I’d never been before but the potheads reeking of weed and spitting tobacco into a cup when I walked in and the dirty kitchen made me walk out without ordering and get lunch next door at Halligan’s. Nope. Never again. Goodbye.

This review is based on two carry-out visits. My experience was the same each time. The place is basically carry-out with a few tables and even less dining atmosphere. They regularly advertise ‘the biggest haddock dinner in town’ in the local advertisers so I gave it a try — twice. Certainly the haddock filet is HUGE — basically the flank of an entire fish easily ten to twelve inches or better. Enough to feed to normal appetites and then some. The problem is that the haddock is dry. Not sure why unless it has been pretreated with a brine or something that leaches out moisture. It is fried to a golden brown and shows no external sign of being overcooked, yet it is dry. The coating is not greasy either. The dinner comes with generous fries and a few onion rings, both good if not exceptional. The coleslaw is an afterthought. The serving is more a sampler as it was only slightly larger than the modest tartar sauce for a fish serving this size. I prefer Walmart’s coleslaw anyway so I substitute at home. This HUGE Haddock filet dinner is priced at $ 9.99 but the local advertisers carry a coupon for $ 2 off any seafood dinner making this an even more exceptional value, if you like the dryness. This might do better if made into fish sandwiches(easily 4 or more) where additional sandwich fixins’ might mitigate the dryness.

I went here to get a large cheese pizza. I waited 10 minutes to get it(I walked in and ordered to go) so that’s wasn’t bad at all. When I got home and started to eat the pizza I wasn’t that all impressed. The crust wasn’t baked all the way it was still doughy in the center. The sauce was from a can. And it was too greasy for my likening. Overall I won’t get pizza here again. The service was good though

Barbeque chicken pizza was sub par. No seasoning whatsoever. Kind of disappointing considering it looked so appetizing :(

I walked in today for first time, I ordered a roast beef and pizza roll and it came to about 10 bucks. The sitting area is way outdated with one of the TV’s working with the food network on and the other not turned on, lots of clutter near the bathroom. Now the food, the roast beef was not as tender as most places I have been, it was cold and had a brisket texture, gross. The pizza roll was great. Way overpriced for below average roast beef. Won’t be back until they buy better quality roast beef. Not worth the money.

We have been going here for years and it’s seems to be going down hill, the delivery has been slow. The prices vary depending on the order and delivery fees. The food quality is not as good as it used to be. We will be trying other places.

I’ve only really had the roast beef sandwiches from here. It is okay, I go there to get a roast beef sandwich when I don’t want to travel to Kelly’s Roast Beef in Saugus. It’s nothing like Kelly’s, but it will do.

Went up to get some paper work done and had time to kill, so I grabbed lunch here. It is nicely located on a main strip, plenty of parking, and room to eat in. Ordered the junior roast beef combo on an onion roll. Loved it. I’ve had some down in Boston, recently with bad experiences from some restaurants down to Kelly’s. Really enjoyed this spot, and its good to know where I can get lunch next time I’m in town.

The roast beef samiches are decnt. Plenty of meat but I find the sauce a bit bland. It’s ok but nothing special.

We order them as our current primary go-to pizza place right now. That was, until our last order which was not great at all. Soggy, soggy crust. This was a first for us when ordering from them so we will go back – but not before trying somewhere else first. I would normally give 4 stars – if the pizza returns to being good the next time we go, I will come back and edit my rating.

I used to hold this place in high regard(maybe 3 – 4 stars) but I’ve dropped my opinion of them. Let me to preface by saying we have ordered from them many, many times. Perhaps a hundred. But we don’t any more. Pizza is nothing to write home about. Wings suck, no imagination and no size(Paisano’s, although erratic, is something they should strive for). Subs are heavy on the lettuce and veggies and bread, and very little meat, and to top it off, we finally realized their prices were, in some cases, a third higher than their online menu(on their website, which they control); we were wondering why their orders were getting so pricy. We’ve stopped using them; have started experimenting with Blue House pizza and others. I won’t be going back to Jake D’s for a while, which is not a decision lightly made.

My boyfriend and I ordered subs and fries for delivery from Jake D’s recently. One of our friends asked to add on to our order after we already placed it. We called back and added his sub to our order. Almost 2 hours later, our order arrived but instead of all of our food being in the bag, it was just our friend’s sub that we added onto the order. My boyfriend called back to get reimbursed for our subs and fries that never came, as he had everything charged to his debit card. Rather than refunding us, the woman on the phone offered a credit. My boyfriend’s reply, «Why would I want a credit to a place I will never order from again?» After being on the phone for almost 15 minutes fighting to get his card refunded for the food we didn’t receive and dealing with a very rude woman on the other end, we ordered from another local place. A few days ago(almost a month after this happened), my boyfriend checked his bank statement and found that not only did Jake D’s NOT refund his money to his debit card — they charged him twice for an order we never received! Needless to say, we will never order from there again and we will spread the word about the terrible service we received. To top it all off, the sub that our friend ordered that day wasn’t even good! If you are looking for pizza and subs, go somewhere else! Paisano’s in Derry is much better and very friendly staff!

Food is decent, but the girl that answers the phone and works the counter has a seriously negative attitude. She just hangs the phone up without saying thank you or any type of confirmation of your order. Just a cold personality. I understand its a fast pace industry, but get someone who doesn’t hate the world to work for you.

Their pizza is on the greasy side but they are generous with the cheese. It’s not bad and I think it’s better than the«3 lbs of pizza joint. I get the roast beef sandwiches once in a great while and every time I get them I wonder why I don’t order them more often. The buns are great and the tangy, thin BBQ sauce works well here. They are very generous with the meat portions. The same holds true for their buffalo chicken subs — they are absolutely packed with chicken. The meat itself is the standard fried chicken tenders stuff and bottled hot sauce but there’s a lot of both — it’s easily my favorite here(extra napkins are needed for this.) The food arrives quick and the counter staff is friendly enough(the owner/manager is very friendly.)

Nice to have a local wing place. They are pretty good, not overly large wings but not tiny either. They have a good assortment of flavors. My basis for comparison is Wings Express in Waltham, MA which has unbelievable wings. But these guys do all right. Their roast beef is also very good. If you like Chics roast beef in Bradford, MA(?) then this is VERY close to that. We don’t order here often due to distance, but when we do, we are never unhappy.

The Roast Beef Sandwiches are decent here. The thinly sliced roast beef(medium rare), with choice of toppings(lettuce, tomato, mustard, mayo…) is served on a soft baked egg bun. Not too salty. The Pizza has a thin doughy crust with lots of sauce and cheese. Not bad! Look for money saving coupons printed in the Spectrum($ 5.00 off), Coupon Magazine, and on .
