I have been in here 5 times now and they have yet to have what I need in stock. Most recently, I went in there for some soft close hinges for new cabinets we were installing. I spoke to a person leaning on the cash out station for some help finding ones that would work for me. I am not the most knowledgeable person on hinges so I knew I would need some help. The gentleman who«helped» me was rude and condescending. It is not as though I was pretending to know more than I do, I was clear from the get go that I needed some help isolating exactly what I would need. That said, I am not an idiot either. The man offered the«snap close» version of the hinge that I needed and I asked if they have them in «soft close». He said they carry them but they are out right now and these would work almost the same. True, except that they wouldn’t perform the main function I was asking about. I would be replacing the ones I have with a new version of the ones I have! No thanks! He offered to order them for me and it would take 2 weeks with the holiday. I told him that I really wanted to get it done sooner than that so I would have to look around elsewhere and see if I could find them. He laughed and said that I wouldn’t find them anywhere and to let him know when I was done with that and he would order them. How arrogant, right? FYI, the local big box hardware store with the orange sign carries everything I needed. After getting scoffed at by the arrogant old man, I went there and bought everything I needed, with no help from anyone.

I’m a novice in terms of woodworking, but had done my research because I’ve found that people at other stores are not helpful or don’t even offer assistance. I went in on a busy Saturday and received a ton of help from the staff there. Everyone was very friendly and it took less than 2 minutes for someone to offer assistance. Plus, they are one of the only places in the area that carries General Finishes, which has turned an ugly/cheap potting bench into something much more upscale looking!

Staff here are social idiots. I stopped to pick up a router bit. While looking through the case an employee came over and leaned all over me to pick out a bit for a customer. I commented that he seemed in a hurry and he acted like I was in his way. I put down the bit I was holding as I was blocked from putting it back into its place, and then I walked out. Never more.

The store is amazing. I’m an apprentice finish carpenter in a family owned business, and I’ve been wanting to visit again, after the last time I visited being only about 16. My father and I went in, and we proceeded to go over every ounce of the store with a fine tooth comb, while my dad explained to me various things that I wasn’t acquainted with yet. There was a female employee there that seemed helpful, but a little confused by our presence, and kept asking if we needed anything. The selection was fabulous, from pen making materials to colored wood laminates for small projects like jewelery boxes, to their industrial sized wood working machines(lathes, router tables, drill punches, etc). My dad even found these amazing finish pry bars he’d bought at a Rockler in Seattle, WA about 7 years ago, that he wasn’t sure he’d ever find again, for only $ 15. After perusing the store, we finally went to the check out counter, and there was an older gentleman manning the register. He discussed the pry bars with my dad, and when I said that they were especially good for cabinet installs because they didn’t ding the wood, the man eyed me very suspiciously, as if being female I wasn’t allowed commentary. When my dad handed me the pry bars so that he could put his wallet away, the old man then snidely remarked; «You get to be the holder!» And I asked what he meant, and he said«You get to hold the stuff.» To which I remarked; «Uh, yeah, sure.» So other than the very sexist and old school male cashier, it was a great experience and I’ll definitely be back for many projects and specialty items and tools that I can’t get at Ace or Home Depot.

I’m refinishing a chair and needed some supplies(not to mention advice). I found both – the guy I spoke with was incredibly knowledgeable and eager to help. I’d definitely go back.

If you are into woodworking, this is the place for you. They’ve got so many accessories, options, tools, finishes, hardware, types of wood, etc. I went in asking for some literature on clocks, and although they didn’t have it in the store, the guy who helped me said he knew of a book. He did a quick search on the computer and said he could order me in a book if I was interested. I told him I was and he got it placed. The two times I’ve gone in, all I’ve gotten was great service and as much help as I needed. They didn’t assume I knew it all, but instead asked me about how much experience I had. I definitely recommend this place!

I came in to get a plank of koa for a coat rack(koat rack?). I was a complete dumbass and came in 5 minutes before closing and started asking about a fairly difficult-to-fine wood. After giving me some resources to find the koa they did not have, they asked about my project. They were incredibly patient with me and answered my questions and even helped me find a suitable replacement, after asking me several questions about my desired wood qualities. It wasn’t until I realized they were trying to lock up that I realized I was keeping them past closing. I offered to come back the next day, but the gentlemen refused to do anything other than help me. About twenty(YES, 20!) minutes after closing, they checked me out, admired the project, and ensured I knew exactly what to do with the wood to finish out the project as intended. They knew I worked with wood in the past, but they made damn sure I would not make a mistake with the wood. I can see how the previous reviewer could get frustrated with that, but I saw it as the Rockler people wanting to make sure customers and their projects were cared for as best they could. I had truly excellent customer service tonight.

I’ve been in here multiple times hoping to find wood products I need and advice for some challenging refinishing/woodworking problems and I’ve left irritated and unsatisfied every time. First of all, let me say, this is not my first rodeo – I’ve been remodeling houses, refinishing furniture and even building some of my own for the last 30 years and each time I take my well-groomed, petite, feminine self in there the old white guys(OWGs) treat me like I’ve never picked up a piece of sandpaper before. Even after I explain that I’m more than pretty handy, they talk at me(yes, I meant to say«at») as if I’m deaf, dumb and a total twinkie. And, I’m never impressed with the advice I get from them or the product recommendations – I get better info by parsing through the results provided by Google and I don’t have to deal with slow-moving chauvs who never seem to have the product that I want. There are better places in this town to get advice on wood and wood-related products where a smart and crafty girl with a set of power tools and a desire to build something is more than welcome and not talked down to.

I had to replace the hardware for some kitchen drawers(the slider-thingy’s) and the great folks over at True Value on Colfax & Monaco sent me over here. This was a real learning process for me as I’ve never done this sort of home repair before but the guys at Rockler were great. They have a wide selection of the types of parts that I was searching for and I don’t know where else in Denver I could have gone for this sort of thing. Staff was very knowledgeable but as this was a learning experience for me, I ended up having to try and fail and return parts 2 or 3 times. Still, they never gave me a hard time about excessive parts returns, even though they were opened packages. It’s just a cool store to explore and I’m sure that woodworkers would find a lot to enjoy here.
