This is the worst company when it comes to maintaining their own ice machines. The technicians are not properly trained or educated on the chemicals they use to clean the machines. The technicians are very short when the customer asks questions about the machine; just plain rude and unprofessional. Twice the technicians have chemically burned our counter tops. Polar hired a company to resurface our counter tops however just recently we received a letter stating that they were cancelling our maintenance agreement with them. When I called to inquire why, they said that the owner was losing money by coming out here and implied that we were lying about their technicians burning our counter tops! I would strongly suggest not buying or dealing with this company! How this company can be part of the BBB is beyond me.

I’m a local business owner in Wheat Ridge, CO who called out Polar Refrigeration to diagnose and fix my Hoshizaki ice machine. The technician came out and his professional opinion cost me $ 170.00 and he replaced my gear motor fuse with a 3A that I’d already purchased. He wrote up a synopsis that explained how water was dripping down into the gear motor and was displacing the oil out of the sides onto the bottom of our machine. A couple days later, the fuse blew and I called back out Polar Refrigeration to diagnose and fix the issue(again). I was charged $ 90.00 for the technician to sit at the ice machine for an hour and«monitor» the current going to the gear motor… no spikes or anything changed while they charged me. I know it was a service call, but I would have expected them to include this second visit in the price of the first($ 170). At this point, we asked Polar Refrigeration to give us a quote on what it would take to fix our 1000 gal ice machine, and we were told it would be over $ 3800… they wanted to just replace a bunch of parts. This is an easy way out and just an excuse for them to charge you lots of $$ for them to come waste your time. So a couple weeks pass and we are forced to make a decision if we are going to have to trade in or sell our faulty ice machine. We run into a fella(who doesn’t work for any refrigeration company) who comes in, takes the whole ice machine apart, finds the issues(disentigrating gaskets and bad seals, total cost of $ 130 in parts), and fixes the machine without any issues for $ 500 labor! So for $ 630, I got completed what Polar Refrigeration wanted $ 3800! This is uncalled for and I believe this is a company trying to take advantage of a starting new company who is ignorant in the ways of the ice machine and compressor world. Don’t go with this company. They will come out, most likely not fix the issue, and charge you lots of $$$ on top. Be warned!
