Walked in on a whim looking to browse the books and stayed for the pinball. I don’t know why more bookstores don’t have pinball because once I saw these two combined I thought it was brilliant. I did like the music selection process playing and the uniqueness of the shop. After playing a few games I did browse the books and found the selection to be a miss. I think they need to work on that. But there’s a scooter in the back? Cmon!

It’s a cool place to browse books and hang out but the coffee was awful and tasted burnt.

I want to say something bad about this place but all I’ve got is that I don’t live close enough.(Just kidding, I hate having something bad to say about a place). I love the Baker neighborhood and Broadway in general, and after spending so much of my time(for work) in the highlands, I gravitate to that area any day off, or free time I get. First off, most of this neighborhood is known these days as being«hipster»(whatever that even means anymore) but it hasn’t always been that way. I can remember a few years back, running around the streets, dodging homeless people and drunks who are sprawled out galore but Mutiny is a place that I have always known to take cover in when I want to get off the streets. It’s quiet more often than not, and their coffee menu isn’t overwhelming like most new coffee shops these days. It’s a great place to have a seat and read, write, or people watch just for the hell of it. The staff here is always welcome and warm but not fake by any means, which I find to be comforting and genuine. I spend a lot of time in most businesses on this strip, but Mutiny will always be an old favourite.

Pretty solid atmosphere if you’re a comic book or vinyl head or just enjoy some pretty good coffee. Said coffee is about the same price anywhere else and the iced caramel flavored drink that I grabbed was so-so… but hey, having a book store, vinyl store and coffee shop all in one is pretty epic, so they get a pass on that. I’m not much of a coffee aficionado anyway… I, like may other reviewers was instantly enamored with the atmosphere. It is soooo cool in this place and your eyes will dart out of your skull canvassing the inside. There’s just a whole bunch of cool stuff everywhere. I didn’t really browse the books much but they definitely have a nice variety. Whether they carry the hard-to-find and out of print stuff, or even brand new stuff, I cannot say. The same goes for their records, which I did sift through. Seemed like that day most of their stock was vintage rock, alternative, blues and punk records. There was a smattering of soul and pop stuff too though. they weren’t really organized if I remember correct so do prepare to dig through them all. I liked that there was a long table top that ran adjacent to the window facing out toward Broadway. If you wanted to just plop down and write or open up your laptop while the foot and car traffic outside buzzed by you could totally do that. Very interesting place, probably not for the ultra hardcore vinyl heads hunting records, but totally for the book reader’s and coffee house loungers! I also saw that Mutiny serves as a venue of sorts for live music and even like open mic type events. I’m sure that it serves as a very intimate setting for both. This place is easily the coolest coffee house on Broadway.

This place has a fun retro vibe to it! There aren’t too many places you can get this selection of books, vinyl records and the odd assortment of gems you can get there. Plus i appreciate the variety of events they have. They have music, comedy, movies, and talks on all kinds of subjects. It’s a cool kind of eclectic! The staff is always friendly. Oh and they may have the best chai tea in town! There’s lots to do and lots going on here. If you haven’t already, definitely check it out!

I went in for the books but enjoyed the coffee. Nice section of 8 rows of Sci Fi books plus various other books, posters and vinyl. Had a 32 ounce French press for $ 5 that was delicious. Daughter had really good café au lait and homemade pop tart. Definitely will return next time in town.

Fun place with great coffee and an ok tea selection(no roobios tea). Service was a little slow but they had a new staff member training I believe. Would return again to check out more books and records!

Coffee addicts unite. Mutiny served up the best iced soy latte I have had in Denver. Right down to the coffee ice cubes this was the absolute best. The barista was super friendly and you can browse the eclectic book selection while they whip it up for you. Bonus they are open till 3 on Saturday night! Super cool without holding their nose in the air knowing they are. I dig it!

The store is a neat random collection of books and records. However, my first experience here was bittersweet. When I tried to enter the establishment, the door was blocked by a mass of people. It was highly frustrating to spend 10 minutes to get into the door. Staff did nothing to help. I’m pretty sure that this isn’t the norm based on positive comments my friends have said about this place. Once inside, I enjoyed browsing through the assortment of books and records. I would try this store again when it’s not packed with musicians and their audience.

Cool spot with records, books, and coffee. Cool scene for cool Denver people. It’s like a small version of Amoeba before it got huge in Hollywood. My only gripe is the workers are less than friendly. Oh well they are cool I guess.

«Hipsters, flipsters, and ^^^ finger poppin’ daddies, knock me your lobes.» This hep cat den has the basics: coffee, tea, and books. Anyone new to the literary punk scene will be at home here. Coltrane over the speakers made the place calm. Come here to read and relax. Those with hyperosmia might want to go down the street to Bardo, or a flower shop, or Cate Blanchett’s armpits. #coffee # hipster #punk #hep_cat

Where All The Cool Kids Play Mutiny Information Café is one of the hippest, hottest joints in town. The shop offers reasonably priced used and new books, records and comics. But don’t forget about the coffee! Yes, there’s coffee, too! I really enjoy shopping at Mutiny Information Café. What’s more, I like hanging out at Mutiny. The ambiance is really conducive to relaxation. Have a seat, grab a drink from the coffee bar and read, study or converse with friends. It’s all good here. There’s even a small section in the back with two small tables and a couch. One of the tables has a chess board. Your move, chess aficionados! Make way for sweet, sweet Mutiny — It’s where all of the cool kids play.

I used to shop at this location in the mid 1990s when Ichabod’s Books & Mrs Crane’s was here. Mutiny is the same idea(books, records, espresso), only slightly smaller now that the rental space has been split up into a few units. I come here mostly for the used records, which take up about three double-sided bins plus some under stock. Many used stores that don’t specialize in records will price everything the same regardless of condition or desirability, which results in some items being under priced but most items being overpriced. Mutiny does not take that approach. Instead, Mutiny actually tries to price items appropriately, and takes condition, desirability and rarity into consideration. They might miss the mark sometimes, but usually the prices are still good. More importantly, Mutiny has two bargain bins, one with $ 1.00 records and another with Two-For-$ 5.00 records. These are typically your less-desirable titles, or records with condition issues. This is a great way to discover new music or purchase records that still sound good but that have tattered sleeves.

A really nice, store and coffee shop. They have everything for a geek. Collectable comic books, posters, weird records, music, live music events, cool books. This joint reeks coolness, did I mention they are open super late, and have free wifi. Do you really want anything else? Last lime I was in I spent an hour listening to strange records, get down. I was really impressed by their selection of country music records. I finally went in after seeing their ad, in drunkards magazine, and the Pub on Pearl.

They don’t carry decaf, but then again I’m a masochist who loves a place even more when they refuse to carry what I want. I’m even more smitten if they have an inch and a half of dust coating a biography of John Travolta in the corner. This awesome biz inspires me to go home and get a tattoo of an unsolved Rubik’s Cube while listening to Metal Church on vinyl. Go here now or you lose.

Called in today looking for an Elvis/gospels record. The guy didn’t offer to go look in the bin and implied that they had a lot of Elvis records and over 1000 records in the shop. When I got there and asked the guy if he worked there he said«no» sarcastically. They had one Elvis record. We had driven from 30 minutes away, looked for parking for 20 minutes for something that would’ve taken the guy one minute to check in the bin for us. Cool shop but poor customer service.

Found this place by accident while checking out Denver for practically my first time. I was pretty skeptical about Denver but after I walked in this place I knew I had found a spot I could truly cherish. I’ve never been into a cooler shop in my life before. They had really good reads in Fiction, Non-fiction, feminist studies, historical fiction… You name it, they probably had at least a small section. I was impressed that they had a poetry fixture which for me, is a tell all sign of whether the book shop is worthy of my validation. It was really cool that they didn’t just have«100 great love poems» books like most used book stores and instead had a lot of local and semi-current writers as well as some classics. Beyond that, they had sections for some of my other favorite things like comics, vinyl, and limited print zines and local comics. They even had a café. This place was literally heaven. I wish I could have spent more time there, but unfortunately I was pressed for time. I ended up purchasing a local zine and a local poet’s chapbook, which mind you, is exactly what I was looking for when visiting another city’s book store. I chatted for a bit with the employee there who was both friendly and cute which, ya know, is always a plus. I’ll definitely be back!

Comic books and coffee! I want to go to there. I love this place, I wish it were my place. They host a great variety of events(music, authors, artists, etc). The staff are awesome as well.

Books. Coffee. Records. Comics. Zines. Pinball. Music shows. Open early and very, very late. Seating outside and in. Seriously, what more could you want out of your local bookstore? Their prices are good, the people that work there are cool, and the crowd is always interesting.

Dark, gritty, and grungy. Used books are so charming and this is the best bookbar in Denver. staff is friendly and informative. Just plan informed– the counter person always has some tidbit of knowledge on whatever book or record I happen to be buying. The coffee is solid and the pinball machine is always in working order. I recently discovered they are dog friendly too! Which is great because my dog thinks he’s a people and goes into a full blown depression if I leave him outside of stores.

Dark and grundgy, but I loved it. They are dog friendly and allow pets inside! LOVE that! The coffee shop made amazing americanos. The person working was super nice and friendly. We felt really welcomed there. It was our first time in. Really glad there was a random cool book store/record store/coffee house, close to where we were staying.

So this is my new favorite bookstore! Well, «used» books that is, under the inconspicuous name of «Mutiny Information Café,» you might easily mistake it for something completely different were it not for the vintage pulp books and eerily interesting Cyberpunk industrial art sculpture on display in the window. This place has the most unusual and eclectic mixture of vintage antique artifacts like old record turntables and typewriters and neo-noir I’ve seen including a Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! and a Dark Knight pinball machine! A freaking Dark Knight pinball machine! WANT! There’s also a midievel throne, piano, and a creepy Cyberpunk mannequin there to assimilate you into the Mutiny Information society collective. Resistance is futile! They have quite a healthy selection of used books from just about every genre across the board and at very reasonable prices. They also have an impressive selection of used vinyl records that will take you back in time. And of course there’s the café for coffee, teas and sodas for your biological consumption. Relax in a comfy couch or just chill in a chair like Morpheus while you assimilate a good book or interface the free Wi-Fi network while downloading information wirelessly into your mobile devices. Mutiny has you! Mutiny Information Café is the BEST bookbar I’ve been to in Denver. It’s located along the strip of South Broadway within blocks of a few other recommended used bookstores, antique dealers and coffee shops and directly across the street from Happy Coffee on the corner of Ellsworth. Mutiny Information Café is like a pop-culture oasis and a very intriguing establishment that distinguishes itself apart from all other bookbars and earns the highest recommendation. They have everything and the kitchen sink too. Just go!

It’s a shame I waited so long to enter Mutiny. I have lived four blocks away from S. Broadway for about 9 months now. 9 months too long without perusing the dusty bookshelves housed with a wide variety of reads. It seems every book in here is used, making it even more charming, and waiting to be picked up and read in the oh-so cozy corner in the back or by the coffee shop inside. I hear the coffee is actually downright delicious — creating an even bigger reason for me to return for the long haul. I am thinking a full day camp out with books, coffee, and records. Oh — yes, half the store is comprised of old records, as well. The aesthetics are reminiscent of an old professor or scholar’s office or perhaps a magical book store that has a secret hallway in the back that leads to some sort of magical cult gatherings. Whatever the secret group is — I want to drink the Kool-Aid. This is a local store at its finest.
