Absolutely horrible service! Told to seat ourselves, at any of the dirty tables, given menus and chips then NOTHING! The waitresses wouldn’t even come over after making eye contact. Waited 30 minutes before walking out — something I have never had to do at a restaurant. The food looked great — too bad we couldn’t even order.

This place is fantastic! I had the tacos el carbon pollo. Super yummy! Large portions, and not expensive. The chips and salsa were lacking, but everything else was great! We went to the Aurora location, and we will definitely be back!

I have been here twice and the service has been great and the food awesome! The green chile enchiladas were delicious and the churros are to die for.

Being a gringo from Florida we don’t really have authentic Mexican food. I went here excited to try some. I wussed out and got a burrito supreme to go. It came out really quick, was eaten really quick, and came out the other end really quick. Still though was really good and I’ll be coming back to try the real stuff soon.

Fritangas I like your food overall, but the rice is just weird, can’t you just make some Spanish rice without all those wilted frozen veggies. The agua fresca wasn’t very good last time either. It was cantaloupe, and it was watery. We also had mole enchiladas and tacos., both good. Then I ordered chile cheese fries. These were undercooked, and utterly sad. I will never order these again. Chile was lackluster as well. They have many choices on the menu, and some are better than others. The desert looks amazing, and I must give it a try eventually. Things that are good here are the tacos, enchiladas, tortas and I am sure many other things.

We have been here twice so far. Both times were great! This place has the best authentic Mexican food for great prices. Their breakfast burritos are yummy(try mushroom and ham!) and menudo is bomb! As for the rest of their dishes, we still need to try, but very sure they are just as delicious. We will definitely be back and this is now the go-to place for delicious, authentic Mexican food!

Cute little Mexican restaurant that has wonderful food. My favorite part, is the menu has a lot of the authentic foods I grew up eating, i. e, the enfrijoladas(you won’t find anywhere else) and other unique Mexican dishes that we love. The only reason I didn’t give it a 5 star is because I notice ever since their business volume went up, so did the prices. We stop in whenever we are in the area and in the mood, but we don’t go out of our way to frequent this restaurant. Also, Sunday mornings are PACKED!

A terrific Mexican restaurant, small but colorfully painted on he outside and inside. Located around the corner from the Asian Center, west of the intersection of Federal and Alameda. Everything is wonderful, especially the huaraches. Caters to the native speaker crowd so it’s where they find food that’s familiar appealing to them. The service is excellent. We got complimentary churos and helado fresa!

I went to the one on Hampden and learned my lesson. I will call to order and come and pick up. The servers kept walking back and forth and no one would take our order. I tried being patient, and a few other customers came in ordered and left. While I still sat and waited… I thought the service was not very good especially trying to order. It’s a fast food restaurant which tries to make it seem like a sit down restaurant. Other than ordering first and picking up I will not be coming back.

Best Mexican food in Denver! Expect to wait for a table on the weekends(but you NEED to try their breakfast!). Pick up breakfast burritos on your way up the hill– they are only $ 3-$ 5 each, and really big. Enjoy!

Wow! How have I not heard of this place before our good fortune(and Unilocal) led us in?! The most authentic Mexico City style Mexican food we have found. The only other comparable is Chili Verde(spellingis correct… unfortunately), with their authentic Puebla influenced Mexican food. Fritangas is better! After the first bites I had to ask where the owners originated from, and as expected was told Mexico City. They fully capture the essence of Mexico City food, without error(from what we have sampled so far). Looking forward to a weekend lamb feast and a caldo! The building façade fooled us for years into passing this as just another Norteno Taqueria… boy were we wrong! Don’t let the fast food appearance fool you… this place is the real deal! This place runs incredibly smoothly when the manager/owner is there. It runs a less well when he is not there. I was so impressed with the menu, price, and speed of getting my food it is so worth come to eat here.

Incredibly Authentic is the best way to describe the food! Service is great and the owners are great people. I have now eaten there multiple times and yet to have a single thing that I did not think was amazing. Would recommend a bowl of tortilla soup with any meal… Not a soup person but soo amazing. Recommend for any meal, even breakfast is incredible, be it a burrito on the run or sit down on the weekend for the huevos.

This is the some of the best Mexican food in Denver. The breakfast is great and affordable, but they also have a lighter fare for children and people not craving burritos. My favorites are the veggie(non-meat) menu items, most places in Denver don’t cater to people that either don’t eat meat, or are vegetarians. There is a lot to sort through off Federal but this is not a dive, it’s a gem.

My Hubby and I really love this place. The food is way more authentic Mexican than so many of the of the«Tex-Mex» places that abound in Denver. We are usually the one Gringo couple in the place, that’s proof in my eyes that’ s it REAL Mexican cuisine. You get a lot food for the price as well. We had a wonderful stuffed poblano pepper last night. It was stuffed w/beef, pork apples, pears and deliciously spiced. There was a nutty cream sauce to top it off. It was a delightful special of the week!! It was the best Mexican dish we’ve had in Denver. The staff have always been very friendly and attentive to us and we’ve been going since they opened. For great authentic Mexican food, there’s no place better for us. Go check it out. PS: I love the bright colored décor!

Good solid breakfast. Relatively cheap. Small dining room though. Other than that legit Mexican food.

Had their breakfast special. Everything was done just right. Waitresses are a bit too serious, but that could be due to the language barrier. Today’s waitress is much friendlier. This is my third time here and it’s been good food. The sign spinner on the Soutwest corner had a gray personality and a wonderful smile! Because of him and my waitress today, I’m upping my stats from 4 to 5. Lunches look good, I have to come back and try their lunches. Be back soon… keep up the good food and the fair prices!

Great lunch specials, hard to beat the price and quality. The«street» tacos as we call them make me feel like I’m in Mexico, authentic flavor and good prices. I believe they are called tacos Al pastor with marinated pork, cilantro, pineapple and onions. The steak nachos are great also.

I’ve been to Fritangas twice, for breakfast both times. Others in my family have had dinner there as well and report equally positive experiences. It really doesn’t catch your attention from the outside, but If you like bright colors(I love bright colors), as you step through the door it immediately engages your senses with a brilliant yellow, red and white décor. I don’t know but I’m assuming that Fritangas is family-owned and operated, and pride of ownership and a commitment to quality is apparent throughout. The paint is fresh and the restaurant is clean and well-maintained. Staff are sharp in black slacks and white shirts and blouses, and are very polite, gracious and professional. The menu itself is laminated — nice touch because they can keep them clean and sharp like the restaurant. Is anyone else grossed out by a menu that’s sticky with salsa and who knows what else from previous diners, or is it just me? The menu is large in terms of options, mainly, but not exclusively, Mexican food. We’ve had Mexican breakfasts both times and my peeps who have had dinner at Fritangas have had Mexican food as well and it has all been excellent. If you’re curious about their menu, they have a decent website(except for annoying music that comes on as soon as the page loads). Be aware that the site was last updated in 2008, but the menu looks pretty much the same except for prices understandably being a dollar or two higher in 2013. Still, it’s very inexpensive and a great value. I like the food at Fritangas a lot — the food quality coupled with the value received is as good as you’re going to get in a neighborhood Mexican restaurant. Still, we have lots of good Mexican food in Denver to choose from. Even more than the food at Fritangas, I appreciate the obvious hard work of the owners and staff to create and sustain a first-class small business in a very competitive market. This is what most sets Fritangas apart from much of its competition, and I really like encouraging and supporting the professionalism and quality that they’re bringing to their part of the Westwood neighborhood.

My boyfriend and I almost always hit this place at breakfast, so I can’t really speak much for the lunch/dinner food — though, the few times we have had non-breakfast items, it was pretty tasty. But, breakfast here is where it’s at. First, let’s get a few things out of the way. This is, in no way, healthy food. Like, we ate there this morning and were tired for the rest of the day. But, when you see things like cheese and chorizo on the menu, you should kind of expect this. I had the Denver Omelette this morning, which was fab. Despite the fact that it was loaded with chorizo, it wasn’t greasy. They claim to have the best green chile in town, which I’ve found is a very, very popular claim among Denver restaurants. I’m not going to say they have /the/best, since I haven’t tried every other place that claims to have the best, but their green chile is fantastic. Like, amazingly so. My omelette came with a decent sized bowl of it, and I smothered my plate. It’s nicely spicy, but not ridiculously so. One of the best things about this place is the value. The breakfasts I tend to go for here are right around $ 5.50 or so, and they give you a ton of food. Like someone else mentioned in their revue, the place is always slammed full of Mexican diners, and that always signals good things for me, much like when I head out to get Phở and find a place slammed with Vietnamese diners. And, the place is small and slightly cramped, but somehow the noise level stays down. The service is always good and friendly, which is important. Their fruit shakes are superb, and great to grab on the way out.
