I moved from KCMO and was saving my hair cuts for my stylist back home. A co-​worker or mine recommended Headwaves, and I am so so happy that I went!
Evelyn did an amazing job on cutting my kinky curly hair and even helped me to achieve a shorter style. I felt right at home in the salon and everyone was very kind!

I’ve been going to Headwaves for a long time. Frankie Wilson is my stylist (don’t confuse her with Frankie, the owner). In short, Frankie is a genius at everything hair. Highlights, all-​over color, cutting, looking at pictures and replicating the cut. She’s accommodating, patient, friendly — everything you’d want your stylist to be. I’ve had manicures, facials, and bought many products at Headwaves.
If you’re new to Denver, new to the neighborhood, or new to Headwaves this is your new home!

Frankie and team accommodated a family member who gets confused even though he showed up way early and needed extra help. And, he got a great haircut. Love the personal touch.

I called them for a major color fix needed and was able to get in with Christine. She’s very quiet and relaxed (which works well for me) and she took my nightmare hair and made it beautiful. She did not charge me for a blow dry (and I have crazy red long curly hair) and I thought she was very affordable. I also got my brows done too and they used a hard wax which was great fort skin. A+!

I have been going to Headwaves for a long time — Lynn cuts my hair and she is wonderful and talented. I have referred LOTS of people to her because I’m often asked who cuts your hair? She makes me look good.
The salon is a perfect neighborhood business, friendly, clean and reasonable. Frank, the owner, takes pride in his salon and in being part of the community.

My review is going to be short and sweet, because that’s what this salon deserves. I’m 20 years old and I have been going to Headwaves for at least 13 years. I have always liked to experiment with my hair– changing the color and style as often as I can. Headwaves has always been able to provide the cut and color I had in mind and I love it every time. Each and every one of the stylists and employees is experienced and friendly. I would recommend this salon to everyone.

It is very sad that someone left a single star for this great place, and even sadder still is the fact that she is so obviously ageist and plain old mean.
I have been going to this salon for 15 years and have never once had a bad experience, not to mention a bad haircut. Frankie the owner is a really sweet guy, and greets all his customers personally.
I highly doubt that a business that was as poorly run and operated as the mean reviewer suggests would have been in business for so long.
Plus, I go to a salon to get my hair cut. I call my friends on the phone to talk!

I went to Headwaves this morning for highlights and a haircut. I am new to Denver moving here from California and have been hesitating going to a new hair salon. I read lots of wonderful reviews of this salon and decided to give it a try. First of all, I was expecting a trendy sort of environment with young and upbeat hairstylists. While the salon itself is very cute and trendy the hairstylists that were working this morning were not. My hairstylist was Becky, a much older woman who I’m sure has been doing this a very long time. She was perfectly pleasant but not exactly a conversationalist. If you aren’t looking to gossip or have conversation at the salon then Becky would be great for you. I, however, am one who likes to go to the salon and gab with my stylist for an hour or two about any random thing so I thought it was a little awkward to sit there quietly.
She started with my highlights. Slowest. Highlight. Experience. Ever. I’ve never had it take so long to apply foils. Aside from the lengthy application process, she excused herself 3 or 4 times and walked into the back room. I found out from the receptionist that she has back pain and after so much time standing she needs to take a quick breather.
Oh– I mentioned I went in for a cut and highlights. After a few seconds in the chair I quickly changed my mind on the haircut. There was absolutely no way I was going to let this woman put scissors to my hair, not even for a trim. I went in to have quite a bit cut off (about 8 inches). It’s taken me about 3 years to grow my hair to the middle of my back and I am now ready for a cute and trendy update. I brought in a few pictures of the cut i wanted and she barely gave it a glance. I had zero confidence that this woman would give me the trendy stylish cut I had in mind. Needless to say I will be going somewhere else for the cut.
As for the price– outrageous!!! I was told when I made my appointment that the partial highlight would be $ 85 and the cut would be $ 50. Not terrible. BEWARE of hidden charges. When I went up to pay for my highlights I was charged $ 115. Not sure why since I nixed the haircut. She told me, oh I charge $ 30 for the blowdry. Sorry hun she said. What??? I’ve never been charged for a blowdry when it’s accompanied by a service. If I knew I was going to be charged 30 bucks for her to blowdry my hair I would have left with it wet. This means, if I had gotten the haircut with the partial highlights and the style I would have been looking at close to $ 200. Never in my life would I pay THAT much unless I was in Beverly Hills.
$ 115 for a partial highlight and a blowdry that took almost 3 hours= one customer who will not be returning, unless it’s to collect my $ 30 refund.
PS– they don’t take debit/​credit so if you decide to give this place a try you’ll need to bring cash (or walk across the street to the ATM machine in the 7 – 11).

See Marishka for the best highlights in Denver. She knows beige blonde like no one else in town (meaning not brassy and not ash). Great vibe in the shop; always feel great when I leave. Highly recommended. Give her a try, you won’t be disappointed.

Headwaves recently added massage therapy to enhance their services. I booked a 1hour massage with therapist, Candace Maddren and she was fantastic. I’m very athletic and appreciated her firm, yet healing touch; she’s a true professional. I felt fantastic after the massage and for days later. The massage room was very clean, quiet, private and soothing. All in all, I had a great massage experience in a great location to boot. I highly recommend this service and can hardly wait for my next appointment.
