Great Scott’s(Denver) have lost their way. So many aspects of the new location are different and just plain bad that as a customer of more than a decade, I’m now considering better options. It’s not just personal preference for the old building talking, there are systemic problems with how Great Scott’s is being operated. The reason this is a two-star and not a one-star review is the food — it’s been consistently good(when it’s prepared as ordered) regardless of location. It’s the other things that gave Great Scott’s its charm and brought customers back time and again that are severely lacking. Things like great servers who don’t forget your order between the table and the kitchen, 50s music in a 50s diner instead of TVs splayed with music videos spanning decades of rock. And we can’t forget the patio — what on earth were they thinking in not building a patio? It was probably the single-greatest asset they had in the summer months at the old location on the corner. Nostalgic elements aside, easily the biggest problem is the«great wall» now dividing the dining room. It’s almost laughably metaphorical in that it stands against everything that made the open floor plan of the old building so successful — line-of-sight: it’s nonexistent in this restaurant. And honestly, a little bit of line-of-sight could go a long way to improving the service here, both from the customer and staff perspectives. In my opinion, the lack of line-of-sight is the single greatest driver of higher wait times and the resulting lower level of accountability in quality service. I think it’s incredibly telling that so many of the long-time staff have bailed since the move, and it’s indicative of a sinking ship. Heather was smart, she left before the move, but now people like Jake and Carley are leaving and the few remaining threads of goodness in Great Scott’s seem to be going with them. I for one am not willing to pour my money into an operation that so clearly is unwilling to embrace overwhelming feedback as a learning opportunity instead of an attack on pride or character. It’s a real shame Great Scott’s has gotten to this point, and this is one long-time customer who won’t be sticking around to witness its demise.

Well, after speaking to Melissa after my last review, I promised I would give them another try. A group of 6 went for our monthly meeting. It was unanimous, the breakfasts at Great Scotts is far from great. Unfortunately, it was worse than last time. I had the Chile Rellenos breakfast with scrambled eggs. The chiles were watery and tasteless, the egg roll wrap was undercooked and gooey(I am guessing from the excess water in the chile). The scrambled eggs were brown. Eggs should never be brown, NEVER. My eggs were not the only eggs that were burned like that. The hash browns were crispy on the top and bottom, but tasteless and mushy in the middle. The manager came over(she did not introduce herself, so I am not sure if it was Melissa) and asked: «don’t you like Rellenos?» My reply should have been: Guess what, I would not have ordered them if I did not like them. But my reply was more polite and I just said, «I do not like them the way you serve them». She then took the plate and walked away. When it is just me bitching that’s one thing, but all 6 of us thought the food was horrible, gives one pause, doesn’t it. GSE can claim fresh ingredients and expectations of excellent customer experiences, but I have had plenty of ‘frozen, throw it on the plate and serve it meals’ that outshine GSE every time. The manager did not seem that concerned with our«customer experience». Sorry guys, that was weak. We will not be back.

This is the first time I came to the new location, I loved the old one always had me coming back. Today we came from Aurora to eat as we showed up they sat us fast a big plus but only gave us menus for adults as I had two children. When we order our drinks they didn’t give us straws or gave us creamer for the coffee it took them 10 min to get to us again. We had to ask for them. When we order 2 adult meals and 2 kids, our food it showed up 20 min later not only to forget my meal I had to wait another 10 min. I was pregnant… Make things worst I was the hungriest Everyone had fries as a side and they where seasoned mine where not and had half of what everyone had… The waitress didn’t check on us and only passes by to say everything good to not let us respond. They never came to refill our coffee but always came to check on the seniors around us. Forgot to mention a couple came 15 min after us but still got their food faster then us. Hate to say but I don’t think I want to go again I’ll just go to a diner close to us its just not the same. I felt ignored and bad service. Food was great but I guess I have no plans of going again.

Extremely disappointed with how this restaurant has gone down hill in the last few months. Moving into this area I was very happy finding such a great place to eat and was sad when they closed to move locations. During the grand re-opening, service was great and the food was awesome. Lately not so much. Sometimes it can take ten minutes before my drink order is even taken. My food has come out cold a few times. I never recieved my shake or salad one night. Another night I was seated by the kitchen and all In could hear was cussing from the staff members in the kitchen and the waiters, sometimes my roommate and i have a toddler with us. Not cool. Sad to say I will not be going back here. After bad service from three different waiters I will no longer waste my money or time.

Every time I have came here I have had such a nice time. They have wonderful food and such an easy going crowd. This is definitely an old friends get together sort of place, I don’t really know about bringing someone you are trying to impress. You also have to like that hole in the wall waffles joint kind of vibe, nothing fancy to see here.

I’m giving Great Scott’s a 2. Food is really good, I give the Food a 4. I agree with some of the other comments the service isn’t that great servers are very forgetful even with writing it down, my pick up orders are always missing something. They forgot a soup I ordered then when I called they said no problem come back we will give you 2 soups, got there and one of the soups was starting to separate. I asked her if it had been sitting there for awhile and I got an attitude. Servers need to work on customer service!!! Footnotes: Food good, service sucks. Call it in and double check b4 you leave…

I liked this place. I was never able to go to the old location. I had the chilli cheese fries the other day at midnight, I know that’s bad for you. But the good news is that they were pretty awesome! The service was good considering the fact that it was late. But I definitely recommend this place if you are on the go or if you get hungry at night! :)

Well, I’ve heard lots of good reviews of this. I went this morning with a friend and her two girls. My friend had a Secret Santa scratch card that expired today, the main reason we came. The parking lot was full which was a good sign that it was popular; bad thing, we had a 15 minute wait, which wasn’t that bad. We were seated and got our menus and water. The waitress came and took orders for my friend and her daughter, spotted her Secret Santa card and had her scratch it off. It was for 10% off; she took off with the card, not even getting my order. We had to flag her down in order for this to happen… really? Order came in a reasonable time; however, this was the first time I’ve ever had to want 10 minutes to get my toast and my friend’s french toast. Really? I ordered the country fried steak and eggs. It was supposed to be 2 eggs. scrambled; no way that was two eggs, unless they were miniature robin eggs. I did get about a cup and a half of 95% cooked hash browns though. The steak and gravy was pretty good. When we got our ticket, she had not taken off the 10%. Okay food, kind of crummy service though. Not too impressed. I might come another time… maybe.

Not the service — It was the lack of quality food — If you are Mexican and add a ton of Jalapenos and Hot Sauce — then may be I could say OK — but I ordered Eggs Benedict — ICK !! Ham — Lame — no real flavor — the Hash Brown — Very hot — VERY undercooked with barely a brown on the top side — Ghost white everything else. Eggs — Fine — English Muffin — toasted correctly. Holandaise Sauce HORRIBLE /Coffee — MEH … I could only shove down ½ my meal — not a place I will eat again !!! Just SAD food ! Oh — WHO puts Pico on Eggs Benedict !! This is NOT Mexican Food !!

Great Scott! What in God’s name… You had great 24 hour service and a great location. You decided to give it a face lift and now it looks like a drunk George Jetson decided to have a 50’s fetish for his mid-life crisis. Why mess with a good thing? The original actually looked like a 50’s quaint diner. As a bonus, you now get to wait as they don’t have enough seating! Food is still pretty solid, but I’ve found the wait staff less than friendly, less than responsive and overall lacking in interest.

good food, good service, good prices, good selections, good parking, plenty of room, except after church, then about 10 – 15 min. wait

I tried the new location out. Very clean and new, wait staff was very rude and not attentive and it took forever to get our meal. With that experience I won’t be going back. There are better diners around to go to.

Posting another review since the owner of this establishment wrongly reported my first one. I dined at this establishment this weekend with my friend, each of us paying separately — I with card, she with cash. Upon return of the waitress, we were each HANDED our corresponding checkbooks. I signed and tipped, and my friend expressed confusion about her change. Ultimately, we concluded that she had likely paid with her 100 dollar bill instead of her 50 as she had thought. The next day, I found 2 charges on my account — one for the 12 or so dollars that my meal was, and one for 110 dollars!!! You can imagine my shock and rage. I call the store, get patched through to THREE different people, and end up talking to a VERY rude man — whom I learn is the OWNER.(Very unprofessional). Instead of nicely helping me figure out the confusion, he gives me an ultimatum: threatening me to call the police or to bring 110 dollars down there. Obviously, I bring my friend who has, at this point, figured out her mistake(please understand, I am well aware that upon this figuration she/we know the«right» thing to do would be to bring the money back — but if we are all honest, almost no one would.) And she was very scared about getting in trouble with the police. Regardless — he used fear and blackmail to get us to pay an amount that could NOT be proven, made it seem as she had«stolen»(even though, again, she was HANDED the book — a mistake on the waitress’ behalf), tried to act like we attacked a — and I quote: «19-year-old pregnant girl during the holidays» — which no one EVER intentionally did(and might I add it was not obvious at all that she was pregnant, just for the record), charged MY card(during the holidays ;)) for a mistake I did not even make(which is ILLEGAL, by the way) and on top of it all, was beyond rude. He justified his actions by saying we(aka my friend — separate entity from me) «stole» and that was wrong — though he also stole from me? ! 2 wrongs do not make a right — especially from a business standpoint. I have worked in customer service for a very long time, if I ever gave anyone my tips, I would accept full responsibility. NOT charge another person’s card and then FORCE them to pay. To make matters worse, I posted a review here that he replied to me via message, threatening me again!(I will try to post a picture) and then he reported the review so it was taken down(businesses on Unilocal are not supposed to be able to control their reviews, ftr). This is very very bad business, and I encourage no one to support this behavior. The food was not even good! Stay far away.

Update: Giving 3 stars instead of 1 now– this is why Unilocal is great! The manager reached out to me based on my review here, and asked questions to help figure out what went wrong. So, I will be looking forward to trying again and updating my review further. Went there for years, at old location and liked it ok. Now, don’t order the eggs benedict!!! Terrible! Clean place it seems since it’s new, 10 Seconds from the old place… service was super slow, servers spent more times socializing and on their phones than on us. Asked to speak with a manager, waited a long time and decided to forget about it, not worth it, just won’t be returning.

New Location! New Location! New Location! The new location of Great Scotts Eatery, is about 1 block east of their previous location. This new location seems to be larger, at least I think it is. It is nice! Clean interior, more tables, and more room to move around them. Their previous location seemed, rather was, very tightly packed, and difficult to move around. The menu is still large, with something for everyone. If you can’t find something to eat here, then I really don’t know what to say. The service is very good. Your coffee cup is always full, as well as your water glass. The parking is easy, with a large lot. Prices are good too. Yes, we are a fan, and we will be back.

Sorry folks it’s not the same place like the old place. Service was super slow. Took almost 45 minutes to get the food. Server came about 2 times. It’s time to find another place for me.

After a long day of work(I’m a server) my husband And I went in to eat. The service was horrible! We had to ask to have our order taken, wave another server down to get a refill. Our server never asked how our dinner was. Food was just ok. We even had to go up to the front counter to get the attention of someone to pay. Wasn’t worth the $ 30 we paid. Won’t return. Will also point my costumers far away from this place!
