I stumbled across this place on my way home one night and figured I’d give it a shot. The second I walked in I felt like I was on the East Coast, open kitchen with a glass window separating the pizza display and ovens, not the mention the NY/NJ accent I heard! It’s not a place you go in for a 5 star dining experience, but it is a place you go in for a 5 star«meal». As far as pizza shops go, this place is top notch! Pizza: Crispy bottom crust, yet chewy at the same time = perfect! Sauce was perfectly salted, instead of swimming in sugar like some places do = perfect Cheese was a nice balance of whole and skim it seemed, so it wasn’t greasy and melted perfectly = perfect Size = bigger than your face = perfect!

My family has been coming to Famous Pizza since before I can remember. It’s one of the reasons I started a love affair with pizza — cue my mouth watering. One of the best things on the menu is the deluxe combo sub: the sandwich bread is made of pizza dough(YES), ham, pepperoni, salami, cheese, lettuce, tomato, greek dressing and mayo. It is out of this world good. They’re pretty big so we actually split one between two people. Family owned and operated, it’s definitely a diamond in the rough but I’ll take it over a chain every time.

We ordered delivery and it never came. Then we called and they said give them more time… It still never came and they stopped answering the phone.

I miss this place! It was in our old neighborhood and we could walk here quite easily. Great, big slices of pizza. Garlic spinach was always my favorite.

This place is definitely not a looker but their pizza is great. I recommend the white pizza with spinach and feta. They have various slices available at any time so it’s great in a time crunch or when you want a quick cheap meal. I also love their Greek salad. It’s topped with lots of veggies and huge chunks of feta. Definitely not a date night but great food none the less. It also seems to be owned by 2 families who work are very hands on which is great to see.

Famous pizza??! Should be called Famously BAD pizza. I was served a nasty dried out piece of cheese pizza that tasted old and it was hard and stale. I came in for a slice after walking around on Broadway street in the middle of the afternoon. No one was in the joint except for the two older women behind the counter. Worst pizza I’ve ever tasted.

This is definitely New York style pizza and it’s amazing! They take your slice and cook it fresh when you order it so the cheese is hot and melted and the crust crispy. You have to fold the pizza to eat it which makes it that more authentic. Definitely hits the spot when frequenting the bars in the area. I will definitely come back to this pizza joint next time I am in the downtown area!

Disappointing pizza with a side of up-sell. The dough was under cooked and the little sauce I found on the pizza was bland. The rest of the experience left us feeling uncomfortably nickel and dimed. Water costs a buck, no free refills on sodas. Hot sauce is. 50 and there were only 2 parmesan shakers for the entire restaurant. Both were in use so I ended up getting yelled at by a crazy bag lady for taking her cheese.

I love mozzarella sticks so much, that I’d probably eat one that fell into the gutter on Colfax, however, I couldn’t even stomach a whole one from Famous Pizza. Two and a half hours wait on a Saturday night. The pizza isn’t very good… it’s only half tolerable when you’re drunk, and that is seriously saying something. Despite being 45 minutes late, I still gave the delivery driver a nice tip because I assumed they were understaffed and it probably wasn’t his fault. Everything was pretty cold. No apologies or discounts from the company. They’re open late, so I’m assuming they’re just catering to intoxicated people who don’t care about food quality. Bottom line, the food isn’t remotely good. Go elsewhere.

Authentic NY style pizza. I had a slice of cheese, the flavor and texture of the crust is some of the best I have had in Denver– really chewy, foldy and good. I like my sauce a little zestier, but red chile flakes are always there for me. The take away menu has some coupon offers. I may actually prefer to Pie Hole? There are elements of both that are outstanding! I will get getting pizza here on a regular basis.

If you’re really looking for pizza comparable to NY, THIS is the place to go to. Grew up on Long Island and then Manhattan, moving here 8 months ago this is by far the most authentic compared to the dozens I’ve tried in Denver.

I discovered this place after moving to the SoBo/Baker area last summer and am so happy I did. The pizza is consistently great, and the service is always warm and friendly. We order at least once every ten days or so, and the delivery driver is the friendliest guy ever. I’d order from them over a chain anytime.

Drove by last night on my way home from some retail therapy. Spotted this place and drove around the block again to park right out in front. I recognized the look of a NYC style pizza place. Born and raised in NYC, I am always on the look out for the«most like NY style» pizza. As soon as I walked in, the counter, window and pizza ovens reminded me of my most favorite place growing up. The only thing missing was a guy behind the counter tossing the dough into the air until it was stretched thin and round, and a big pot of tomato sauce with a ladle in it, also behind the counter. The lady who took my order was very polite and cheerful. I ordered a slice of cheese and a slice of spinach. While I paid and waited for my pizza, the young lady at the register offered me a large cup of ice water. Didn’t realize I was so thirsty. When my pizza was ready, the lady boxing up my pizza gave me two slices of spinach and a slice of cheese. She said she gave me two because the slices were a bit smaller. I didn’t notice that at all, but thanked her and went on my way. The pizza was very close to NY style as far as the thin, foldable crust and the generous amounts of ingredients. The taste was very close as well. Actually one of the best so far. Overall, a great experience. Will be coming back when I am in the area again. Growing up, my elementary school was across the street from my favorite pizza place. On Wednesdays I got 30¢ to eat out for lunch. A quarter for a slice and a nickel for a soda. It was the best of times!

Great pizza & spaghetti. We’ve been here dozens of times and never tire of it. We live Monday and Tuesday spaghetti nights — you can’t beat $ 6 for a big plate of spaghetti, salad and bread. It’s enough that we usually split one between the two of us. The pizza is great too, nothing fancy but great taste. Real friendly people too.

What would life be like without my Famous Pizza Fridays? I never want to find out. In my previous review, I complained about them not delivering to me. We have worked that out and get their delicious hot pizza every Friday. Their crust is the stuff dreams are made of. I love famous pizza!

5 stars! When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that’s Amore. Hole in the wall Pizza at its best. No-frills retro shop has some of the best thin crust, New York fold-in-half pizza I’ve ever had. You can smell the pizzeria when you’re about a block away. Let it draw you in too– it is that good! For about six bucks you can get two slices of pizza. Big slices. We tried the combo, the sausage, and my favorite was the white pizza with spinach, ricotta, mozzarella, feta and Parmesan. Yum Yum gimme some!

Traditional, East-Coast style corner pizza joint. Family-owned. Nothing fancy; just that sublime combination of crispy/tender crust, tangy sauce, and delicious cheese and toppings. I have never eaten anything here except pizza. Because, duh. It’s a corner pizza joint; the past dishes are not going to rival Mizuna or even Maggiano’s. Just get the pizza. It will hit the spot.

New York Style Pizza, on a Denver Corner, in a cute building with blue and white striped awnings. So picturesque. The pizza is pretty legit, too. Another reviewer said it’s the Pizza Joint your Dad went to. I completely agree. Crisp crust, foldable, no soggy pools of grease, shakers of red pepper flakes, parmesan, oregano, and garlic. I can almost picture 3 or 4 guys harmonizing on the corner with cuffed jeans and greased hair…

Looking for a quick slice of pizza as you’re strolling down Broadway? Smell that amazing aroma wafting from that corner pizza joint? That’s Famous Pizza and you better get yourself in the door! No frills but tasty made-to-order slices of New York style pizza pies for a decent price. And done quickly! If you haven’t visited Famous Pizza yet, you best do so soon!

This place always smells better when you are just walking by than the pizza tastes when you go inside. It really is enticing when you’ve been imbibing in one of the South Broadway booze parlors though. It is a reasonably fast, adequately tasty, and pretty cheap option when you need to get something in your tummy. Service can be pretty brusque, the place is certainly not big on atmosphere, and if you’re just getting a slice or two chances are it’s been sitting around waiting to be re-heated for awhile. There are certainly a lot of better options out there these days if you’re looking for something a little more«gourmet» but it definitely serves a purpose from time to time. Salty, greasy, cheesy, chewy, hangover preventing, all-purpose ‘za. P. S. — it doesn’t travel well IMO — get your delivery somewhere else.
