Really great. I went with a friend for a special occasion & it was quaint and lovely. We had high tea & it lived up to my expectations. I was surprised that the even had vegetarian finger sandwiches available. Our waitress was extremely knowledgable & friendly.

My favorite tea spot of all time! A very diverse sampling of teas to choose from, scrumptious finger sandwiches and scones, and delicious petit fours and desserts! Not to mention the friendly and knowledgeable staff, and laid back atmosphere where your can come as you are and enjoy tea without the presumptuous«airs». My go-to spot when company comes to town; HoC never disappoints — a hidden gem! Just wanted to give you all a special shout-out: My coworkers catered in House of Commons for my baby shower, and it was divine — just like being at the shop! Not only did everything taste as wonderful as it does when you dine in for high tea, but the presentation was stunning as well. Both women and men alike enjoyed our afternoon tea party; definitely a lovely shower and I am so pleased beyond measure! Thank you, Jessica and your team, for making my day so very special! Also, I have family coming in from out-of-town next weekend, and we have reservations next Sunday for high tea, so we will see you very soon! Now, which teas to choose… :)

Wonderful assortment of delicious tea, but simply terrible service. Although we had a reservation and although there were other tables readily available, our party was seated at a dirty, sticky, unset table. Eventually a server came to set it, but I had to ask her to wipe the table because it seemed she would not otherwise have done so! Service over the course of our afternoon tea was slow and inattentive. Although we were paying $ 25 a person, we had to work to gain our server’s attention to ask for things that we clearly needed(e.g tea for a member of our group who arrived after everyone else). «Endless pots of tea»!?! It was like pulling teeth to get any additional tea at all, and when I did ask for another pot of tea, my server said, «I’ll just bring you more water», as though I was asking for a special privilege. Certainly no offer was made of trying something new or different. Along with our food, we were given a small accompaniment of jam, clotted cream, and curd. It was quickly used up and the plate of condiments was put at the edge of the table to be replenished. No such luck. We eventually asked for more(again feeling like we were asking for something that wasn’t included in the tea) but our server only brought jam… not cream or curd which were both out. Sigh. Afternoon tea should be special with all sorts of delicious little bites. I’m sad to say that afternoon tea at the House of Commons was rather pedestrian… and well… common. Some of our scones were even burned. I would go back to House of Commons to enjoy a pot of tea, but at $ 25 a person, there are certainly much better places in town to enjoy afternoon tea. ******EDIT******* Jessica Avery the owner of House of Common immediately responded to this review with an apology, a promise to address the service with her staff, and an offer of a full refund($ 100 since we were a party of 4). Clearly my experience was out of the ordinary and I’m asking to take my refund in the form of a gift certificate so that I can give House of Commons a second chance.

Fabulous tea spot in Denver. The afternoon tea was lovely and filling($ 25) and my Christmas tea was heavenly(even in May). Peaceful and sunny atmosphere, I hope to return with more friends soon.

If there’s anything I love as much as great food it’s a great name, how do you not LOVE this! Ok, I’m done gushing. I have no idea how I got onto this page, but for a few months it’s been somewhat of a guilty pleasure looking House of Commons up and photos of scones on tea stands. Finally, I got a chance to stop by. As luck would have it, it was a fine overcast day perfect for enjoying a British tradition. By the time my husband and I came in it as mid-bridal shower(judging by the stacks of Crate & Barrel boxes) so we sat outside, with a guest’s lonely lap dog. House of Commons has an absolutely extensive tea menu. I’m not a connoisseur of tea myself, but when a tea is described as the«champagne» of teas, that was the one. Darjeeling, if you’re curious. By the time you figure two sandwiches, two teas, and two scones it works out to be about the price of tea for two. How can you not? Tea for two is a four tier stand with four types of sandwiches, two kinds of scones, shortbread cookies and petit fours. You can also upgrade for champagne if you like. It was the perfect Saturday afternoon. From what I saw, the shop looked beautiful as well. large windows, a small patio(apparently dog friendly), chandeliers, and a wedding photo of the Queen and Prince Philip of Edinburgh. Cheers to the ladies who had their shower here. Next time, I’ll get more photos.

Six of us met here to celebrate a birthday and we all agreed that it was time and money well-spent! It’s a cozy environment and we felt pampered and taken care of during our entire time there. One of our party eats gluten-free and was especially impressed not only with the quality of the gluten-free offerings but the fact that it was presented identically to the ‘traditional’ service. After trying and comparing notes on a number of different teas, it was a special bonus to be able to buy some of the loose tea to take home. Now if only I had someone to make fresh scones and finger sandwiches, I could recreate the experience completely!

You can’t go wrong with anything you order here! I’ve been for both high tea, as well as lunch. The Kensington sandwich or quiche are great lunch options! Their food and tea are delicious!!! I especially love the iced tea! Of course, you also can’t leave without a scone and Devonshire cream. ;)

I’ve never been to the real Great Britain but I try my best to mimic it by going to afternoon tea as often as possible. And yes, I go way too much. House of Commons offers the most elegant, peaceful, delicious spread I have yet to find in Denver. They have a wide selection of different loose leaf teas and they serve sandwiches, soups, pastries, and yes, afternoon tea service. Normally I just go for a pot of tea and a scone(more on these little morsels later). I love many of their teas but my all time favorite is the mango black tea. A vibrant black tea with a hint of mango. They serve the tea with milk(if it’s a black tea or if you ask for some) and sugar cubes(one lump or two dear?). Then comes the scone. Oh so amazing. They make them daily and have blueberry, cranberry, and plain. The blueberry scone is my favorite although they are quite elusive. The scones come with berry jam and Devonshire cream(oh the cream!). Simply enough, these two items will make your day. Guaranteed. If you are wanting a tad more, then I recommend their Knightsbridge sandwich. Brie, mayo, lettuce, tomato and English cucumber. Superb. They have several other vegetarian sandwiches as well, all of which are quite delectable. They also make amazing soups and have constantly changing flavors; you do need to ask if they are vegetarian. But if you really want something special, no, spectacular then go for Afternoon Tea service. This is really where House of Commons shines. You have to call ahead to have this service as they make all the pastries and sandwiches fresh for you. Afternoon Tea includes a bottomless pot of tea(not just water but as many types of tea as you want!), scones, sandwiches, and desserts. They come out served on a tower of amazingness. When you call in you can request that everything be vegetarian or gluten free and they can accommodate you! Afternoon Tea is truly my favorite thing. Whether you are looking for a casual cup of tea or an elegant tea service, House of Commons is the place to go!

We had afternoon tea for two. It’s about $ 25 per person. The prices was worth it, imo. It included unlimited tea selection so we got to try four different tea pots. We were so filled up we didn’t attempt any more pots. The pastry tower that comes with it has 4 tiers. The bottom had 2 types of meat sandwich, a horseradish roast beef and chicken salad. The finger sandwiches are very tiny and I worried I would leave hungry. This was not the case, at least for me, but husband left feeling still hungry. He was perfectly fine with it, however. This is an afternoon TEA experience, not AYCE. The roast beef horseradish was very yummy for me even thought I tend to have a distaste for horseradish flavors. The second from the bottom tier had more finger sandwiches. An apricot jam with cheddar cheese and a cucumber sandwich. I didn’t know jam with cheese in a sandwich could be so satisfying! Of course, why wouldn’t it be? The cucumber sandwich is refreshing but nothing to wrote home about. We enjoyed the sandwich tiers with Early Grey with a vanilla twist(some other name on the menu) and the African Rooibos. The Earl Grey with vanilla twist was heavenly with just two sugar cubes. The African Rooibos, I added milk and honey and it was so fragrant and charming. The third from the bottom tier had scones. 2 plain and 2 cranberry. There is a side of lemon custard, strawberry preserve, and devonshire cream. I totally loved the plain scone with the lemon custard + devonshire cream. The cream, by the way, tastes like butter. Hubby called it butter and the two older ladies at the next table were overheard thinking also that it was butter. Regardless of whatever whoever wants to call it, it’s delicious with the scones. The scones themselves were baked well. I’m not a big scone girl, they tend to be too dry for me. I enjoyed it thoroughly paired with the teas. We enjoyed the scones tier with Lady Grey and Japanese Sencha, a green tea with a cherry scent and flavor. While I normally rock green tea at home all the time, I didn’t really like green tea in this setting with all the very western flavors. The LADYGREY. OHMYGOSH. I LOVEDITTHEMOST! It’s a more delicate flavor and feminine compared to Earl Grey. I found it fragrant and beautiful. I am savoring remembering the lingering aroma of the lady grey. I added 1 – 2 sugar cubes with milk and it was BEAUTIFUL. The very top tier was mini cakes and while the chocolate cake(more like a brownie with heavy frosting) was good, I’ve had way better and the top frosting layer was too much even for a chocolate lover like myself. The other pink cake was MMM~ MMM~~ GOOD. I wish I could remember what it was but it is really yummy. Also on this top tier, a delicious thin little cookie that I dunked into my tea. Oh yea, I did that. All in all, a very pleasant experience. On a side note, I was a little disappointed that they don’t serve the tea in fine bone china but it didn’t much subtract from our experience.

Nice little tea house. There are many options for tea and food. The atmosphere is nice(especially when snowing outside!). The service was very good as well.

One of my biggest challenges as a Scot living abroad has been finding a tea room that not only knows how to bake the perfect scone, but also doesn’t try too hard to create a ‘British’ environment. It’s warm and inviting, with a large selection of quality leaf teas, traditional sandwich recipes, and friendly service, something that’s kept me coming back for over four years even though I now live in California. I could not rate this highly enough — this is, by far, the best tea room I’ve been to in the USA.

We’re all high tea people… and I’m not even a huge tea fan.(Coffee, please!) But it does make me feel classier. A little more British. And a little more posh. All right, that’s probably in my mind, but that’s okay with me. The House of Commons is a cute little spot downtown. The tea was good and the little sandwiches were even better. Don’t worry — companion and I did not attempt to speak with a British accent during this time. But maybe next time…

What could possibly be better than Afternoon Tea on a beautiful colorado day? Okay, okay… so there are other awesome ways to spend an afternoon… But Afternoon Tea at House of Commons is still pretty darn high on the list. Whether you’re a tea aficionado or an ‘I only drink coffee’ novice, I highly recommend stopping in(making a reservation) sometime. What can you expect from an Afternoon Tea service? Why, let me tell you! First, you’ll be presented with an astoundingly large menu of teas to pick from. Don’t worry, if you opted for the full service, you can try as many as you want. I highly recommend on the African Rooibos. Then, in what may possibly be the most exciting moment of your day, a beautiful tower of food(think tiny sandwiches, scones, and afternoon desserts) will appear in front of you. Before you know it, the sun will be setting, you’ll be completely relaxed and perfectly full from the snacks, and having what very well may be the best conversation of your life. Alright… that may be an exaggeration, but I do find I have some amazing conversations over a pot of tea(or 5). While the service itself can be a little pricey, it’s an experience you have to try at least once. If you’re not up for shelling out the cash at the moment, you can always go for the less expensive ‘cream tea’ option, which gets you a pot of tea and scone(the scones are my favorite). Obviously the necessary fixings(jam & devonshire cream) are included. Still aren’t convinced? Why not take your mother/best-friend/significant other for mothers day/birthday/anniversary? It’s a lot of fun and you’ll enjoy yourself too.

Such a cute place and great selection of teas. My favorite is getting the cream tea which is a pot of tea, a homemade scone, Devonshire cream, preserves and fresh fruit for $ 10! The staff are really nice and it’s a great place to just go a relax and enjoy the simple things.

My cousins rented this place out for a bridal shower and it was perfect. The entire place was already decorated for Christmas which made it feel very festive. I had a black tea with elder flower that was SO good, I must have had at least 4 cups of it. The scones and sandwiches were very yummy. The wait staff were extremely friendly and attentive.

Love this place! The service was excellent, our server was so nice and volunteered to take a photo of us. The ambience is lovely with classical soft music playing in the background. The Afternoon tea deal comes with assorted bite sized sandwiches and sweets. It normally comes with jam/chicken sandwiches but they accommodated us vegetarians with delicious hummus/cucumber and tomato/mozzarella sandwiches as replacement. Pretty happy about that! Plus, it’s in a great location for doing a little shopping/window browsing afterwards. Certainly will return!

I stumbled upon this cute little tea shop as I was walking around the area finding time to kill until the sushi restaurant opened for dinner. I’m so glad I found this place! It was a random Saturday and it was snowing and windy outside so I could not have found this place at a better time. This place is a small, and casual, and the ambiance was quiet so the overall experience was relaxing. They have pastries, finger food, and teas that could be ordered by the pot, or pay a set price and get unlimited pots of tea. I payed for the unlimited tea and used the opportunity to try many different teas I was curios about, but have not had the chance to try before. The service was fast, the waitress was helpful in recommending teas, and an all around wonderful experience. I will definitely be back.
