When I made my appointment with BCC, I was told that I could bring my kids if they could sit in the waiting area. So, I went to my appointment and was turned away upon arrival because I had to bring one of the kids. Thanks! He had his game, which was fully charged because I knew he would have to wait, and he was ready to wait for a bit while I had my way overdue mammogram(I was due in September 2015). Now, they say I can reschedule?! Great. That’s really convenient for a working mother of three. Thanks, St. Joe’s BCC. It was great to get up this morning and drag the kid out of the house only to arrive and be told, «No!» I’ll reschedule for another time, you know, that time when I’m not at work and am kid free. I appreciate all of your understanding and help. Finally, I’ll leave you with a tip… next time, don’t say alright to something and then say that it’s not okay and to reschedule after your client arrives! It’s upsetting and unprofessional.

Every woman should have a mammogram done. I think the suggested age for the first baseline mammogram is 40 years old, but please don’t quote me on that. I have been going to the Saint Joseph Hospital Breast Care Center for quite a few years now. I have walked in for my mammogram both with and without an appointment. I think it’s easier with an appointment, so I suggest you do that. The staff are friendly and very caring. After taking your insurance information, you have a short wait, and are then taken to the back, where you are given a gown to wear, and a locker to lock up your personal items. You wait in a separate room in the back, where the technician comes and gets you, and take you to the room for the mammogram. Many woman say that mammograms hurt. I don’t think they do. Yes there is a little bit of squeezing, actually, call it a slight pressure. BUT the way I look at it, for 5 –10 minutes TOTAL pressure(not constant, as each breast is x-rayed in two different ways with a slight break in between each one), you get a «peace of mind,» knowing that you are cleared for breast cancer. Yes, mammograms are not 100% accurate, but I’ll take it! I had my first baseline mammogram at 30 years old, as my mother had breast cancer. I’ve had one every year since, so, I’ve had quite a few(and I won’t say how many, LOL!) Go and get your mammogram done ladies! It’s worth it! Thank you

My first mammogram and although I put it off for as long as possible because of the stories I heard about the squishing and the uncomfortableness, my experience here was wonderful. First, I will mention they have free valet parking, so you don’t have to worry about your car downtown. Everyone was extremely and genuinely nice. The valet, the receptionist, the intake counselor and the technician were all great representatives of the breast care center. They all made the experience smooth and carefree. It went faster than I expected as everyone was professional and kept it moving. The warmed exam gowns were a nice touch. I was glad my primary referred me to this place — it was the best medical experience I have had.
