«Wee Katie’s friends!!! We have closed our kitchen until further notice. The bar is still open from 3−11pm everyday.»

Was so excited to try out this new pub in the Highlands. Showed up for an early dinner at 5:30pm today and it was closed. On a Thursday afternoon. No sign on the door. No explanation on the website. WTF!!! So lame. Guess we’ll stick to our favorite joint up the hill, Highland Tavern. Oh yeah, told some people over at Highland Tavern it was closed and they told us they close early whenever they feel like it. All the time. Doesn’t even deserve one star. As other reviewers have pointed out, the only reason this place has over 4 stars on Unilocal is due to fake reviews. We’re on to you, Wee Katie. Get your s**t together, seriously.

Well, um, the interior is really great and would be an awesome place to go for dinner and drinks, but… they don’t have much of a menu. I thought that they would have a larger menu than what we were offered as it does indicate«restaurant» in the name. Basically there were approximately 6 entrée options. The food was just sub par to me(my husband did really like the Shepard’s pie). The burger was«eh» in the wow factor, as well as the fish and chips. Also, we thought it was weird there was only one other group of people in the whole place(dinner on a Sunday night). Weird as in the great ratings for this restaurant don’t reflect it. Service was nice enough. If you want a nice place for your drinking book club to meet… this might be the place. :-) Seems to me that when I read into other reviews, many people had similar thoughts and experiences. Also noticed that a lot of the 5 star reviews were from people with little Unilocal activity…

A friend of mine and a fellow Unilocaler really wanted to check this place out so I joined him one night to see what it was all about. When we were walking out, we both agreed that we didn’t know what to make of it, which is usually not a great sign! It was fairly empty when we got there but it seemed really nice inside so we grabbed a seat near the fireplace and ordered one of a number of British /Irish beers on tap. We happened to make it for happy hour so we went with the potato cakes, which turned out to be very similar to crab cakes and were fantastic. For dinner, we ordered the shepherd’s pie, which was okay. Where my confusion and disappointment came in was from the expectation. Before we went, I scoured their website for the menu and found all of these great dishes. Then the waitress tells me where are other locations(which I was unaware of) and that the menu I was reading was for another location. Really? Well, the website clearly failed. Then she started going off about items we could order on the weekends but not on weekdays. When we asked more questions, she told us she only works during the week and doesn’t know anything about the weekends. So this left us thoroughly confused. So you’re telling me there is a full menu but it’s not for this spot, but if you want certain dishes then you have to come on the weekend, but otherwise you get this dinky minimal menu that is overall super disappointing?! To top everything else off, have you been to 16th Street or anywhere in Denver around the holidays! Christmas lights all over and the feeling of Christmas. This place, well, they missed the memo. Maybe it’s run by Scrooge but not a place I’ll come back to during the holidays. Sort of depressing. One last note, this place is over rated on Unilocal… way too many people reviewing with only one review = no credibility.

After debating a review for more than a week. here goes: My wife and I went into Katie’s last week around 5:00 pm. We were the only customers in the place at that point. It looked gorgeous; really nice job with the interior and the theme. The server greeted us and took our drink order; she failed to mention that half of the menu would not be available that evening. Literally HALF! The remaining options were very limited, so much so that my wife settled for a grilled cheese. The potato cake appetizers came: one was cooked, one was nearly raw. No server around to check on us and keep in mind there were now 3 – 4 customers TOTAL in the restaurant. Entrees came(«would you like another drink»… phrase not uttered); my Sheperds Pie was good. My wifes grilled cheese came out, two pieces of bread with two slices of cheese. not even melted. We were never asked how everything was. We were treated like we had just picked up bad food at a carry out and were just hanging out eating said food. For a second I thought we were at Chubby’s. Total disappointment. We will not be going back.

Such a quaint and inviting place! We stopped in on a snowy night for some beers and sat near the fireplace. We immediately felt welcomed and ordered a Guinness and a Smithwicks. Great beer and liquor selections. We didn’t order any food, but can’t wait to come back for trivia on Thursdays.

Hidden gem in the LoHi neighborhood. We’ve been a couple of times and have never been disappointed with the food, drinks, or service. The ambiance is perfect for intimate get togethers.

Super tasty food. Strong drinks. What more can you ask for? They stop serving food a lil early, so get there before 9!

After a rough start(stale beer, no fries), Wee Karie’s definitely redeemed themselves. We got new beer at no charge, the prices were very reasonable, and the food was all amazing. Sitting on the patio, wee also had a great view of downtown. Wee would definitely come back for another visit.

Empty when we arrived, ordered a beer that was flat, they were out of fries so far this sounds like a bad review right? But wait, they remedied the beer situation, the food was amazing, the prices reasonable, and the service great without being intrusive!

Thank god there’s finally a good Irish bar in the neighborhood. Truthfully we came in for drinks and apps during happy hour so I can’t comment on dinner items but the Jameson and coke was STRONG which was great and the Frenched Chicken Drummies were great(sort of like buffalo wings but better)…I’d comment more but they’re telling me that they’re about to start the GOLDFISHRACES… yep…it is exactly how it sounds.

The best food I’ve ever had at a Irish pub bar none. Try the dry rub chicken tenders and the potato cake trio, you won’t be disappointed. The lamb is amazing as well, raised locally from Colorado. You can’t go wrong with this place.

Huge fan after only one visit. This restaurant is still very new so the clientele was sort of scarce. There are three patios in the back with pretty good views. I think if the owners market the location a little better there would not be an empty seat. Also, you can’t beat $ 4 Jameson every day. The only reason I give them a 4 star rating is I think the food is a little spendy.

When you enter the restaurant is gorgeous and so inviting, but our experience went downhill immediately. When the woman in our party asked the bartender what wines do you carry. His answer«red and white.» It wasn’t a joke he had no idea. I get it’s an Irish bar and us guys were drinking whiskey and Guinness, but he has not been trained or doesn’t care, either one unacceptable. The music was also very loud and at 6:45 in the evening, with only one other table in the restaurant eating(sharing an appetizer), it took about a half hour to get our two appetizers,(one, our second choice because they were out of our first choice). The manager was very nice and friendly but he needs to train and manage his staff, the slow service front and back of the house was unacceptable. We will go back and give it another shot because it is a lovely building with great ambiance.

Wee Katie’s is a beautiful establishment in the LoHo(lower Highland) Neighbor of Denver. They offered great food, at a reasonable cost, I recommend(and had) the Full Irish Breakfast. It’s the best rendition I have had since my visit to Cork, and when paired with a Guinness it is the best cure for a hangover! Along with Guinness, the have plenty of local, and Irish beers both on draft, and in bottle. My group visited Wee Katie’s for a Saturday Morning brunch, the restaurant was relatively empty, so the Bar tender/Server Wally(SP) was able to spend extra time with our table, allowing us to request songs, and just generally chat with us. The combination of wonderful food, and fantastic service, will make Wee Katie’s a most for the next time I’m in Denver.

Came here with the family to try something new. Very pleasantly surprised! Great service, interesting menu with lots of choices. The Irish breakfast is perfect. They have a happy hour menu I can’t wait to try. Really pleasant patio with a great view of downtown and the poor sots stuck on I-25. I bet the view at sunset is awesome. Perfectly poured Guinness and some local drafts as well. We will be back soon! Definitely on our rotation, especially for the food.

First time here, on St. Patrick’s day, it was great! Larry the owner was friendly and very welcoming. Larry sat and talked to me and my wife. Not very common of business owners now a days. Definitely recommend the place. Great addition to the neighborhood, and the most authentic irish pub in the area, or state for that matter.

Well I am officially a fan and can’t wait to see it develop as the spot to be in this neighborhood. I use to hang out at a pretty cool Irish joint all the time when I lived in California, and all I wanted to do was find something at least a tad similar. Katie’s has totally surpassed my expectations. They serve food late, have great beer prices for happy hour, and awesome bartenders which is pretty much my prerequisites for a local bar. I was sold just after looking at the menu… shepherds pie, irish stew, scotch eggs, and I was in love seeing Chicken Curry & Bangers and Champ as specials throughout the week. I am excited to try so many things on the menu as well as come back here for Brunch! This summer it will be the spot to sit on the patio and have a beer or three, paired with $ 4 Jameson shots, it will be hard to get rid of me.

Wee Katie’s just recently opened so we came here to check it out. I have to say this place truly looks very much like the taverns I frequented in Ireland. This location is basically a smaller version of the original Katie Mullens located downtown. Hence the name. The smaller space at this location creates a more cozy feel for sure and the attention to details big and small I think paid off including the stone work under the bar. The layout includes two bar areas, cozy booths, couches, a elevated patio in the back and even a gas fireplace to warm yourself. The menu is quite good and includes Scotch Eggs appetizer $ 7(yum) and daily main dish specials Monday-Friday. There is a daily happy hour from 3pm-7pm. Hands down… the best small yet always needed feature are the outlets located under the bar to charge your phone and laptop. Finally someone thought of doing this! Brilliant.
