No one would EVER confuse INT’L MARKET with the Bzr-e Tabriz, the Mısır Çarşısı, or even the seemingly stupendous Kari Baoli road, but since I’m not going to be in Tabriz, Istanbul, or Old Delhi anytime in the foreseeable future I will just have to do with the items available to me at this market on Parker Road in Aurora. International Market is not very large, but one will still find plenty of spices, nuts, herbs, teas, and both familiar and curious foodstuffs from all parts of the world. First up there are spices, and it smells so intoxicating and exotic the minute you open the front door. The spices here are super cheap compared to any mainline grocery store or specialty spice store — you will find an olfactory commingling of cumin, nutmeg, cardamom, turmeric, cinnamon, fenugreek, coriander, cloves, anise… and many more. The spices are mostly ground, but there are pods and seeds available too. Next up, and the reason why I come here, is to pick up Greek items at half the price you will find anywhere else in town: pastitsio noodles, kataifi, phyllo, and those Papadopoulos biscuits that are perfect for dunking in your Greek(ok Turkish) coffee. I also stock up on pita bread, the good kind that you heat in a pan with olive oil, not that pretend pita pocket stuff you find everywhere else. There are also all kinds of lentils in every color, rice in bushel bags, and other dry goods and grains that I have no idea how to name or even use. There are canned grape leaves, chick peas, tahini, olive oils, other cooking oils, and Ghee. One can also find all kinds of spicy chili based sauces like Sambal and yes, they even carry the all American Sriracha. There is a selection of meats(not sure if they are Halal or not), feta cheeses, olives, some fruits and veg as well. So much to choose from, come and explore, it is fun and you can pretend at least for a little while that you are in some foreign bazaar rather than pan-ethnic Aurora, CO. *Just a note: this is not the most pristine store I’ve ever been in, and I don’t know that they practice FIFO principles either, so you should definitely check the dates on all your purchases… don’t let that deter you.

This International Market, indeed has a strategic location. Please do take note with regards to the driving directions to this store since its a one way entrance and exit. This International Market is located right across the Main Mosque, for Muslims living here in Colorado. The main highlight of this Ethnic Grocer is that they do provide prime cuts of beef, lamb and goat for reasonable prices. All you can do is ask, and they provide that service for you. They provide choices of rice, beans, teas, grains and not forgetting fresh spices. You can find countless of items or ingredients if you intend to make international delish meals from countries such as India, Iran, Pakistan, Turkey and Greece. They do speak English. It will go a long way if you can speak Arabic to them and the staff are friendly once they recognize you. If you can, ask for the Owner named Walid Wahdan to make the prime cuts for you. The Muslim community here is fortunate to find another Zabihah or Halal grocer to provide their daily poultry or meats in town. Will return when necessary.
