Well, there goes my diet! I found this place when searching for a good baguette to serve while having friends over for fondue. Needless to say, I had to try their quiche Lorraine(excellent). Since my first visit, I have made a few more trips back to try their croissants, chocolate croissants, the berry danish, and also another berry pastry that defies description. Everything has been wonderful and I keep making the drive to their bakery, aptly named Detour, to satisfy my cravings for their pastries.

This bakery is what dreams are made of. Croissants filled with savories or sweets tucked in buttery, pillowy, ever so delicate crispy layers of what will be the best thing to ever cross your lips. I strongly recommend you start with leek & parmesan then finish with the chocolate, caramel, pecan. Oh! One more thing… Do not share. Definitely get your own.

The best bakery I’ve been to in Denver. The people and pastries are more than pleasant! Must tries include: leek and parmesan pastry, blue cheese and walnut bread, lemon and cheese croissant, and iced cinnamon roll. Love this place!

Wowza. Everything here is fresh and delish. They have AAAhmazing sticky pecan bun things that knock cinnabon out of the universe. Prices are fair, service is great and place is clean. I love these little neighborhood finds in unexpected places. Florida & Holly has got it going on!

YAYYYYYY!!! I am so thrilled to have found this bakery! They have these savory pastries that will work yo facehole and make you soo happy. The tomato basil was delicious. The leek was life changing! The plain croissant was perfectly flakey, perfectly buttery, perfectly perfect. The chocolate croissant took me right back to Paris. I’ve not been able to find that flavor in this country. Until now. I have to go back for the baguette and I’m confident it will be the perfect Parisian petit dejuner. Now if I could find a decent fondue de boeff…

We ordered two chocolate croissants($ 2.75/ea), two plain croissants($ 2.50/ea), and a traditional loaf of bread that came out to $ 12.75. The croissants were flaky, buttery, and tasted on point, but there was nothing special about either. It wasn’t like I bit into them and screamed«OHMAHGAWDTHISISAMAZING». They were just croissants. The plain ones I thought were a bit pricey for what they were. Cute little bakery though with outdoor seating. The traditional loaf of bread was good. A tad on the hard side. Wish the products were labeled in the store. I had no idea what was inside any of the croissants.

Discovered this little gem. Sipped on a latte while I waited for my Quiche! Loved this experience. Everything was spot on. Clean fresh atmosphere. Unique. Really flakey and buttery pastry. Quality food and service.

I’ve been searching for years for a bakery in Denver with authentic, European-style breads and croissants that don’t taste like crescent-shaped regular rolls. At last, I found Detour Bakery! Excellent breads with crispy crusts and delicate crumb, a great selection of flaky croissants, and savories to die for. Add in the charming, friendly owners, and you’ve got the best little bakery in Denver. Tucked away in the side corner of a strip mall anchored by a Dollar Store, Detour Bakery is a little hard to see from the street, but well worth the search. Except for a few standards(baguettes, sourdough breads), the bread menu changes daily, so check their Facebook page for a list of this week’s offerings. Puffy quiches, filled and plain croissants, and savories in puff pastry are always on offer. Come in early for the best selection of breads, as some of the special offerings(like the blue cheese walnut bread) sell out quickly.

Went in today and discovered a clean modern bakery done in very good taste. The sandwich I ordered was quite delicious with just the right amont of condimints, lettuce and cherry tomatoes. The peach/custard danish was very good too. Large selection. The owner waqs knowledgeable and urbane, and cionversational unlike so many anti-social bakery staff. Defineately I’ll go back.

Over a year later and I’m still obsessed with this little place. Croissants and quiche for days. And the gateaux(no idea the spelling on that– little flourless chocolate brownie things). Amazing. My favorite croissants: Cheese(like a light, lemony yoghurt type consistency and taste) Lemon cheese Chocolate(so much chocolate!!) Raspberry cream cheese . I think I just like cheese. Please open up a shop in San Diego, detour!

My goodness. What a sweet little bakery hidden away in the corner of a little restaurant strip! My sister and I stopped in here 15 minutes before close and was pleasantly greeted by the baker’s wife! There wasn’t as much selection because it was nearing the end of the day, but there were still a handful of different types of croissants left! The different croissants included apple, chocolate caramel pecan, raspberry, blueberry, apricot, and chocolate. There were a few plain croissants, cinnamon twisty things, and some loaves of bread left. We went for the Chocolate Caramel Pecan croissant and the cinnamon twist. The Chocolate Caramel Pecan was indescribable, but I’ll describe it anyway. The croissant was really soft and moist, yet flaky. The caramel was not the goopy caramel that you get inside of a rolo, but a creamier caramel that blended flawlessly with the chocolate and pecans.(There were lots of pecans!) It’s often hard to find a cinnamon twist that’s still moist on the inside, but this one was moist and perfectly crisp on the outside as well! Then, as we were checking out, a little loaf of bread caught my eye while we were checking out. It was a loaf of banana pecan bread! So, I bought it. I mean, why wouldn’t I? I don’t make a lot of good decisions in my life, but this was a stellar one. The banana pecan bread was delectable; not-too-sweet, moist, and had lots of pecans. Perfect. The three items totaled $ 9 even. Incredible price for the level of yumminess(off the charts)! I’m surprised they’re not trading these baked goods for solid gold … Or are they? I’ll definitely be back, but maybe with more than 15 minutes before they close next time …

Great pastries! The cheese danish I had here was especially good. But you can’t go wrong with anything here. Definitely worth going out of the way for!

Eating a croissant while driving does not make for a clean car or lap but I was hungry and have wanted to try this bakery for a while now. The woman who I assume was the owner/baker could not have been nicer. The selection of croissants was really nice although she explained that it was a lighter load given it was a Sunday. For a little back story, I have a culinary degree and spent my culinary career in bakeries. My last job in the field was working for a Parisian who taught me the fine art of laminated doughs. Without a doubt, these are the best croissants I have had outside that bakery. Light, flaky and buttery, these were perfection. I got the cinnamon twist, almond croissant and a savory tomato croissant. Plus I took home a cinnamon roll and a loaf of bread. Most of the items made it home; some in to the freezer even. Hands down delicious.

Yum! I finally made it to this gem after a few months of it being on my bookmarks. I had taken the pup to the park and happened to drive by on my way home. I decided last minute to stop in and see what it was all about I walked in and the lady(i think she is the owner) helped me right away. She told me all about the mini quiches and I finally settled on Swiss cheese and red pepper. It was still warm from the oven when she handed it to me. I also ordered a chocolate croissant. The quiche was delicious! The crust was amazing! The eggs were fluffy and cooked perfectly! It was SO good. The chocolate croissant was also amazing and tasted fresh. The chocolate filling was perfect. Such a great little stop for morning goodies! They also have breads and baguettes that I plan on going back for very soon!

This little bakery has the best pastries, and they are all fresh baked. They have croissants in plain, strawberry, and chocolate, as well as cinnamon rolls and bagels. They have premade sandwiches if you’re looking to grab a quick lunch. Everything is delicious. The couple that work there are very friendly and helpful. They are closed Sunday and Monday, so don’t come those days! Soooo good!

The bacon jalapeño baguette available on Saturdays was a great find. I prefer baguettes harder on the outside and this one was less crusty. But the flavor was nice. I also ordered a chocolate chip bun. It was very large and I think she said there are nine chips in it. I microwaved it at home for a few seconds. The texture was denser than a croissant. I think they were out of choc croissants. I will give this place again and try another pastry and/or loaf. Give this place a try for their bread. And go early. The staff are really nice and the smell of bread is heavenly!
