Great sandwich! A little bit of a wait but worth it, if you have the time.

This café is built into an old two story house. The busing itself is really unique and very cool. There’s a lot of seating, and most of it feels pretty private since its in different rooms. The menu has a lot to offer. I ordered an almond milk cappuccino and it was pretty good. I would go again because it’s a cool place to hang out or get work done, but I’d probably go somewhere else if I wanted over the top coffee.

Love this café! It’s an amazing place to study and their coconut chia pudding is heaven in a mason jar!

Like Kendall, below, my fondness for The Weathervane came quickly after my move to Denver. In my case, I first visited this delightful café about 14 hours after arriving in the city. At the time, I was looking into living in the neighborhood and, after scanning the nearby establishments, surmised this would be a frequent go-to, especially on weekend mornings. Though I do not live in the neighborhood, I have come back several times. It’s worth the drive. It’s just that great. To start, it has the perfect homespun coffee house atmosphere: Cheery, cozy, generally quiet, small but not tiny, warm, and so on. Things in this what-used-to-be-a-house(and, really, still is) are very laid back. Take a seat on one of the sofas on the bottom floor or head upstairs for a table, if one below is not free. Enjoy the various handmade crafts and gifts, or browse the shelves of preserves and other treats. Say hi to Alex and Lindsay, the owners and ever-welcoming hosts. Enjoy your visit; do not rush. On to the menu! I appreciate the ready-when-you-are french press coffee – there’s nothing like the 5-minute wait to suck the enthusiasm of ordering french press – and you get a free refill, too. The breakfast options I have tried – egg sandwich, breakfast burrito – were lovely, too. The burrito was a bit spicy but had less girth than many other breakfast burritos that leave you feeling stuffed but also immobile.(I mean this in a very good way.) And the side of housemade salsa was a winner. I need to try the lunch options sometime, which sound lovely and vary with several vegan/vegetarian options. Same goes for the sweets in the window, some savory and some sweet. Had I decided to live nearby, the owners likely would know me well by now. I’ve not really found a better, quainter café in Denver so far(though it’s only been a few months). What better place to sit and read a book, overhear conversations about why she«never» makes New Year’s resolutions or her crazy-ass former roommate or whether a younger brother can buy his sister a Weathervane trinket as the Christmas gift he still«owes» her, sip a coffee or tea, and enjoy the day’s start? In a big town like Denver, it’s the small-owned places like The Weathervane that stand out. And, oh, they stand out.

Is it okay to say«this is my favorite coffee shop in Denver» when you’ve only lived in Denver for one and a half days? Sure! Of course I know I’ll discover and love many a coffee shop — and The Weathervane Café is definitely more than JUST a coffee shop — but whatever you want to call it, it’s the kind of place I walked into and immediately adored. Weathervane is tiny, charming, and whimsical. It’s warm and cozy and curious. They have a fairly comprehensive menu for being such a teeny place — different kinds of fancy-sounding oatmeals, granola, both breakfast and lunch sandwiches, soup, hummus, chocolate pudding? Yes, chocolate pudding and carrot cake and sourdough pretzels and an assortment of baked goods. Plenty of gluten free and vegetarian options and relatively healthy choices all around. I haven’t even mentioned the beverages yet. OH, the drinks of plenty! Craft coffee(local milk and honey if you want), house made syrups like orange clove, vanilla bean, anise, and lavender to add to your brew or turn into an Italian soda, hot tea, locally made sodas, carrot or orange juice, rooibos lattes… a really nice list and the prices are right. Everything is pretty much between $ 2.15 and $ 3.50 for your 8, 12, or 16 ounce pours. Thank you, Weathervane. For lunch I had the Ham & Berry Chevre sandwich on gluten free bread for $ 7.50, and it was spectacular. One good sized sammy grilled and split into two halves. The cranberry cinnamon goat cheese and lemon thyme aioli combined for the most decadent, flavorful, memorable bites. I ate the entire thing and wanted more. Good thing your sandwich comes with a side of sliced cucumbers(seasoned with pepper and dill) or sourdough pretzels. I had the cucs of course, and they were crisp and bright and lovely. CANNOTWAIT to return. With the complimentary wifi, I foresee many a morning and afternoon lounging at The Weathervane Café, enjoying the unique mismatched décor and deciding which little artsy, locally made trinket I’d like to buy from their gift shop.

Great sandwiches! Don’t dress up, people will stare . Have to go back and try the coffee… Better dye my hair blue first! Friendly staff and cute signs advising not to comb your hair or clip your finger nails at the table — good to know!

I’ve driven down 17th avenue several times, and I can’t believe I’ve missed out on this cute little café all these times! The humble exterior of the café contrasts the ornate interior; there are wonderful knickknacks decorated throughout the café that transport you back to the 70s and really make the whole place feel cozy. The food is equally amazing. I ordered an iced Rooibos latte and a ham and berry chevre sandwich with a side of dill pickles. It was a perfect lunch to say the least, especially on a hot late summer day. If you’re around the neighborhood, I’d highly recommend popping into the Weathervane Café. I myself am very excited to return.

This place is my new favorite! It is gorgeously decorated with amazing food and just every bit of perfect. They really do have amazing coffee drinks and food. The peach melt and the west African peanut soup were TODIEFOR! I could go on and on about this place!

I am a visitor from Texas and found this gem that even my local native friend didn’t know about. We had the breakfast burritos, ham and berry sandwich, a vanilla bean latte, and the rooibos latte. The food was delicious and so were our drinks. I particularly like that they have the rooibos latte because I am pregnant and I miss drinking coffee. The flavor was mild and sweet without the caffeine and all the healthy nutrients I need. I never had this tea before and I will be definitely looking for more rooibos teas and lattes like this!

Starbucks, I’mma let you finish but the Weathervane has the best Lavender Almond Milk latte of all time. Of. All. Time. Everyone in my party tried their different home-made syrups and loved them. One of my favourite flavours of all time(of all time) is lavender and here the syrup was not too sweet, just the right amount of herbal perfume without eating a bar of soap, all-around perfect. It also helped that the charming ladies serving us were so helpful and sweet themselves. In addition, there’s $ 5 breakfast burritos, lavender lemonade and a vintage store inside. Reasonably priced coffee including cortados on the menu(which is really simple but not a lot of places know what that is… I’m looking at you Starbucks). There’s a patio and up some winding stairs hang bright bunting over vintage sofas. The shop is set on trendy 17th Ave but looks to be one of the original houses and so charming! It’s the type of place you could find yourself settling in getting lost in a book, like a home away from home.

Excellent! In town visiting for a long weekend. Whenever I travel I make it a point to check out local coffee shops. The Weathervane far exceeded my hopes. The cold brew is smooth, not acidic and bitter like some other Denver spots. And the food is superb. Over the course of the trip my boyfriend and I tried the homemade pop tarts, coconut chia pudding, lavender shortbread, pistachio bread, and the breakfast burrito. All of which were phenomenal. The décor is as spot on as the menu. If I lived here this would surely be my go-to spot. I cannot recommend it enough!

Came here today to escape from my apartment while studying for an exam. I sat inside for about 2 hours trying to focus on the material in front of me. The experience was overall very good. My only complaint would be the lack of pastries available today(which could be because of the time or the fact that it was a weekday). I had seen some fabulous photos on Unilocal and it seemed that everything was either sold out or not available today. The coffee was fabulous — strong and hot. Everything I needed to help with my studying. The baristas were super cool. Present if you needed them but giving you your space if you were focused on your computer. The seats are actually super comfortable. They have these old school padded vinyl chairs that are wonderful while sitting for a long period of time. My bum didn’t go numb which is a HUGE plus. One quick gripe that has nothing to do with Weathervane. There was a gal in here who thought it complete appropriate to talk loudly on her cell phone. I am under the impression that if I am in a coffee shop you either(a) go outside to answer your phone or(b) do NOT take the call. I am completely fine with people chatting as this is a great place to meet a friend or colleague; however talking on your phone while people are trying to study, work or visit is so rude. Sorry — little side rant. Thanks for a great study spot! I truly appreciate it!

A bit hard to find with only street parking available. Gluten free and vegan options. Serve local coffee and kombucha! Enjoyed visiting this place!

Okay, this place is amazing! From the unassuming exterior(complete with one of those so-gaudy-it’s-great spiked fences) to the quaint and cozy interior, everything is a pure delight! The staff was polite, friendly and so on top of their game that the two of them were able to bust out drink after drink and plate after plate in a timely manner, despite a rush of customers. I ordered a lavender latte and a breakfast sandwich, both of which were very good! I’m a lavender lover so I was overjoyed to see such a unique syrup flavor offered. And the space itself is just really fun to sit in. There’s so many quirky details to take in(we loved the plates and coffee cups!) and the upstairs floor seemed like a cool space to hang out in. Oh and they have a section of local goodies on the shelves across from the register, where I found a jar of lavender honey and my life’s happiness. We will definitely be back to this adorable place!

Cozy spot, good vibe, friendly staff. Had the beefeater sandwhich which, I will warn you, POW Hot on the horseradish but I loved it. I also had the coconut chia pudding which was bangin! Surprisingly delicious for being vegan. Will be back for more of that.

A friend recommended this place, and I’m so glad I came! I was told to go upstairs, but it was so cozy by the counter that I just picked a seat close by. I had a lavender latte and toast with honey, both of which were very good. I noticed that they have a lot of flavors for lattes, and the barista told me that they make a syrups themselves. I’ll definitely be back to try the other flavors. One of my favorite things about this place was the service. There were two baristas when I walked in. I was a little nervous at first because they looked like the kind of baristas that delight in making you feel stupid for asking questions. I was really, really wrong with that assumption. They answered all of my questions, and were totally cool with the toast and honey thing(it’s not really on the menu). Upon sitting down, I learned that they also had extensive knowledge of my favorite time/universe leaping shows, such as ‘Sliders’ and ‘Quantum Leap’. It’s always a relief to discover that baristas are real people, and not just robots who happen to know more indie bands than you do. Anyway, the latte was super good, and the toast and honey was delicious. Before I left I decided to take a peek at the upstairs and I loved it! It’s bright and warm and inviting! I noticed that there were quite a few outlets, and signs above them alerting guests that ‘campers’ are welcome which is great if you get caught up in a book and don’t want to leave right after finishing your drink. I can’t wait to visit again!

Rustic culture and homespun character for days at the Weathervane. It’s perfect if you want to feel like you play in a bluegrass band for a morning. Great for an impressive breakfast date. But, I most often visit little cafes to get in some computer work time, and the Weathervane is a little too cozy to do that comfortably. Plus, they play their music a little loud to focus on the task at hand.

Positives: –good service –makes me feel green, healthy, and earthy –great ambience –love all the little details that give it a «rustic» feel –small café feeling, seems like if you go there often, they will definitely know your name –food was pretty good Negatives: –it was a bit pricey, but I guess that’s what you should expect for«healthier food» –service wasn’t quite as amazing as I thought it would be Went here for breakfast. Got the oatmeal-$ 4. It came in a little jar, which I thought was strange but then realized you had to let it cook for awhile. The woman who took my order was very nice, but nothing out of the ordinary. She pointed me out to the back of the place where they had honey, liquid sugar, and other condiments. The oatmeal was pretty good, but it took awhile before I could eat it. At least I got it very quickly after I ordered. The best part about the place is the ambience. Feels just nice to be in there. They have all the details down. Sort of like Disneyland. Bottom line: This is a place my fiancée would love. For me it was just nice. I’m sure she would give it a five stars though. I would advise coming here at least once.

Nice little coffee spot. They have almond milk and make their own simple house syrups. Great grilled ham and cheese sandwich and grilled panini style breakfast burrito. Homemade pastries sell out early. We were there at noon and most were gone. Had an interesting basil and chocolate muffin that was deliciousness.

Our barista looked like a Flume-listening bucket-hat wearing tattoo-bearing Urban Outfitters poster boy and I enjoyed that. His hipster flare matched this place’s décor. It’s like a café taken from a Wes Anderson movie-super kitschy-except maybe it’s a little less clean cut than a Wes Anderson scene(70s couches that quite possibly are from the 70s based on how worn they are).(Our barista was very friendly, genuine and helpful BTW). There’s a narrow and steep staircase that leads to the upstairs where you can lounge on a couch and enjoy your coffee, sit at the 60s table or go into the side room where 2nd hand clothes are sold(extremely random location for a thrift shop). There are also French-doors up on the 2nd floor that lead to an outdoor space with more tables and chairs. It’s enclosed so there’s not much of a view. Downstairs there are some 70s looking couches and TV dinner trays that you can pull out to enjoy your drink on. They have a ViewMaster toy next to an old metal, functioning, fan among other random décor that they have. I don’t mean to digress so much into the atmosphere and ambience rather than focus on the food and drinks but if you’re anything like me, the quality of the food or drink can greatly be enhanced or degraded by the environment you’re in. Aesthetics is probably 70% of the dining experience. I’ll honestly give this place 5 stars based on their honey-lavender vanilla tea latte alone. I don’t think a drink screams«Brenda» more than that drink right there. It’s utterly delightful and undeniably tasty. Now I’ve had tea lattes at dozens of other places but I still extremely appreciate it when it’s offered on menus. Steamed frothy milk is such a comfort drink for me. I anticipate on getting more tea lattes in the future, particularly when the cold weather approaches. I heard this place’s wifi is spotty so I wouldn’t personally come here to do any hard-core studying. They also sell jams and other goods if you wish to get a gift.
