles that came with the Chicken Chow Mein. We had two dinners ordered and they also cheated us out of the 2nd fortune cookiel. My husband was not a happy camper as he had to eat the chow mein plain. They need to be more conscientious about packing up their orders. We would have rated them a 5 if they had been more on the ball.
