Tried the steak sandwich at the Golden Farmer’s Market today. Meh. The bread was too crusty. The sandwich was dry(lettuce, tomato, steak, no sauce of any sort). I also had the quinoa salad which was very bland. I’ll try a different food vendor next time.

Sorry Route 40 Argentinean Grill for this review… Met you at the Civic Center Eats 2013, OFTHELASTDAY, Thursday September 26th2013 for Lunch. My friend ordered the 5280 Combo which consists of Steak Sandwich with the Chimi Fries. She said the Steak was cold and dry. The Meat was under-seasoned. The Bread was Dry but the Chimi Fries were Good. My friend even added the Chimi Fries on the Meat aka Steak Sandwich, then the Sandwich was Edible. So sad. Is it because of the«weather»? Is it because it took her so long to find a place to eat that made the Steak Sandwich cold. *BIGMAJORSIGH* So disappointing. Spent $ 10, but it was such a disappointing Lunch. Did she ordered the wrong item from the Menu? She rated her lunch as 1.5 stars. Even when I did get a little bite of the sandwich, I nearly«gagged»… ***BIGSADFACE*** ***TRIPLESIGH*** Sorry Route 40 Argentinean Grille… Perhaps one day, I might want to order from Route 40 Argentinean Grille to make a fair assessment and perhaps my review might differ. But for now, I am in NO Hurry… @212/2013

I visited this food truck in the DTC. Service was fast and the staff was friendly. My food was mostly quite good. The chimichurri french fries were excellent(if a tiny portion). My steak sandwich was tasty, but had a bit of gristle. My only real complaint would be that I spent $ 12(including drink) and didn’t really get full. This seems a bit steep for lunch. I saw other people’s comments on «getting a lot of steak for the price», but that was not my experience on this particular day.

Basically middle-of-the-pack, C-average, straight down the middle. I went to a food truck party a couple weeks ago, and these guys were there. Friendly enough staff was helpful, which is nice as I’m not used to Argentine food and wanted to ask a couple questions, which they answered pleasantly. Got a «Lamb Slider» combo, which was two sliders and some chimichurri fries. The fries were DELICIOUS, the chimichurri was amazing, and the fries were well cooked, nice and crunchy, soft in the middle, and hot. The sliders were tasty as well. The bad though? $ 9+ for two tiny sliders and about 30 fries. The sliders were half-dollar sized, old-school JFK50 cent piece patties and a bun. The fries came in a small side tray, about the size of two iPhones stack on one another. It was barely even a snack, let alone a $ 9 «combo». That is my only complaint.

I tried Route 40 at Civic Center Eats. I ordered the Milanesa(breaded steak sandwich) and the fries. Despite being the fifth person in line, it took me less than ten minutes to get my sandwich. And the sandwich tasted pretty good — the steak was cooked right and the chimichurri sauce on top worked — but was way too oily(exemplified by the big puddle of oil in the styrofoam box). The fries were unexceptional and unseasoned. The steak wasn’t seasoned either. Overall, I think they rely on the chimichurri sauce to provide more flavor than it actually provides.

So since i was downtown during lunch, my coworkers and I decided to grab some food at the civic center eats. I was really suprised by the number of different food trucks and people there. Each truck had a line of at least 10 – 15 people. I ended up getting their 5280 combo which consisted of a steak sandwich and chimi fries for $ 10. Not much of a deal since your really only saving a buck since the steak sandwich is $ 8 reg, and the fries $ 3. With a coke the meal came out to about $ 12. So definitely not a cheap lunch by any means. THe sandwich was good and had a good portion of meat. The meat was a little difficult to tear so the sandwich was a little messy to eat. Added some of the chimi sauce for some extra flavor since i love cilantro. The fries were really oily due to the chimi sauce, still tasted good but could use more kick. Overall a good sandwich!

I just noticed this truck parked across the street. Yahoo! I love Argentina and I love food trucks! Today the menu was grilled steak, chicken or Argentinean sausage, a quinoa salad, a Milanesa sandwich, and a couple of other things. I wanted SO bad to get the Milanesa, which is breaded steak on a roll, but kept it slightly healthier with just the steak. The 3 things that make a sandwich stellar, are the protein, the bread and the spread. The steak was cut thin, grilled to perfection, served with lettuce and tomato on a grilled baguette. Per their recommendation, I added some chimichurri sauce, which was just what I expected… verdant and parsleyish, I saw on their website that they also carry alfajore, and some day when I need some sugar, I will most certainly order it! The sandwich was $ 7.00 plus tax, and large enough to eat half for lunch today and save the rest for tomorrow, so I am pleased with that.

We hired Route 40 to cater our rehearsal dinner and they did not disappoint. From setting up our initial tasting to everything on site the day of the event, Cheryl and Felipe are really professional and treated us and our guests right. The food is delicious– flavorful, generous portions. We loved the sliders, brochettes and croquettes. All of our guests raved about the food. Even though their prices can be a bit higher than some of the other trucks, the quality of the food and experience is worth it. We also really appreciated their flexibility with us in discussing the menu and in dealing with inclement weather the night of the dinner. We would definitely recommend Route 40 to cater your next event!

Tried them a couple times last year. Favorite sandwich is the Argentinean cheesesteak. The combination of steak, pepper jack, and chimichurri was great. I like the baguettes they use. It’s obviously from a local baker and baked fresh daily. The first sandwich I had, the bread’s crust was too hard. It scraped the roof of my mouth. The inside was soft though. The second was much better. Still crisp on the outside but not hard enough to rip up my mouth. I guess that’s more of a review for the baker whoever they are. The guy that runs the truck is really nice.

I have been wanting to try them for a while and finally had my chance at the Farmer’s Market on South Pearl. The staff was super friendly and made some recommendations as I was a newbie. I got the steak sandwich and while flavorful it was a tad tough. The bun was delicious and the sauce had just the right amount of kick.

I get a lot of crap from my friends for this but I’ve had the croquettes a couple times since the first time and it’s just not tasting as good. I really feel though that they were prepared differently the first time around and they seemed more fresh. I did get to try out that cookie though(Alfajor). That was generally good but nothing great. Lots of what I think is caramel.

My goal is to try all the food trucks that participate in Civic Center Eats. Tried Route 40 Argentinean Grille for the first time the other day. I was extra close to Civic Center this week due to sitting on a jury. I decided on their steak sandwich with chimichurri and spicy salsa. The amount of steak you get for the price is impressive. The steak was tender, not sliced, which I would prefer but good nonetheless. The chimichurri was good but the salsa was spicy and super fresh and may favorite over the chimichurri. I really liked the guys working the truck and everything about the food. My friend had the sausage and that will definitely be my next choice because it was flavorful and juicy. Yumminess out of a truck is the best way to go in Denver. Take my word for it.

Argentinian food truck? Oh hell yes. When I saw Route 40 I nearly caused an accident swerving into a parking spot to take an impromptu late lunch break on the side of the road. If you’ve never had Argentinian food, I won’t spoil the surprise. But it’s good. Real good.

I was lucky enough to stumble upon the Route 40 food truck at Civic Center Park during a recent visit to Denver. The Empanada’s were awesome! I had Traditional Beef Empanadas with Potato Croquettes(kind of like hushpuppies with mashed potatoes in the middle). The Croquettes were tasty. They give you a side of chimichurri and it’s only $ 3! Did I mention the empanadas were only $ 3 a piece as well? That’s right… three whole dollars for either a traditional beef, chicken leek and mushroom or mozerella cheese, onion and tomato empenada. Quite a bargain, I’d say. Keep an eye out for the Route 40 food truck if you are in Denver. You’ll be glad you did.

I happened upon this food truck at Civic Center Park during the final leg of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge. This truck was definitely welcomed! Something relatively new and exciting for me, especially with all of the other offerings nearby. Now, don’t get me wrong: I could go for a wood-fired pizza or bbq sandwich any day. But it’s not every day I get to have Argentinian food. I sampled the El Gaucho sandwich: a steak sandwich on a wonderfully soft, yet crispy baguette. I added some of the salsa and the chimichurri to spice things up. Whatever that chimichurri is, I’m in love! Great stuff! Overall the sandwich was really tasty. I’d highly recommend it! Route 40 had quite the line, so things were moving relatively slowly. But I’m beginning to realize that most food trucks are a bit slow in general, so I won’t hold that against these guys. If you find the Route 40 food truck parked nearby, definitely stop by for a bite! Wonderful and tasty offerings to be had!

I really think that denver is doing super well in the food truck scene. I happened to stop by the Cherry Creek Farmer’s Market while promoting Move2Denver and 3 of denver’s famous food trucks were there: the biscuit bus, chef driven and rt.40 argentinian grill. As the good brazilian I am, I stopped by Route 40 and order a parrillada sandwich + a fresh alfajor made by a argentino calliente! It was wonderful to taste meat that actually tastes familar and to eat what was one of the best alfajors I may have ever had was really a treat!

As I sunk my teeth into my first beef empanada in a month, I closed my eyes and for a second I forgot which hemisphere I was in. My mom had planted the seed in my brain at the possibility of finding Argentine food at our regular farmer’s market. As we pulled in and I saw the bright blue truck with the words«Route 40» written on the side, I squealed in excitement. This was the moment when my brother regretted his decision to accompany me. I ordered three empanadas(one of each kind) and an alfajor(Argentine cookie filled with dulce de leche). Waiting to eat these until lunch was anything but easy. But the wait paid off. I was a little skeptical about the chicken and leek flavor, but it was just as delicious as the others. And the alfajor was just like I remember it; sweetest thing on earth. But we all no a great food experience isn’t just about the food. The cook, Filipe was incredibly nice and cheerful. He even listen to me spill my love for his home land and we reminisced about all things Argentina. If you have a hankering for Argentine food, or have never tried it, follow the big blue truck. You will not regret it.

Route 40 Argentinean Grille is bringing the best of Argentinean eats to Denver. Master of the famous Argentinean asado, Felipe Cufre is grilling up the delicious steaks, ribs, and pork of his native country. Don’t forget the empanadas and the unforgettable alfajores… delicious little sandwich cookies you can never have enough of. You are sure to come back for more of these mouth-watering dishes!
