We used Phoenician Kabob for catering a 60th birthday party and Brahim and Victoria were great! They were flexible, relaxed(when I wasn’t), delivered and set up on time, and recommended the right amount of food. We ordered main course dinner foods like chicken kabob, veggie kabobs, moussaka, and greek salad as well as musakhan, grape leaves, hummus and baba ganoush. And of course the garlic condiment… amazing! It was all delicious and the guests LOVED the food. It was different, flavorful and the hit of the party. 2 weeks later, friends still mention the great food. They took care of everything and even recommended a wonderful belly dancer. Thanks to Brahim and Victoria for the delicious food and great experience.

Ate here for lunch, and then for dinner. The food is top notch and delicious. For lunch try the fatayer and the chicken kabobs, although both portions are piteously tiny. I ate both and was still hungry(but I am a hungry guy). For dinner we got some okra special and some lamb special and they were *phenomenal*, and huge. We also got the sampler platter, and every last thing on there was excellent. The garlic sauce is awesome too. Basically aioli. The atmosphere is cozy without being stifling. I can’t give 5 stars because the lunch was small and the service at dinner was not great, but the food is worth it regardless. Perhaps future visits will smooth this out.

As you can see from the plethora of reviews currently posted to the listing, Phoenician Kabob has already garnered a great deal of praise on this site. And today, I want to contribute my own two cents to the discussion. So you’re gonna listen, and you’re gonna like it. One thing I’ve always appreciated about PK(as I will be henceforth be calling the restaurant in this review) is their selection of their fresh-baked savory pies and pastries, collectively known as Fatayer. Not too long ago, I was able to sample the spinach/pine-nut pockets called Sabanekh, and was wowed by interplay of flavors and textures within. Another one that comes to mind in this regard is the Palestinian specialty Musakhan(no, it’s not related to Moussaka…) which melds moist chicken, soft onions, and tangy sumac into a scintillating symphony of sorts. But if you prefer, say, a heaping helping of grilled mushrooms, or the creamy semisoft cheese called Jibneh, or indeed the classic thyme/sesame sprinkling known as Za’atar, these are possible options for you too so don’t despair. I guess what I’m trying to say is that they didn’t install that oven just for fun, so why not help them out? Hmm, what else can I tell you about that’s a little out of the ordinary? Oh, I know! Sometimes PK features a red lentil and jalapeño soup which is simply outasight. It’s spicy, filling, warming, and undeniably unctuous — and in this case, that’s not a bad thing to be by any means. I also should point out that their Vegetarian Combo is absolutely enormous(consisting of falafel, hummus, baba ghanouj, stuffed grape leaves, *and* tabbouleh) — if you order it, you might not want to start with a separate appetizer too, or you may not be leaving your bed for quite a while once you get home(as I discovered on a past excursion)! But it’ll hurt so good, I promise. And believe me, you’ll definitely want to save some room for dessert, especially if they’ve got Sha’abiyat [Syrian custard pie] available on your visit. I know I deal in superlatives a lot, but that’s honestly one of my favorite sweet dishes in town, so try it out!

Very delicious food l, reasonably priced with friendly service as well. They serve kibbi, very similar to how my grandmother made it. This place is now one of my favorites!

Ordered take out. Would love to come back to dine in. My neighbors love Thai spot and suggested it to me. Great food, but pricey! $ 30 for one. However they do have generous portions and flavors were great. Some suggest to come for lunch specials for a better deal. Enjoyed be falafel and gyros entrée. I’ll be back wth friends! Great date night spot too!

Phew, major heartburn and tummy trouble after eating here. I enjoy mediterranean food however, I was throughly not impressed with the Phoenician. The atmosphere was nice for date night or for a group of friends. Location, being located on Colfax street parking is sketchy. Okay back to the food, heavy on the seasoning so extra salt is a no GO. I ordered the lamb kabob and the meat was cooked medium well. The garlic was a bit heavy which may of lead to the heartburn. The salad was good and oh! For desert, I ordered the the baklava with walnuts which was delicious. No complaints there. The customer service was awesome and wine divine. I would recommend just make sure you chase your food with cheese or a milk based product to coat your stomach to take the garlic and spices.

Absolutely DELICIOUS food. Best hummus in town, hands down. Be sure to get the cauliflower, too. Great spot for lunch as well.

Good olé Phoenician Kabob… I’ve been eating here and getting take out for ages. I love this place for a few reasons, which I’ll enumerate here: 1 — SPEED. They are soo quick. For both the dine in and take out service. Food is ready likkity-split and that’s a huge win for parents(like Ladyhawk and I). Dinner at a restaurant is kind of a countdown to some implosion with kids and this place handles it wonderfully :) 2 — TASTE. I love Gyros. They do it well. That is all. 3 — SERVICE. Not to be confused with speed, this is all about the kindness of the people there and they are all rad. Everyone I’ve ever interacted with in person and over the phone is totally awesome. And that’s a wrap.

Couldn’t figure out where to eat for lunch and decided to try Phoenician. It was a good pick too because there was a cool antique store across the street! There wasn’t anyone else inside when we arrived, but the waitress was very nice and let us sit wherever we wanted. I decided to get a chicken shawarma and a side of eggplant, and my parents got kebab plates. The eggplant came out super fast and it was awesome! They grill it and then top it with a vinegar sauce that tastes great, so we polished that plate off really quickly. The shawarma was huge, I was super full after eating it. The chicken was pretty good and there were a good amount of veggies inside, but the tzatziki sauce was kind of mild. They usually serve it with the garlic sauce, but my dad got that one and it was really strong and the consistency was thick, not really what I think sauce looks like. My dad was sad that the kebab plate only had one skewer, but this was probably because it was the lunch special?

What a great surprise! I am rarely in Park Hill but it seemed like a reasonable place to have lunch en route to the airport. First, the restaurant was very clean and had nice natural light. The waitress was nice, quick, and charming. Our food was great. Lamb and kefta kebob were both perfectly grilled. The rice was authentic basmati and cooked just right. The grilled veggies were a nice addition. Also the pita za’atar feta app was great and authentic according to my Syrian friend. Finally, the baklava was great. Crunchy, not chewy! We left very happy and content — thank you.

Definitely a great place for Mediterranean/Lebanese food. Don’t let the location scare you; it’s a gem snuggled between a tattoo parlor and psychic. If anything, it gives the entertainment of people watching if you get a table by the window. You walk inside and you’re transported to a world of fresh pitas, garlic, lamb and belly dancers. The grape leaves, garlic sauce, hummus, lamb and grilled eggplant were served hot with fantastic flavors. The garlic sauce is… well,. extremely garlic-y, which I love! So good. I highly recommend it: it’s a huge amount so share and save some for your meal for a kick. The entrée are hefty portions with hummus and rice, so you’re getting a good deal if you’re hungry. My mom had the lentil soup and she said it was perfect; the cup is big enough for a meal on its own. Early in the evening, a beautiful and talented belly dancer from Cairo came out showcasing her expertise with a massive sword and symbols; she was so fun and vibrant. Our group was definitely into it though(I’m assuming because it was so early, 6p) the rest of the place was boring and unenthusiastic. Only down side to our experience was the service was really slow, the timing of our food was off and we had to ask for the pita that were included in our entrees. They had the bartender second as a waiter which I think was the problem because we felt forgotten about at times. Overall, excellent fresh food and fun experience. Recommended to anyone in the area or visiting Denver and wants something different.

This place has great food! We came for an early lunch so it was not too busy and the service was great. The waiter was new to the state like we were so he chatted to us for a bit about living in Denver. The food came out pretty quickly and although our appetizer came out before our entrée even though we asked for our appetizer to come out with our main course, it was still hot when our food came out. We started with the falafels as an appetizer and they were great! They were gone so fast I wish there was more in the order. My boyfriend had a gyro and he really liked it and I had the chicken shwarma. The shwarma is really good and flavorful and comes with plenty of rice. Don’t be discouraged about the location, the food is totally worth it!

A group of 6 of us went to Phoenician Kabob last week and it was wonderful. It was Thursday night and relatively empty at the time we got in, so we sat at a table near the window. I live pretty close and really enjoy the various cultural food spots you can go to on East Colfax, so I had to try this spot. We started with a bottle of Lebanese red wine(not sure of the name) and it was tasty. I have never had Lebanese wine before. We ordered dolmas, hummus, pitas, and the cauliflower to start. The cauliflower tasted wonderful– it was cooked in tahini, garlic, and lemon juice, which resulted in a unique flavor I have never experienced with cauliflower before. The pitas were to die for… Super delicate, yet fluffy in a sense. The hummus was also good. The only thing I did not really enjoy appetizer-wise were the dolmas. They were somewhat overcooked and burnt. We also received little cucumber, tomato, and onion salads in small bowls. I just put the salad in the pitas with hummus, as well as my entrée, so I can’t review the«salad» on its own, even though it wasn’t quite salad-like and seemed more like a garnish to me. For my entrée, I went with one of the specials, the Maqlooba. It’s an upside-down dish featuring lamb and rice, along with cauliflower, almonds???, sweet potatoes, chickpeas, and some other vegetables, all tossed together with many spices. There were hints of delicious sweetness in the dish and the lamb was cooked to perfection. Yogurt came on the side. I loved the deep and complex flavors within the dish, while I personally would have enjoyed more lamb and less rice(isn’t that everyone’s dream??). As I am not too familiar with Lebanese and Middle Eastern cuisine, I’m not sure if yogurt is always served on the side of this dish? But if it isn’t 100% traditional, I would have liked a more flavorful yogurt-based sauce(more like a cucumber yogurt versus plain). All in all, it was a great night at Phoenician Kabob with just a few things within the cuisine that I would have changed! I would like to go back and try the gyros.

I am so fortunate to live off of Colfax Avenue, a very eclectic and historic road that is surrounded by cool neighborhoods with diverse architecture, parks and most loved, our restaurants. Phoenician Kabob is so that place. Nestled on the north side of Colfax by Ivy Street… is this cozy — yet vibrant Mediterranean restaurant servicing authentic Middle Eastern cuisine. My neighbor and I stopped in on Friday night and was happily greeted by the owner, Ibrahim and his wife, Victoria. I just love when the owners know your name and welcome you as if you are family! Barbara and I ordered a bottle of wine via Ibrahim’s recommendation… and it was delightful. Can remember the name but it was only $ 31.00. We split one of the specials that night, Molokhia(chicken dish) — which was so delicious. A green leafy vegetable used in Middle Eastern, East and North Africa and South Asian cuisine — very nutritious — was cooked with chicken, chicken broth, onions, fresh lemon juice, garlic and house spices. Check out the photo. We also split a fresh Fatayer from their oven… with grilled mushrooms, spinach, roasted pine nuts and cheese — like a pizza but so fresh and light. The belly dancer came out for a few songs as we sipped on our wine. A really wonderful experience at the Phoenician Kabob… I highly recommend you go and take your family and friends!

The Lamb Chef’s Plate is worth the visit alone… SO good as it could easily serve 2 people… and the pita bread and garlic dip are pretty great, while the hummus is FANTASTIC(paired with the tabbouleh and rice). PK also has a large bar area that appears to be fully-stocked, which is a nice option if that’s your thing. I’m not sure how to pair alcohol with Lebanese food, but I’m willing to learn… …this place is much nicer than the surrounding neighborhood, so give it a shot. I’m looking forward to visiting again.
