David C beat me out to it, darn it – but it’s true — Krewe is closed and scheduled to become part of Stoney’s in spring 2015. I was lazy about writing a review for here, now I have to write one posthumously for it. The wait staff was good to great depending what night you got there; I think it was below average once — they stayed on top of everyone’s food and beer orders. I played on a trivia team there Monday nights — and unlike Stoney’s where it’s 20 – 30 teams and like a gigantic clusterf on I25 in Friday rush hour(not kidding, seen 8-way ties for 3rd place there), trivia was nice and intimate here — 4 – 8 teams typically; during the fall the trivia was courteously interjected between flags and commercials on whatever Monday Night Football game was playing. The food overall was very tasty. One of my teammates’ favorite dish, and mine — especially bang for the buck, was a pound of grilled Andouille sausage which you could then dress up with medium or hot BBQ sauce. So good. They had great po’ boys — had my 1st catfish one there and was really pleased with it. And their chicken & dumplings/wintertime-switched to duck n dumplings was amazing and nicely seasoned — but a bit small for the price(it was soupy-style, not thick gloppy style). They had a nice set of about 18 – 24 beer selections and about 6 they’d rotate in and out for seasonal specials. My go-to beer there ended up being Dogfish’s 90-Minute, but I also enjoyed some of their saisons and 1 or 2 others. I learned I don’t care for extra hoppy IPAs here, too — I know, that’s blasphemy to admit in this town, but screw it. I gotta be me, baby. Bartenders were friendly as well; I *think* some of them may have dual-worked between Krewe and Stoney’s. I don’t know what’s been going on with the recent rash of haters here(that’s another bar, kids — LoDo), perhaps the kitchen specialized in some dishes and fell short in others. Was here between 1 and 2 dozen times before they went under and overall the food, friendliness of the wait staff, and specials(half price beers before 7 on trivia nights, and snack specials) made it an overall good-great experience for me… so I bury you, Krewe, with a medal of valor and a 4-star rating. It was a good experiment… and you also had a great patio for the warmer weather… just sad it never caught on fire revenue-wise. Hopefully your new incarnation as Stoney’s add-on will help the overcrowded situation there.

CLOSED as of 12÷8÷14. It’s going to become the private party room for Stoney’s next door, apparently. This was a decent place the one time I went, but it was on a Monday night with football and trivia and it wasn’t that crowded. So I guess I’m not that surprised.

So the atmosphere of Krewe is not bad, the problem is the food is terrible. Went here the other night with my wife and our cousin for a Saints game with the expectation of eating some food while watching the game. Just to set this up my wife and I are LSU grads and our cousin is a USL grad, so we have all eaten our fair share of Cajun and Creole food over the decades. My wife ordered the chicken and andouille gumbo and the mac’ and cheese, I ordered the jambalaya. So the gumbo had a very dark roux that didn’t even taste like a roux, and we couldn’t tell if the pulled meat in the was chicken or some kind of beef or pork??? The herbed crust on the mac n’ cheese looked and tasted like the powdered cheese mix in boxed Kraft Mac’ n cheese. The jambalaya was barely seasoned and tasted extremely bland. The least they could of done was throw some Tony’s in it! I do want to add that our service was great, our waitress was on top of things and took care of us all night. I would suggest a good start to getting the food on track with the rest of the bar would be to buy some Zatarain’s and serve that until you come up with some real Louisiana recipes.

This place is NOT a Cajun establishment. It is a sad excuse in the disguise of a Saints Bar. The roux used in Jambalaya and the Gumbo is by far a plastic tasting atrocity. The burger is basically a pink slime patty with fake tasting toppings. The Fat Tire beer was flat-not too pertinent but still annoying. Also, the service is slow. If you are a Saints fan, then this is the place for you-subpar team with a subpar bar to watch the game.

It was okay, food and service. Had the Pork Platter($ 11.00, not really a platter, but a portion) and coleslaw. The pork was excellent, but smallish portion. The coleslaw was very blah and dry. The cornbread was excellent(best I ate all week), the best part of the meal. Service was just okay, friendly guy. The bartender(Grec?) would have been able to replace my coleslaw if he had ever come back until I was finished. I was the only one at the bar, except I think the manager on the other side. Not really New Orleans, more BBQ, for what I had. Thank you for your time.

Coming from the south, I’m naturally a Saints fan. So when I heard about this place, I was excited! We got to the bar at 11am, which was when the game started. The place was packed, so they seated my boyfriend and I in a booth that already had another couple in it. Advice: Call in a reservation, it’ll be worth it on game days. The ambiance reminded me of the comfort of New Orleans. The people were loud and spirited, the energy was spot on, and the«who dat’s» made me feel at home. The ambiance is the reason I gave it the extra star. The food really deserves less stars. We started our meals with pork wings, chicken wings, and slider platter. The pork wings were smoked riblets, and they were okay. Same goes with the chicken wings as they were also smoked and pretty good. The slider platter consisted of pork, brisket, and chicken. They all were just meh. Reminded me of the sliders one would get at a school function. We then decided to try out the creole food that we both loved and knew all too well. Their«gumbo» is definitely not gumbo. It’s rice and gravy. Think of the brown gravy you get from packets or from the cheap cafeteria. There were some remnants of meat, but nothing I could distinguish. Their cornbread is awful. They were hard as pucks and not sweet. The only thing that semi-saved it was a pat of butter that had melted on top. Butter always makes things better. Lastly, we gave the jambalaya a try. Again, this was not jambalaya, but a creative twist of dirty rice. It tastes like they put cumin in both the gumbo and jambalaya and just really distorted the flavors. If I were you, just stick to the smoked stuff and basics. Don’t try their cajun/creole items. It would be awful for this to be your first time trying New Orleans cuisine and believing these items were a good representation(because they are not). Beer kept flowing, so that was always good. The bloody mary process was a do-it-yourself. They bring you a shot of vodka in a glass of ice, and you go to this buffet line of bloody mary items so you can mix to your taste. It actually worked out well for us, so the second star is for their Bloody Mary table. Geaux Saints! :-)

Have you ever been to new orleans before? Neither has anyone involved in this mediocre establishment. Food ranged from offensive to average. Save your money. This place will not stay open.

Felt like I was in NOLA when I was actually in the heart of Denver… good place to catch some live music as they have a cozy stage area and a nice patio to enjoy the beautiful Denver weather as they are located right next to Stoney’s. Enjoyed the little bit of food I did have: smoked pork wrapped jalapeño poppers and pulled pork sliders, I believe… Denver needs a little more NOLA, so hopefully this place does well.

Definitely won’t be back. Brisket & pork shoulder were bone dry… Truly disgusting to eat… Tough & chewy. Cornbread was burnt on the bottom. Wings were rubbery and old. The rice in the jambalaya was mushy. The mac n cheese and the cucumber presbyterian drink I ordered were by far the stand outs. Overall, not worth a taste… Head to Boney’s downtown on Champa for authentic BBQ in Denver. I bet this place will be closed in a few months — too many empty tables(it’s lunchtime on Sunday & we’re one of only two tables sat), a general identity crisis(why is the ceiling dark red? It feels like you’re in a barn), and, BBQ creole that’s lackluster, and served well beyond it’s tasty, useful life.

With half my family living in the deep, swampy parts of Louisiana, I have high expectations for anything labeled as «Cajun» food. I must say, KCC does it and does it well. Have I had better Cajun in Louisana? Sure. Have I had better Cajun outside of Louisiana? Not on your life. This is the closest thing to real Cajun cooking as I’ve had since my childhood summers in Zwolle, LA. I am really overjoyed to have as close to the mark Cajun food as you can get outside of New Orleans. My only complaint, which keeps me from the 5 stars, is that honestly the pricing on the menu seems a little wacky. $ 13 for a po’boy is a bit ridiculous. You’re much better off getting the pick one or pick two BBQ meal. Way more food for the same price. I looove po’boys, but I am not about to pay $ 13 for the smallish ones they have there, even if they are pretty good!(I tried one once, ultimately decided it wasn’t worth the price. The BBQ meats are the way to go!) I’ll be back! I crave more of that chicken and brisket.

The bbq is good quality stuff. It’s moist, tender, smoky and delicious. The jambalaya was also top notch. I’d certainly order food to go from this place anytime I happen to be in the area. The service started off good. We had a perky waitress that asked all the right questions and got us off to a great start. It was a warm evening in Denver so we chose to sit outside and enjoy the night. The next person that came to our table and deliver our entrees was not our sever. This in itself is not a big deal, food runners are a good thing. However, we at that point had not received our appetizers, also not a deal breaker. I mentioned it and she promised to take it off the bill. About halfway through our meal the manager lit the gas fire pit which we were directly next to. We were the only table next to it, just to be clear. Did I mention it was warm outside? At this point we were a little perturbed, but the food was so good that we adjusted or seating and finished our meal. We ordered dessert, which took forever. By this time we had seen our original waitress a few times but had been served by 4 different people, none of which seemed to understand that we weren’t kidding when we asked for refills of our drinks. Before dessert came, a trio of young men came out of the kitchen, turned up the fire, took of their shoes and proceeded to smoke cigarettes while they roasted their toes. We ate our bread pudding, which was the only food that was disappointing whether due to my general disposition at that point or genuine quality I couldn’t say, and left after we paid our bill. The bill that we asked to have split, it wasn’t, the bill which we were reminded that the appetizer was«taken off for you» as if she was doing us a favor. Admittedly, I was bitter by then. I’ll not be back, I’d give this place 1 star, but the bbq is really really good.

This is the old Donkey Den/Sutra/Hive…and it still smells like it. The smell of old liquor and bleach is overwhelming so we sat on the patio. The BBQ sauce is amazing. We had jambalaya, brisket, chicken, and ribs… all great.

If you’re looking for a little taste of New Orleans, this is the place. The po boys are good and everything we had was very spicy. The meat portions on the barbecue plates were a little small but all-in-all good food and nice waitstaff. Didn’t like the bands they had on the weekends starting around 9 and if you’re really in the mood for great barbecue, search elsewhere but try their Cajun options

It’s almost as if they ran out of money about 2⁄3 of the way through the opening process. For as brief as it is, the menu is muddled… they have spicy«voodoo» bbq sauce in the kitchen but they won’t mention it unless you hint towards the desire of something hot. It also costs an extra buck, something only the bill will divulge. However, both times I have been here the servers have been friendly and the service is substantial considering how new the restaurant is. I can only give the food an average rating for now but I could branch out a bit more before I come to an ultimatum(a po boy, for example). Brisket was a bit dry, decent draft beer selection and good cornbread, the ribs were the highlight of our last visit…

Do you like BBQ? New Orleans inspired dishes? Beer? If you answered yes to any of the above, you should check out Krewe. Their cajun dishes are good but I especially love their barbecue. The beef brisket and pork are amazing! The portions are large enough for me and the hubby to share a plate, with an extra side or two. The jalapeño cornbread and jambalaya are both favorites of ours. They also make a pretty legit fried green tomato appetizer… very tasty! With lots of craft beers on tap there is always something good to wash down the food. This location has turned over so many times with previous clubs and restaurants, but based on the food, crowds and other reviews, it seems like Krewe Crescent City BBQ is here to stay.

I really like the place although the barbecue could definitely be better. I would give it three stars but there was a racist drink in their menu and I definitely didn’t like it. It’s called a purple drank.

We have an absolute love for NOLA and have been waiting for a good restaurant to open up Denver that does that great city justice. Overall, we were happy with the atmosphere. The band playing was fantastic, the NOLA beers were great and it made you feel like you were sitting down on Magazine Street in NOLA. Biggest complaint is that the service was extremely slow. We placed an order for an app and waited 1.5hrs for it. In the meantime we placed our orders for our meals, which took around 1.25hrs to come out. Shortly after we started eating our meals, the app came out. During this time our server never came to apologized or even came so we could order more drinks. The food was good once it came out, although for $ 13 your po’ boy should have more meat on it. It was mainly lettuce and tomatoes. They are newly opened, so we are hoping and praying that they figure their system out so we can enjoy quicker and more filling meals there in the future. Please don’t let us down, we need more music and southern food in this town!

They’ve run out of brisket, chicken and pork ribs. Translation? They’ve run out of BBQ. We weren’t told this when we were seated but after waiting 30 mins. to be served, we were told. Had to figure out what to order instead and now we’ve been sitting here for 20 waiting to order again. :( Update: We eventually ordered. Awhile after ordering we talked with a guy, told him what was going on and then were brought appetizers. 20 minutes after that we were told they ran out(yet again) of more food. One would expect that there would be an ample supply during GRANDOPENING and Mardi Gras night. Very disappointing. We will NOT be back. Seated at 7:30, left without being served at 9:45. The waitress said we weren’t the only ones to cancel after waiting that long.

It came with a total of 6 shrimp. 6. WTF! My friend ordered the oyster poboy. Take a guess how many. 4 total. $ 13 poboys with noting on them. And the tomatoes and pickles were diced. Is that crazy or what. It was all fling of the sandwich. Chef… Slice em. Worst co slaw EVER! Along with the(frozen) fried green tomatoes.

A friend of mine strongly suggested that I try this new place. I came with two buddies a few days after they opened and we ordered their signature BBQ plates, an appetizer, and all of the stuff on their«Stuff!» menu. It seemed like the staff was running around a lot, and they did get one of my orders wrong. A gentlemen came up to me and apologized and honestly, it wasn’t a big deal at all. It didn’t ruin our experience, and that extra effort really made the service memorable. I understand that launching a business(of any type) generally does not go perfectly in the first few days. That aside, I came for the food, and that was going to determine if I will be returning or not. I couldn’t stop thinking about the food so two weeks later, I came back with a party of six. This time I was a little worried because the place was busier, but everything went off without a hitch. Our waitress was excellent, and I even had a different gentlemen come to chat with us about our experience, even when there were no issues. I love the atmosphere of this place, the fusion of Cajun and BBQ, and all the details that go into the food, which the excellent staff will happily talk to you about. I’ll end this off with two important compliments to Krewe. There was a couple in our group that new Cajun food very well. I really enjoyed the food but their opinion would ultimately have me coming back(again) or discovering a different place at their recommendation. They both said that Krewe is now their«spot», and they feel at home eating there. The second compliment came at the end of our meal, when the gentlemen came up to us and asked us if we liked the BBQ sauce… nobody at the table used the BBQ sauce. We were so involved in stuffing our faces with everything just the way it is, that nobody even noticed the BBQ sauce. Enough said, take that for what it is.
