Love Petes! Within walking distance of my place and a great spot for a really affordable meal. The steak sandwich with side of Au Jus sauce was my go too. The big ass beers aren’t bad either.

We went there last night for trivia. Trivia itself was ok, but the food was not good. Easily the worst bar food I’ve had in years. My boyfriend ordered the chicken strips basket. They were flattened chicken, more like chicken schnitzel and both the fries and chicken were burnt. I had the burger and some onion rings. Onion rings were a soggy mess– I had two and couldn’t eat anymore. Burger was ok– it was actually cooked the medium I asked for. As for service, meh. It wasn’t amazing but it wasn’t terrible either. She came around every 20 minutes or so and asked if we needed anything. Overall, we won’t be coming back unless its for trivia. And if we do come back, we’ll eat before we go in.

So around spring time the ownership changed along with the name(now Pete’s Patio Bar). I wasn’t too worried about it until I realized they no longer took my Yard card — it was a reward system that you buy($ 20 upfront and you get coupons, etc, and it’s good for a year). Plus every $ 100 you spent, you got $ 10 back and trust me I went there enough with friends to make it worth it. I was NOT happy when the new management said«sorry you’ve only had your card for 6 months but we can’t take it.» You’d think they would find a way to «fix» it to keep old customers coming back. With that being said, I never saw half of the people in there that I use to. As a previous Unilocaler posted, there was always a group of older men who sat at the bar who know longer are patrons. The new owner would go table to table asking how our service was and one day we asked him about the drinks and he said«the prices won’t change.» The next week the margs went up $ 1(along with all of the other drinks/food going up in price)! I know it doesn’t seem like much but I still felt like I was lied to… once again not the best way to keep returning customers. Some positive new things: there is now happy hour food. The wings are 60 cent each but there are other cheap options where as before there wasn’t. Also, I will say the new owner has spruced up the patio and seems to do a lot of fundraising events which pleases me. I moved out of state at the beginning of September and will say… I miss those margaritas!

I’m not one to post only one or two stars about places but I have to make an exception for Pete’s Patio Bar(formerly Prickly Pete’s). Note: We’ve lived in the area for quite awhile but have never worked here or socialized with any staff outside of the bar. When Pete and Suzanne owned Prickly Pete’s, there was always this light happy feel to the place. Great staff, good bargains, food specials and this batch of retired ol’ guys yucking it up at the bar in the afternoon. These guys would always drink top shelf stuff, stay for hours and always grotesquely overtip. Plus, they were admittedly there every day. This is just an observation although I did chat up a couple of them on occasion. Enter new owner and that light feel and those ol’ guys are gone… and after my visit just last night, I’m beginning to understand why. There has been a real inconsistency in pricing. Nothing is posted anywhere. A pitcher of Bud, for instance is 6.50+tx(7.05) sometimes and it’s 7.00+tx(7.60) at other times and, as I learned last night, 8.50+tx(9.15) apparently after 10pm. $ 3(3.25) margarita jumps up a buck and more. Still somewhat a bargain but the ambiguity of the pricing still bugs me. Plus I find it hard to believe Gloria C’s review stating they were comp’d a free pitcher. On the plus side, yes the wings are good, they smoke their own beef and pork and the staff is pretty and usually attentive. They still do karaōke and poker nights. Sometimes a duo or trio will play a few tunes. There is no longer a pool table but the patio has some options. This reviewer feels that new ownership no longer wants the tag of «neighborhood bar» associated with the establishment. Wanting more of an upscale, cosmopolitan destination type sports/entertainment mecca thing and raising questions about pricing might be the best way to achieve that. Just remember, you can always put lipstick on a pig but in the end… If you do decide to venture in, might want to ask about the prices upfront and avoid the sticker shock. I, on the other hand am going to find the ol’ guys. I’m sure they’re somewhere close and most of their stories are a hoot.

Name might have changed but the bar hasn’t significantly. Still a a cheap sports bar with barely a change in décor or menu. I’d say the food has changed for the better just a smidge. I actually liked the buffalo wings this time and the goat cheese curds with a raspberry chili sauce were a pleasant surprise. They have the worst nachos I’ve even encounter though. Limp, greasy chips covered in sludgy cheese and guacamole so cold it has pieces of ice in it. The expanded patio is actually pretty nice though. I can pretty much see myself coming here only for an occasional pub quiz or beers on the patio. Those beers by the way are pretty dang cheap, so one thing going for it anyway.

In search of a trivia night, three of us headed over to Pete’s around 8 on a Saturday night. A live band was just wrapping up outside on the patio, but we were told that Trivia would be inside so we sat in there. In the mood for a frozen drink, I ordered a Margarita. The waitress informed me that they do not have a blender, so it would have to be on the rocks– which was fine. My sister and her bf ordered beers. We ordered a bunch of apps to split– the Goat Cheese Curds, the Pigs in Pretzels with Beer Cheese Dip as well as an order of hot wings. The Goat Cheese Curds were pretty tasty and the raspberry sauce had a nice kick to it. The pretzel dogs were okay and the dip was blah. The wings were the right amount of heat but not the best. The best part was the trivia– the host was funny and with several rounds, it lasted 2 hours. This was my first time going to a trivia night and I really enjoyed myself and plan on scoping out others in the future(but probably not here). So, why only 3 stars? Well, the waitress just wasn’t with it. She came to ask if we wanted a second round– I said no and got a second one anyway. She made an off comment to my sister about the amount of food she ate, which she did not take lightly. It also took me 30 minutes to get a glass of water. When I had to remind our waitress, she told us she already checked in for the night and gave some lame excuse for forgetting. How is this acceptable service? If you forget something, apologize and get the customer what they asked for. We don’t want to know that you were outside with the other staff and forgot you were working. Overall, so-so food and crappy service.

Wings wings wings!!! They are amazing! Plus this place has a huge selection of shrimp dishes! The only thing I hate about it is al the TVS… I despise tv and sports bars… But they have great live music and karaōke… good menu and good drink specials. Um, did I mention funnel cake FRIES!!!

Pete’s is a great bar. They specialize in barbecue and wings. They serve cheap beer and also have some good beers on draught. It has the dive bar/local bar feel and has a big outdoor patio. This place is under new ownership! The food is getting better and better(I’m there every week). The new menu is coming out soon and you won’t be disappointed. Sliders are coming to the menu! The waitstaff is friendly, down to earth, and attentive. The new owner is always chatting with customers. There are lots of different things going on at this place so check the website for the evening festivities. I can’t wait for summer to enjoy the patio!

By far one of my favorite bars in Denver. The wings are OUTSTANDING! We don’t live in the area, but have been known to drive a half and hour just to come to PP’s and have some GREAT wings and some good adult beverages. This place is like Cheers, the bartenders call people by their names when they walk in, they are extremely friendly and even offered an «off the menu» sauce for the hot wings that is THEBOMB!!! If you haven’t been here before, please do, it will be a blessing in disguise! You level of «wing happiness» will be at an all time high. Do every wing loving American a favor and enjoy the bliss that these wings give you! Side note… get the wings well done. It makes them even better!

Prickly Pete’s has been on my radar for ages, especially since I’ve lived in the neighborhood for over three years now. I finally got my happy arse over there for some football this past weekend. I imagine this place is hopping during a Broncos game; Steve A and I poked our heads in during their bye-week, so it was definitely quieter than usual. We grabbed some seats in the middle of the small dining room area, which is surrounded by booths. Because there are so many tvs and all are labeled for which games will be playing, I can’t imagine there’s a bad seat in the place. But it’s definitely cozy, so be prepared! Our server was quick and efficient with our drinks, which was great because hey, football and beer are practically synonyms! We only ordered two apps, no «real» food. The jalapeño poppers were awesome, especially with the raspberry sauce(what? huh? don’t ask me!), but the chips and salsa were pretty awful. I’ve tasted more flavor from stale Doritos, srsly. And the salsa was sub par as well. Hopefully some of the other food options are better! In any case, Prickly Pete’s has finally been crossed off of my bookmarks list! I’ll probably return at some point, but it’s not at the top of my list. Perfectly A-OK!

…I’m pretty convinced there aren’t a lot of places in Denver that are great places to finish off a night of bar-hopping; especially one where you’re feeling the need for nighttime noshing, than Prickly Pete’s. Been here a handful of times in the last 3 months post-Lodo-time to have a final pitcher and, without fail, one of their«fajita burritos» — a very sizable burrito loaded with steak(one can choose other meats), peppers, black beans, onions, mushrooms, smothered in green chile sauce and cheese. It’s an Artery Clogger, it’s a Dietitian’s Nightmare, it’s…utterly delicious. SO. GOOD. Especially, like I said, post-drinking-wise. Stephanie is combination bartender/waitress we always see here and she is always super friendly and engaging, enjoying conversing with us for a few minutes per fly-by…in addition to all that, she hustles the food and beer like a pro. She’s a wonderful server and I love her to pieces. It’s close by(for me). It’s open late(for a Sunday night). It’s tasty food — well, the burrito is, anyways. I can’t speak for the wings or anything else. I honestly don’t *want* to change course off anything else, but I may at some point just to broaden my experience. Multiple TVs over a few walls make sure you have ample viewing space of sports events and/or quirky late-night sports shows. They have Shocktop here? Another reason to like. It may not be mega fancy, but thinking about it, as a sports bar goes in Denver? I have to say this place is higher than the average, quite a bit — and if you’re not here for sports, the burrito or service is worth the 4 stars I’m giving.

We have driven by, and driven by this restaurant/bar so many times, each time remarking, «We need to try that place.» The big sign there says, «Largest Patio!» Well, we just tried them out, and YES! They are good, and yes, the patio is large. We did sit outside on the patio. I counted approximately 12 or so tables, with plenty of room between tables too! All but 1 or 2 tables had an umbrella. The chairs were the wrought iron rocking type: very, very comfortable! I looked around, and saw people rocking away. It is a very pleasant patio. Interior — a bit dark, but that’s like most restaurant/bars. There is a larger size bar in the restaurant, with plenty of seating too. Menu /price — hamburgers, salads, appetizers, etc. We split the Garlic Burger, with mushrooms and bacon added. The Garlic Burger, definitely has garlic in it, you can taste it with the first bite. Boy, it’s good! Not too much garlic either, just the right amount. We also had an ice tea, a small salad, fries, and two beers. Our total was only $ 22. That is pretty good! Service — good, not slow, not super fast, or in your face either. Will we go back — yes! Next time, we’ll bring some friends too! Thanks Prickly Pete’s — you are not prickly at all!

Good for beer, wings and standard bar food. Tardy review of Super Bowl Sunday 2012. Full house, but still was able to get a booth. The good news is this place is chock full of televisions so there is always one in your field of vision. Nothing spectacular, and nothing horrible. A-OK sums it up.

Prickly Pete’s gets an upgraded rating because of some great friendly service last night. I stopped by with Unilocaling sensation Stephen K. for a burrito. Pretty tasty– nothing special but much better food and service than my last Prickly encounter last year. Maybe I won’t be so jaded about this place in the future.

I tell you I really liked this place and will probably be back and that is saying A LOT since we had some of the worst service ever. OK, maybe I should qualify that — some of the slowest service ever. We stopped in here around 1ish on a Saturday and they clearly did not have enough staff. It was busy, but not packed and there seemed to be ONE waitress who was bartending too. Translation: 10 minutes to put in a drink order, 25 Minutes AFTER that to put in our food order and then things were little better — still slow, but better(I think they called in help). Now the service aside I really loved the low key vibe with the TVs everywhere, booths, big bar, etc… The wings were fat, crisp and perfectly tossed in sauce(not dripping, not wanting). The green chile fries were well coated without making them too soggy. And the beer was well beer — good selection. All in all I loved it — except for the service, but I am guessing it was a fluke. The waitress was showing hustle, she wasn’t slacking she was just overwhelmed. Oh and they have great happy hour specials, although if you go on a Saturday afternoon(like us) you are gonna get full price on everything. No biggie, wasn’t looking for a deal on Sat afternoon, but nice to know they have them if we are in the area during the week. I can see going back for a game and some beer and wings. Yum!

Came in on a Saturday afternoon and the waitress came over fairly quickly to take our drink order and hand us some menu’s. The place wasn’t that busy(maybe 1⁄3rd full) and it looked like the waitress was also doubling as the bartender. She came back a little bit later and did a drive-by to give us our drinks, not stopping to ask if we wanted food. There was a table up near the front that seemed to consume all of her time. The group got there after we did and got their FOOD before we even ordered. After being in the bar for 30 minutes she finally came by and took our order(wings and fries) and it didn’t seem like we waited terribly long for the order to come out. We took the opportunity to order our 2nd round and that was pretty much the last we saw of her. I’d like to note that we ordered 2 rounds of beers(so 4 total) and at the end we noticed that there was a special for a $ 9 pitcher of what we ordered that the waitress didn’t tell us about. So we ended up spending $ 25 on 4 beers that we could have gotten for $ 9. the wings and the fries were awesome. Cooked just to perfection and the wings were crispy and slathered with just the right amount of sauce. It also seemed that in the last 30 minutes or so of the about 90 minutes we were there that 2 more waitresses came in and started serving tables. Just in time for us to leave! The bar was cute with a good atmosphere and the food was good enough that we certainly plan on coming back and giving it another try. But if the service is the same that will probably be about it.

Here’s the deal, I’m going to start with 3 stars, but I think with multiple visits, it’s gonna secure itself 4 stars. Service, prices, and atmosphere undoubtedly warrant a hire rating, however, the experience didn’t measure up. I ended up here on a Saturday night during a playoff football game. The crowd was a bit bleak and a little unenthusiastic for playoff football, however, my enthusiasm ran high when I learned of the football drink specials. Say no more than $ 5 pitchers. Yes, Jeff R., Coors Light does tastes like bananas, but it’s $ 5 dollars, so quit your bitchen. Flat screens all around made it prime for watching sports, or Dateline NBC, which was the case proceeding the game. Sad to say, Dateline with closed captioning was more entertaining than the Trivia MC who’s demeanor greatly reflected Matt Lauer’s. Oh how much I wished that the patio was open to escape Scott Baio trivia and the MC. As a result, we ended up leaving for good, ensuring ourselves that we would be back in the spring/summer to utilize the patio.

Can’t believe I haven’t written a review yet for Prickly Pete’s. A few weeks ago I was looking for a new bar to try out with my cousin, and most specifically a bar at which we could watch hockey. We’re bot big hockey fans, and like to go out every time Boston & Montréal play each other as they’re our favorite teams, so on the latest such occasion we decided to try Prickly Pete’s. I emailed the bar in advance to check on the presence of the NHL Center Ice pkg. The woman who responded wasn’t sure if they had it, but said she’d check and get back with me. A few hours later(prompt response!) she said they didn’t have it, but she went ahead and ordered it. ****Flashing Lights**** THISISNOWKINDOF A HOCKEYBAR ****Flashing Lights**** So that was a giant A+ to start the evening. They basically ordered the NHL Center Ice Pkg just for me, or at least made me feel like they did. And either way, that’s pretty awesome. Service was awesome. A: she was pretty cute, B: she’s not afraid to give shit to the customers. And honestly, that’s just cool at a bar. Yes I’m a customer and all, but you don’t need to treat me like I’m superior or deserving, just treat me like a friend and bullshit with me on occasion, and that’s what she did. Prices were good, decent sized happy hour list of beers and pitchers, and cheap wings(they run a pretty recurring special of über cheap wings for a long period of time on a regular basis.) The wings weren’t the greatest, but they had good meat and great spice. Kind of like my last girlfriend. Anyway, It’s definitely a good neighborhood joint with no pretension, a good crowd, a fun atmosphere, and 14,000 TVs. That number is approximate. We also stayed to participate in the Geeks Who Drink Trivia that they had on Wed nights(moved to Saturday’s.) And even though I absolutely hate GWD and their style of trivia, I had an enjoyable time.(Shhh, don’t tell anyone!) I’m excited to drop back into Prickly Pete’s very soon for another hockey game. Or just some wings. it’s a great place to drop by!

I am writing this review after just finishing another on Second Home, the pretentious status-flaunting yuppietown bar located in Cherry Creek which makes me want to shoot myself right in the mouth. What a breath of fresh air. Prickly Pete’s is the polar opposite of Second Home; it’s a neighborhood joint with good burgers and fries and a crew of regulars at the bar watching sports. The bartenders are able and friendly and generous on the pour. There’s outdoor space and lots of television sets. People are nice and real and not out to impress you. In fact all they’re out to do is eat and drink well for not too much money. I can dig it. Also, the fries are really freaking good. I’m not a big fry person but I tried my friend’s and wow, those fries were good. I then proceeded to eat all his fries unapologetically. Next time I went to Prickly Pete’s I ordered a whole lot of those buggers and ate them all again. I’m proud to be an American.

Huh. I can’t believe I have yet to review Prickly Pete’s. Here we go– Great spot for grabbing beers, cocktails, grub, etc. It’s a good little sports pub, though it’s not all about sports… Interestingly, there are no lights in the place. In fact, the whole place is basically lit with neon signs and flat screen TV’s. Still, it does not feel dark in any way. I have tried the food, and it is really pretty good. the portions are huge and the prices very reasonable. The wait staff is fantastic. Good patio area to quarantine the smokers.
