Store has closed. The owner wanted to retire back in his home state of California.

I had thought the internet put all movie poster stores out of business. I am pleased to know I was wrong! I just checked out Hollywood Posters for the first time. As others have said, it’s quite cluttered! However, assuming you’re not claustrophobic, I definitely recommend you check this cool little spot out. They have TONS of movie posters from all eras of cinema, and also large selection of music posters as well. There were also piles of DVDs in certain areas too, which I assume were all for sale. I chatted with the owner for a few minutes. He seemed nice and quite knowledgeable of movies in general, which impressed me. Nice to meet another movie buff! Apparently they also do custom framing and the owner said they offer the best prices in town. I did check around with a couple other local framing businesses, and their prices seemed comparable to the quote he gave me. Regardless, I will definitely be back for all my movie and music poster needs in the future! Go check this place out!

Piles. Piles. And. Piles. Of. Stuff. Stuff. And. More. Stuff! However, love this place despite what anyone else thinks. Not sure if anyone else that is rating has had conversations with the gentleman who operates this place but he is a very smart man when in comes to movies, characters, years, you name it. I buy items from this place twice a year or more. Just remember your hiking boots, there is piles of stuff. Lol.

I have been coming to Hollywood Posters for over 25 years. I’m actually amazed John is still in business with all of the posters that are sold on eBay now. Both Hollywood and Cinemagraphics on Evans by DU [now closed] were the only places to get authentic movie posters back in the day. However the«authenticity» of said posters here can be kind of questionable. I bought an «original» Indiana Jones poster from him about 20 years ago and it turned out to be a reprint after I had it authenticated using an online source. It seems he gets a lot of single-sided«reproductions» that are not the genuine article. I’m not necessarily saying he’s aware of this(which he may or may not be) but I’m just saying Buyer Beware. If you are a serious movie poster collector you know the drill and what to check for. I have been collecting movie posters for decades and I’m well aware of the mass produced reprints and ways to differentiate originals from reproductions and the like so I am a bit leery when it comes to paying for an expensive poster that may or may not be an authentic. Now in the digital age, movie posters are becoming easier to mass reproduce and it’s almost impossible to know what you are getting if you buy them online from less than reputable sellers. His store is also a mess and somewhat unorganized. I literally had to climb over piles and piles of posters when I walked through the door. It’s amazing how the place hasn’t changed in 20 years just gotten messier. Also if you are paying by credit card he adds a $ 2 surcharge. He also does custom framing which can be kind of pricey with turnaround time. I can get the materials from Guiry’s and frame them myself for about half the price. But hey, if you are looking for nostalgia and don’t care about whether you are buying a reproduction poster of your favorite movie to hang in your college dorm or bedroom, it’s the only place left now in Denver to buy a movie poster.

Okay, so it kind of looks like a hoarder lives here. Piles and piles of… Stuff. But like some other reviewers have said, it is like a treasure hunt. I’ve always liked the nostalgia of Movie Posters, and I even like some of the more«Artsy» and well-designed posters now. Picked up a Captain America teaser poster here for a decent price(about what you’d pay on eBay.) You do have to be savvy, here, though. Know your product and know your pricing. He can pretty much charge what he wants, because he’s got a captive audience(Pun Intended.) Also, note that he’ll charge you a few bucks more if you’re using a credit card. His framing pricing and timeline was a bit steep, and we’ve had better luck at Arts and Craft Stores(like Guiry’s.) for UltraViolet cut glass and Poster Frames. But he can and will do them for you, just at a premium. So, take a deep breath, step over the piles of… stuff… and flip through the posters. It’s a trip down memory lane, and you might find something nifty that suits your fancy.

It’s pretty cool that poster stores still exist in this age. But I guess it makes sense… we always need something to decorate our rooms. This is that something. They have pretty much any kind of poster you can imagine from Monet to Ministry to Mickey Mouse and everything in between. They are pretty reasonably priced too. The only problem is the guy who owns the store is sometimes there erratically. He’ll put signs on his door saying«be back in five» during normal business hours. But I guess that is because he is a one-man poster shop and a guy has to do what he has to do.

It’s a poster store… what do you expect? Well, for one get ready for some serious J. Depp. As you know, he’s been in many a film. and many a movie poster, every the leading male. So then, get ready for a multiplicity of J. Depp calenders, Pirates of the Caribbean card board cut-outs, Edward Scissorhand paraphernalia, and the like. Lot’s of Salvador D. Jack Johnson. Tomb Raider. Have a good time!
