Don’t be scared off by this El Toro’s rugged looks, it’s clean, the service is fast and friendly and if you like delicious, stuffed, greasy tacos this is your place. The tacos are huge and a great value. These tacos are stuffed full of flavorful ground beef, steak or chicken and cheese then fried to greasy perfection; they are then stuffed with lettuce and tomato and served with a squeeze bottle of the best jalapeño salsa around. Don’t miss the chips and salsa where the same jalapeño salsa is served in a chunkier form with yummy homemade chips. Another draw, the fabulous green chili. Another review for El Toro scoffed at the chili calling it «gringo style» while longing for the orange gravy crap that’s mostly served around Denver. Well, El Toro serves up the«real deal» green chili and what one would find in most Mexican homes. It’s simply green chili and lots of it, tomatoes, perfectly trimmed pork and seasonings. Now that’s authentic green chili and it comes in hot or mild. Go for the hot, it’s just the right amount of heat. The beans are homemade and compliment the chili wonderfully, making a perfect burrito topped with lots of lettuce and tomatoes. This is a go to for anyone who loves those greasy tacos and true Mexican green chili and salsa. DELICIOSO!

Yay Greasy Tacos! Cliff notes: Eat chicken or beef tacos, no need to order anything else. Bring your friends! I work right down the street and my coworkers and I visit occasionally. We kind of have this rule, we can only go once a month. This rule was set into place for our health. It isn’t something you want to get into the habit of. These tacos are greasy, like grease dripping off the taco greasy. Although, greasy and completely unhealthy they are a treat. The most popular choice is the chicken taco. Shredded chicken and cheese taco, completely submerged in the fryer. I’m pretty sure the cheese is Velveeta, definitely processed. The beef taco is also good, shall I even say greasier??? Steak taco is not good. Would not recommend, almost a pre-chewed quality to it. (I’m not really convincing you of the four stars am I?) I don’t feel 100% safe coming to this location alone. You walk right through a bar of regulars. These regulars, might never leave… might sleep in the alley out back. It’s an experience, for sure. PROTIP: Check out Mexico City restaurant downtown. Very similar taco, nicer and less of a dive(if you’re not into whole in the walls). I heard the owners are somehow related.

THEYARECASHONLY!!! Love finding places like this. After a wild night. Nothing better to find a place that serves greasy hot tacos with fire salsa and a bowl of menudo and this place won’t even break your bank. The welcoming staff of cute Hispanic gals great you to your table and with an easy menu to order you get right to it. But mainly get tacos and menudo. Maybe a combo plate to try a little of everything. You want be disappointed. Add a pitcher or red beers and your set. They will offer extra napkins and you will need them lol. When ever I get back into Denver from traveling around the world. I love finding little whole in the wall family owned places like this. This place has been around longer than I’ve been alive. And eating all over the world with executive chefs and exotics street vendors after a concert. It’s rad to find a place in your own backyard you never knew existed. Gonna be coming back to this place for sure. If your on your way back to the airport stop buy for quick bite they serve quick and are ready to serve you. Oh they also have tang as an option on the menu for a drink. Strange and awesome. My tour manager says it’s a jail thing. Fuckin awesome. Ill get some tang next time. Till than bio con dios my friends and untz untz

I have been going to El Toro for YEARS and you cannot beat it for the best authentic greasy Mexican food. The steak tacos are out of this world. I always get a side of their potatoes and yummy enchiladas! Atmosphere is hilarious — very dive and you can buy interesting items at check out counter … maybe you need a faucet? LOL! You have to go and try it!

This is a great hole in the wall Mexican restaurant, I’ve lived in the area my whole life and never knew it was right down the street from me. I visited for the first time on Sunday and was very skeptical when I walked in, but after a few minutes I was already being seen by a waitress. Normally I can only get menudo on Sundays around here but come to find out they serve it everyday of the week! So after being helped by a waitress right away I had already been surprised considering there were only two servers and a house full of customers. I asked the server for a bowl of menudo, a Mexican hamburger for my girl and a pint of menudo for takeout once I was done with my meal. My food arrived promptly after ordering and was absolutely amazing, yet again with a house full of customers I had been taken care of by my waitress often to refill our drinks and make sure our meal was good. Around the end of my meal my waitress walked up with my takeout and informed me that someone had decided to pay for our meal?! I was completely baffled by this gesture. Why another customer paid for our meal I do not know but I am certainly grateful. I made sure to tip my waitress heavily as should you. All in all this is one of my favorite places to goto now. Great homemade mexican food! Awesome customer service! And very thoughtful patrons! This has to be one of Denver’s hidden gems!

I’m a glutton for greasy Mexican Tacos and this place has the good stuff. Had a cheese enchilada that was meh, but the tacos made up for it. If you’re looking for something remotely healthy, or are turned off by grease, look elsewhere. If you’re in need of a delicious greasy taco that melts in your mouth, check El Toro out. It’s a diamond in the rough. Bar is open late but the food stops after lunch.

Wow! That was honestly the worst taco I have ever had. It was amazingly terrible. No, really! I recommend stopping in to El Toro to experience the most horrible thing ever. Tell your friends and family. Seriously. I got a beef taco and enchilada to go and I was absolutely floored when I unwrapped my taco and began the awful task of sliding the taco-flavored grease schlop down my gullet. It was so impossibly greasy that my teeth slipped off of it when I tried to chew. So here is how they accomplish the impossible: They construct a taco on an uncooked tortilla — beef, cheese, etc. Then they take the whole thing and put it in the deep-fryer. Then they take it out and place it directly onto… no, not a napkin or paper towel, which would remove the excess grease… no, they place it onto aluminum foil, trapping all of the greasy awfulness in a wet, steaming pile. After downing the taco, I aprehensively tried the enchilada. Somehow, it also tasted horribly greasy. I’m not sure if it was truly greasy or if I was still tasting the world’s worst taco. Honestly, my mouth was so greased up it was still slippery 8 hours later. But at least my joints were lubed up and moving freely. Somehow customers keep coming back for this stuff. I will not. But I do hope you try it. You will regret it, but at least you’ll be able to brag that you’ve had the worst taco on the planet. El Toro, I award you only one star, not that you care.

DONTWASTEYOURMONEY!!! YUCK!!! this place was disgusting! the menudo was flavorless even a menudo out of a can is better then here. I saw some good reviews so decided to give this place a try. the food tasted old and my tacos were burnt when I told the waitress she yelled at me and said thats the way they make tacos. I’ve never seen a taco that had so much burnt cheese on it that all the tacos were stuck together. she yelled at me for about 5 min and then said if I didnt like the tacos then i shouldnt of touched them that way they could give them to someone else. I was shocked because regardless if i touched them or not thats a health code violation to give somebody else a plate that was delivered to my table. HORRIBLECUSTOMERSERVICE! NOFLAVOR! and they only accept cash.

Terrible food and service. Menu read«Mexican hamburger», and I ordered fries. Perfect opportunity for the server to tell me it was a hamburger patty wrapped in a tortilla. Disgusting.

Doesn’t even deserve a single star. What other people see in it I am not figuring out. Had a couple bites of our food and had to go somewhere else. Complete waste of money, time, and ingredients. The service was terrible as well. Everyone working there treated us like crap and were extremely ornery when we sent back our disgusting food… Go elsewhere!!!

Don’t let the location fool ya! Gringo breakfast with bacon is bomb if you’re not into tacos and menudo. For myself it’s bowl of menudo with tacos! My tradition is to eat the tacos over the bowl of menudo… let the drippings fall into the menudo! YUMMY!

Best greasy tacos in Denver. If you get a chance, their bacon is on point. They actually have Tang on the menu. Crazy cool.

Start with a mini pitcher(if you like your Budweiser with tomato juice, ask for it red), get a few steak tacos(fried), and a bowl of green chile(not too spicy) with beans underneath. You’ll appear to be a regular like everyone else. Don’t let the area(sketchy) deter you. Bring cash(no credit cards accepted) and note the limited kitchen hours.

A friend of mine that I’ve been friend’s with since grade school had come here every Sunday he could(which was most Sundays btw) for probably… well over 25years??? He doesn’t come here on Sundays anymore… Now he shows up on Saturday. I missed him by a day! Once again we played the CC sneak and it was a blast and like last year we came here to celebrate… with a greasy taco(only ½ of one this time:(but I still had to have my Gringo Breakfast w/bacon, smothered hot. Where do they get that damn bacon? Annnnd, they still do the friggin’ best damn greasy taco in town! What no menudo? No bueno. No room in the stomach. Next week. Probably Saturday. Hello old friends! veinticuatro.

They have the best greasy tacos ever! We both got combo tacos and chili cheese fries to share and it was awesome! I liked the chicken the best. Hubby liked them all. We’ll be back!

El Toro… what can I say. The steak tacos are good and take heed my dear Unilocalers, greasy is a perfect adjective for them. The bar is stocked and the beer flows easily. The menu is small, with burritos and tacos a plenty. The gringo breakfast will set u back about 5 bucks and get u enough food to leave a grown man satisfied. There is no children’s menu but they do have Tang. Menudo and red beer is the breakfast of champions on a Sunday morning with a hangover to cure. The décor is… almost like the bar in the movie dusk til dawn… almost. Word.

This place is off the chain GREAT! They are known for their greasy tacos and menudo and that is what I stick to! Their red chile enchiladas are a miss, coagulated blood looking red chile is not my thing, but hey, whatever. The place is a total dive, but isn’t that usually where the good food is?
