Awesome, it’s my last post-mortem restaurant review… I think. :p Regretful that this place has closed down. The service was always friendly and usually very energetic. Great beer selection, and epic DJ booth in the back dining area as well as, not kidding, «coffin-shaped» dining tables and comfy benches. Pesto mayo was literally half pesto, half mayo — so a lot of pesto! — and tasted like it — the Thai peanut sauce was also a good fry dipper but kinda tastes bottled. Fries were crisp and mid thickness — not steak fries but not chain or string fries either, dusted lightly with rough salt. Eurohouse being played constantly in the back dining area. The sausage and Anaheim, jalapeño, & poblano peppers dish was superb! I’m not sure why this place isn’t still in business. Ruthless building owners jacking up the rent? Conflict with the city? Those are the only hypothetical reasons why this hip place with the great service and the yummo food isn’t with us anymore. That’s life

I’ve been here two times now and just found out that it has closed. Bummer. Although the space was a bit wonky, and the prices were a little steep, I always enjoyed the foot and atmosphere. Good luck on your future endeavors!

We tried to stop by and eat lunch here. The place is closed down. Had a conversation with some folks and they said they were done for good. I went to Rhein Haus on 14th and Market instead, that place is way better for brats and beers anyways

This restaurant is oddly and weirdly arranged. you walk up to the counter, place your order then walk down this long hallway to the seating area. When we walked up to counter we were greeted or should I say accosted by the order taker that spoke to us in a harsh, rude and condescending tone. He preceded to talk to us like we didnt know how to speak English and when we asked simply questions, he would raise his voice like we were misbehaving children. Finally when we were finished with our order, we faced the awkward shock of the extreme price. $ 30 for 2 brats, 1 large fry, and 2 drinks. and this was from the lunch time menu! Now for the food. After about 20 mins our food finally arrives. The brats looked like someone took a normal size brat and squeezed half the filling out to be the width of your index finger. The fries, along with the brats, were burnt, hard and chewy. The buns had the same consistency and taste as the ones you would get at a dollar store plus they place the buns on the grill and each had black burnt grill marks. I was looking forward to go to this place ever since they first opened, but when I finally do, I now wish I hadn’t. There are plenty of places you can eat in downtown Denver, and I would highly suggest that you pass this one up and look somewhere else.

Woah. Loved the modern atmosphere and thoroughly enjoyed the food and the beer. I had the mango jalapeño sausage with sautéed onions and hot peppers on top and it was fantastic. My boyfriend got the pheasant sausage and said it was very savory. We shared the white truffle oil fries with pesto mayo and chipotle aioli. The free cucumber water and endless condiment selection were a nice added touch.

I did a white elephant, ugly sweater get together with some friends here and had an awesome, fun time! If you just want to chill with friends, have a good sausage and fries, come here for sure. For each sausage you pick two out of four toppings. I went with the duck, bacon, and jalepeno sausage with the sweet peppers and carmelized onions. The sauerkraut and spicy peppers looked like good options too. The sausage wasn’t too spicy so I wish I had gone with the spicy instead of sweet peppers but I’m just splitting hairs at that point. I didn’t order the fries but tried some of my friends’ and they were hot and crispy. I was a little confused at first but you order your food at the front and can order a beer up there too. You walk around to the right to the back and there’s a good amount of seating there along with another bar. You get a number to take with you from the front and they’ll bring out your food to you.

This place struck a chord with me when it came to every aspect of the experience. Food — sausages(try the duck and bacon!), best fries I’ve ever had. Beer — great selection of German and Belgian beers Atmosphere — the building couldn’t be any cuter, all brick with big tables. Service — friendly, prompt, perfect

Last night I was truly excited to share Wurstküche with visiting out-of-town friends — but then surprised it was a little slow for a Thursday night… I then asked an employee(waitress or manager?) about the free fries offer, as it was an *incentive* to come in – and she said that she didn’t recall it… Then when we went to order food(after ordering $ 30 in beers), they acknowledged the free fries special but stated we needed a code, and went on to DENY our request for free fries… Our food arrived, and as expected, all of our brats were AWESOME — truly loved the all-new«Filipino Maharlika» — being of Filipino decent, this brat ROCKED! …The same person earlier who didn’t recall the fries special came by and apologized for the issue and gave us a free dessert — very kind. My concern for this awesome establishment is how they’re reaching people, as this experience was made just ok because I felt baited-and-switched — I know it’s just fries — and that’s my point.

Oh. My. Gosh. So glad I found this tucked-away gem! Such phenomenal hot dog/brat selections that are staring you in the face as soon as you walk into the front doors. I decided to go big or go home and got the«Rattlesnake & Rabbit» with sweet peppers(per recommendation of the staff). I also shared some Belgian Fries with a friend and had the«chipotle aoli» dipping sauce. YUM! Affordable, great décor, but was pretty hard to hear people sitting in front of you. Didn’t even care because I was so satisfied with my food!

This place is exactly like the one in LA! I couldn’t believe it when I saw it on my Unilocal search but it is! The layout is exactly the same too so that was nice. However they didn’t have the elderberry soda my mom likes which was a bit of a letdown. We ordered the pheasant dog, the buffalo beef dog, and the rattlesnake rabbit dog, as well as a big order of fries with the tzatziki sauce and the BBQ. Around the corner we went and we chose one of the tables against the wall. Water is free and plentiful, located near the DJ table(do they really have DJs?). The one downside of our visit was the WAIT. Not sure why they were backed up, but they took a long time to bring our food out and I was starving. We kept seeing customers come in and sit down with their numbers; at one point there were eight orders waiting for food! Finally the order arrived and it looked amazing. I dug into my pheasant dog right away and it was DELICIOUS: a very herby, delicate flavor. The addition of caramelized onions and sweet peppers was perfection; I added a bit of brown mustard and YUM the dog was gone in less than five minutes. The fries were delicious as well; not those stubby shoestring fries. These were fat, crispy, yummy fries that tasted awesome with just ketchup and mustard. The tzatziki sauce was very light and I actually didn’t care for the BBQ. Restrooms are located down the long hall and they were very clean. Also, I love how they put an assortment of mustards on the tables for everyone to use at will.

I am thrilled to have Wurstküche in Denver! My first experience was fantastic. Walk in and order your food at the front counter. Your options include a multitude of mouth-watering sausages. The mango & jalapeño turkey and chicken sausage was served hot and juicy with a hint of spice and a perfectly grilled exterior. The bratwurst was hearty and filling and perfect after a long day of hiking. The sausages are served on freshly made buns with your choice of toppings and mustard. Of equal importance, the fries are fantastic. Thickly cut, perfectly fried, soft in the center and perfectly crunchy on the outside. Choose from a variety of dipping sauces. Next, head to the bar and order a beer from Wurstküche’s superb collection of German and Belgian brews. Finally, seat yourself at a small table or one of the large beer-garden style family tables where you can draw on the butcher paper, drink your beer and inhale your food. Service was fast and friendly, parking on the street was easy(and free) and the beer was plentiful.

Everything everything everything! 5 stars from the second you walk in the door. Such helpful service in deciding on beer and on food. Stunning atmosphere. More great service while you are dining. The dogs and fries and sauces, oh my! You just have to go check this out for yourself. The only tiny caveat is that the prices are above average, so this is a «treat yo self» type of place.

I am glad I finally got to try this place. I was in for a work happy hour that turned into a later night beer sesh. Surprise, surprise. I liked most things about Wurstkuche. Behind the bar was one of the most knowledgeable(foreign) beer-tenders I have ever come in contact with. Darn, I wish I would have asked his name but he is medium height, thin and darker blonde. I am going to Germany this month and he was telling me all about the German beers they have and different drinking traditions. It was fascinating and I can’t wait to really experience these for real. Anyway, if you are drinking authentic foreign drafts and have at least 3 – 4, don’t be surprised when your bill in 40+. Don’t come here for the price, come if you really enjoy trying authentic German and Belgium beer. Besides the expense, another reason this delightful place doesn’t earn full stars is because of the weird layout. If you want food, you have to go around to the front and order from the counter. Not the most effective process. We had a new guy working the counter and he had to come to our table to ask our order 2 different times. That might be because they have so many dipping sauces and you get to order 2 or 3 for each fry order. It can get complicated. Don’t go here to find the best deal in town. Go, have a brat and some pricey and delicious German beers and enjoy Denver’s little slice of a *hipster* Germany.

I feel like I’m cheating on Biker Jim’s by saying this, but… I’ve realized I REALLY like Wurstkuche! I love that they have a bunch of chicken, turkey or pork sausages instead of just beef and more exotic options, plus they have not one, not two but three vegetarian options that I’ve been meaning to try. My favorites are the mango jalapeño and the filipino. The topping options are simple but they compliment the sausages without overpowering them. I’m predictable and always get the caramelized onions and sweet peppers. Don’t even get me started on the fries. Thick, crispy and perfectly salted. The curry ketchup is my favorite but none of the dipping sauces have disappointed. I’m not completely sold on the German beers yet, but I will say that it’s a good change up in a city that’s pretty saturated with craft breweries. The last thing I really love about this place is the space itself. It’s big and open, has a nice sized patio and tons of tables, which means it’s never too crowded. Awesome all around.

Every time we visited LA, we tried to make time for Wurstkuche. So when I was walking to the bus one afternoon and saw the name on a downtown Denver building, I could hardly believe it! I visited soon after it opened, and I’ve returned many times since. It’s stylish(and eerily similar to the original – triangle building and all). They have great frites and sauces. There are good sausages, including great vegan options made in-house. There’s Duchess de Bourgougne on tap. The whole beer list is good. There are dispensers of cucumber water around the room. The DJs are always great. What more could you want? A patio? Got that too! So glad this is here and close to home.

If you haven’t been and you love meat, it’s time you visit. This was an all around awesome experience on all 3 occasions I’ve been here. Service has always been amazing and notably if Matt is bartending his suggestions for you flavor profile is really spot on. All the food here it’s amazing and I asked, all nitrate free and wholesome cured meats that someone put hard work and ingenuity into the making of it, and I really appreciate that. Parking isn’t too hard and if you’ve ridden your bike and forget your lock… They actually have locks here you can borrow. Legit service, legit sausage and legit awesome beer, all poured into the correct glass for beer to fit the right person. Rickey also at the bar is an awesome judge of flavor for the personal taste. They have some talent for choices and that’s refreshing when all the beers are literally in another language but delicious.

Absolutely Blown Away! i decided last minute to try Wurstkuche, as its really close to my office and I had heard great things. I was a tad bit confused when I walked in. You see all of the sausages(grab a menu for some more information), and then you walk to the host stand and order what you want. I knew I wanted to try the duck sausage(which also had bacon and jalapenos inside). I asked the host what he would put on top of it. He recommended the caramelized onions and hot peppers, so I obliged. I also ordered a small order of fries with 2 dipping sauces(1 is complimentary, an extra is 75 cents). I tried the Thai Peanut and the Bacon dipping sauces. You walk down a winding hallway to a very large seating area. Its set up very similar to a German Beer Garden, which I think its really cool. Each of the large tables, and a few of the smaller tables have their selections of Mustards/Ketchup(about 6 total). The look/feel of the restaurant is very smooth, clean, and modern(which I love). I even noticed a DJ booth over to the side. About the food: My sausage was incredible. Perfectly juicy, large enough for a full meal, and the vegetables on top(onions and peppers) were very fresh. The bun was great, not super dense, and warmed. The fries. Oh my. the fries. The fries were PERFECT. Amazingly crispy, cut thick, and a perfect portion. I was also happy with my dipping sauce selection. The Thai Peanut is definately a must try! The service: Fantastic. There were two ladies walking around asking lots of questions about the food, giving advice for future orders, and just presenting great smiles around. I will certainly be back, as I was wowed by my experience!

Sausage, beer and extra crispy fries? How could you ever go wrong?! They have classic, gourmet, and exotic sausages. Honestly I want to try them all! From classic bratwurst to exotic lamb and Mediterranean spices, they take great care to make sure anything you get is perfectly cooked, topped with your choice of caramelized onions, sauerkraut, sweet or spicy peppers, and bundled up in a soft, warm bun! YUM! They have tons of condiments too for the fries and the sausages. Think all the different kinds of mustards in the world haha. Furthermore the beer selection is great and the glasses they use are awesome as well. :)

As part of a Unilocal event we tried Wurstküche this past Friday. I enjoyed it. They have a great selection of beers, a newly renovated space, outstanding outside areas, and skylights to bring the light into the building. It’s obvious no expense has been spared in the renovation of this old Denver building; it was close to a complete gut/renovate. A new structure has been built behind the old to house the prep kitchen and the bathroom. A deck with outdoor seating provides a view back toward the baseball stadium. You wait in line at the front to order your dinner — or just sit down and get beers and go up later to order food. A large glass case shows all the different types of sausages, and they are cooked to order. We tried several samples but in the end went with the basics — Bratwurst. It was tasty, cooked to perfection, and the optional toppings(fried onions, peppers) added to the flavor. The fries were tasty, but I didn’t particularly like the truffle oil(optional) on mine. I’d stick with the basics. This is the third location for this business; the first two are in Los Angeles, and are popular with Unilocalers. Note — this is a variant of «fast casual»; no table service, you get up to order your food, get a number, and the food it brought to you. Want more? Repeat the process. With many long tables, reminiscent of a German beer-hall environment, this is a great place for large groups, and meet-ups where folks arrive and leave at different times. I’ll be back. A great place to meet up with friends before a baseball game.(And note; it’s only a 5 – 6 block walk to Coors Field from here. If you park east of Broadway, most parking is free after 4PM on the streets, and always free on Sunday). Save the $ 5-$ 10 on parking and get another beer or two! And, as a final note, Wurstküche occupies the former location of the Denver Triangle, which for 30 years or so was the only gay leather bar in Denver. It only goes to show you that some things never change; it’s still a location to find a high quality selection of sausages, of different sizes, colors, and flavors.

For those of you who don’t know about Wurstküche, let me blow your mind: it’s literally a «sausage kitchen» that’s better than Biker Jim’s or Über Sausage or any other sausage place you might know. Its first 2 locations are in Los Angeles(and its not surprising that the 3rd is in our beer– and sausage-loving town of Denver). Having lived in LA, I can also tell you they’ve got a line out the door and a huge following. «Why?» — you may ask. Let me tell you: –The sausages are absolutely f’in delicious. –The fries are the best fries you’ll ever have. –There’s an awesome selection of real German and Belgian beer. –The«dining room» is a really well-designed, open space with lots of natural wood, long beer-hall-style tables, and its own bar. –It’s open 11am-midnight every day, and I spotted a DJ table, so it’s a great late-night hangout spot. THEFOOD You really can’t go wrong with any of the sausage here. My personal favorites are: — Bratwurst(typical German sausage; great with onions and sauerkraut) — Louisiana Hot Link(if you want something spicy) — Pheasant with Herbs de Provence(mild and herby) — Sun-Dried Tomato and Mozzarella(juicy and delicious) ANDTHEFRIES! Oh my god, the fries — do NOT forget to get some fries. Let me tell you about these fries. These are the best fries you’ll ever have. They’re thick, soft on the inside, crispy on the outside, and sprinkled with big flecks of salt. Wurstküche goes through a long process to make these so good: soaking them overnight to get rid of the starchiness, blanching them, and then frying them 3 times. And you can choose from 10 different sauces to go on the side!(I recommend trying the Pesto Mayo.) THEBEER One of my favorite things about Wurstküche is the selection of real German and Belgian beers. None of this«German-style» or «Belgian-style» crap that doesn’t taste anything like the originals(sorry, I’m not sorry). I highly recommend the Warsteiner Dunkel(a traditional German dark beer with notes of toffee, coffee, and nuts). And my personal favorite is the Weihenstephaner Dunkelweizen(I know, it’s a mouthful). It tastes like a dark hefeweizen(so it’s sweet and wheaty), and in my opinion, it’s one of the best beers ever — and Beer Advocate agrees. HOWITWORKS Wurstküche works like this: You walk in and order at the front counter. Then you walk down the hall into the«dining room» and sit down at a table. And as I mentioned, this space is pretty great. It’s a well-designed, open room with lots of natural wood, long beer-hall-style tables, and its own bar(so you don’t have to go back to the front to order more food/drinks). There’s also a great outdoor space that’s perfect for the coming warm weather. P. S. You can buy the sausages to cook at home. Yes, you heard it right. At 30% off the list price, they’ll wrap up the sausages in paper and you can take them home.

I’m casting my vote for a name change to sore eyes for beer and brats. Dear Germany, I write on behalf of Denver. Is it not a problem when the cheapest beer is more expensive then the most expensive dinner option? Who does that? I’m guessing the kegs are lined with gold and silver from Germany. This will surely start some beer conspiracy theories. Seriously, let me know when the beer prices come back to earth and I’ll come back. Until then, I’m trying a $ 7 brat(which makes your beer more than that) and going elsewhere for beer. My suggestion, come for lunch and you won’t even be thinking about beer. Later sore eyes for beer and brats!

I came here for the soft opening last night. They were sponsoring a charity event for community youths. Already right there I’m like, «This business is Legit.» I got invited because I have a way with words. Right from the walk in the door I was like this place is going to be dope! When you first walk in you see preps cooking meats and as you turn your head down the line you see a huge glass fridge full of every kind of sausage you can think of. Before I could read all of them, a man came up to me and handed me a menu and flipped it over and said, «Please, choose a beer.» You don’t have to tell me twice. They have a HUGE selection of imported beers, mostly from Germany. Did I just step into the American version of Oktoberfest? Yes, yes I did. I decided on a delicious cider. Then, the previous man from earlier told me to pick a sausage and a sauce for my fries. I was told by an employee to get the lamb with some sauce I can’t pronounce but it’s made with Greek yogurt. My southern girl in me pushed me to get the hot link with caramalized onions and spicy peppers. My friend got the tomato basil. I got the blue cheese/bacon and sun dried tomato mayo for fry sauces. After«paying», we walked around a long hallway to HEAVEN! This place is soooo dope. They have lots of comfy but open booths. There’s a mini room next to the Dj booth for a little VIP are or private section. We sat in the main area where there is a bunch of luxury picnic tables and benches. One of the servers told me it to great a feel of getting to know your community and to make new friends. GENIUS! Our food came out hot fresh and ready within 10 – 15 minutes. Nothing was less than amazing. I understand this place will eventually be ultra-loungy. They had a nice DJ playing contemporary groove music. They also have a huge bar with tons of beer taps in the back. This place is totally my style and I will be back. This may be my new favorite bar. Davonte is the best. Five star service all around!
