I’ve passed by this place so many times and finally stopped in a couple days ago. The interior is small but comfortable and they have a nice outdoor seating area. I just got an iced coffee and it wasn’t very strong. Also, I didn’t like how they kept the milk behind the counter and added it for you, I would prefer the option to do it myself. Their«large» size wasn’t very large and although the coffee wasn’t ridiculously pricey I still left feeling like I had overpaid. I could’ve gotten the same quality coffee from Panera and it would’ve been 4 blocks closer and 50 cents cheaper. I would like to stop in again and see if their warm drinks are more impressive but I won’t be rushing back.

Loved it! Met a friend here for coffee this morning. It’s nestled inside the sunny corner of an office building looking out onto 16th St. They have a nice little patio outside(although it wasn’t set up today :-() and the inside has maybe 5 – 6 tables. My soy chai was awesome, great flavor. Just as I was about to leave a woman came in with the sandwich cart for lunch and they smelled amazing so I ended up getting the Turkey Mulfetta(sp?) to go. Also awesome. It had an olive tapenade and rosemary ciabatta bread omg so good. Will be back :)

I really liked this place. The staff was super friendly to me when I came in and said good bye to me when I left. They seemed to enjoy each other’s company as well, which is always nice. I had a salted caramel latte and it was really good. It’s like a liquid dessert more than a coffee drink. I also had the pumpkin chocolate chip bread. It actually chunks of chocolate in it – so good. So, so very delicious, I’m still thinking about my decadent breakfast. I’d definitely return.

#611 A small place, but it’s definitely convenient for all of the people who work in the area. I had a cup of coffee with a mentor here a couple of weeks ago and definitely felt comfortable lounging around, catching up. The employees all seem to get along really well too, despite some major age differences. Some of their chairs are a little worn out, so I would suggest an upgrade in the near future. Regardless, I liked it and would definitely drop by again if I’m in the area again.

I went for the first time the other day and really enjoyed it. The owners(Debbie and Chin) are so nice. They really seemed to know their regulars and were really friendly. I had not one, but two chais while I sat there and the food smelled great. I need to go back for lunch one day.

I do not normally post reviews on these types of sites, but I had to for this one — I have NEVER been treated so rudely at an establishment before! I discovered this place a couple of months ago, as it’s right near my work, and have been going about once a week for an afternoon drink. Up until today, I enjoyed this place — the people at the counter were perfectly friendly, and the Chai latte(which I normally would get) is pretty good. I try to support the local coffee shops, as opposed to going to large chains. However, today they lost my business for good. I walked over during my afternoon break, sat at one of their outside tables and took out my book, with the plan to order in about 15 minutes, so I could take some back to my office(if I ordered right away, I knew I would drink it all). A minute later a man came out and asked if he could take my order. I told him I was going to order in a little bit. He seemed to misunderstand, and he said there are public seats over on the other side of the patio. I said no, I am going to order something. He asked again to take the order. I said I didn’t want it yet. He gets angry and goes inside, calling a lady’s name. A few minutes later, a lady comes out. She sits down and starts telling me that I did this last week(I had NO idea what she was talking about). I told her that that was not me. She proceeds to ramble on about how people sit down and have meetings, and they have to clean up their mess, and that it makes other customers not end up buying anything as there is no seating. I told her that I understand they don’t want people who aren’t buying anything to sit here, but that I really was going to order something. She then tries to tell me again how I did this last week, and I again told her that that was NOT me. I told her I come here about once a week, and she said«well I have never seen you before.»(Who cares? You remember everyone who walks in?) I pointed to the lady inside and said well I know I have ordered from her before. I again explain that I was planning on ordering soon, and that if I were not going to order something, I would have sat at the other tables to begin with. She gets up and I believe she is just going to leave it alone, and the man comes outside and says something I did not hear, and she said forget about it, and he said«well call the police then.» I am already very irritated at this point, but am still planning on getting my drink, as I thought the issue was being dropped. But after this comment, I get furious. I again repeat for the umpteenth time that I was going to order a drink, and that this is ridiculous. He continues to be rude so I tell them that they have just lost business for good, and he just mumbles«that’s fine.» I am very disappointed in this, as it was the closest coffee shop to my work, and the next closest are Starbucks and Dazbog. But I guess I will be supporting the big chains during the week from now on!

So they have a really good cup of coffee, probably a 4 or 5-star cup.(I’m a fan of a strong cup…). But they were out of all milk products. All milk products. So I have to rate them down. I know that is a little harsh, but that’s what they need to do. They sell coffee. How hard is it to keep the milk replenished? They had three people behind the counter, someone needs to check on the milk. Also, don’t try to sell me your bread and muffin products 0.1 seconds after I make my order. The other reason I rate them low is that I can get better service and just-as-good coffee at one of the Corporate Places. When Corporate Coffee is your competition, you need to do better. Not going back.

Needed a coffee spot to park myself and do an hour’s worth of work while in the downtown area. Had never tried Curious, so I thought I’d give it a shot. Very disappointed. Coffee was OK — shop not very inviting or comfortable. No wifi(free or otherwise) and, because of the location, I couldn’t get my 3G portable hot spot to work.

If you’re a fan of burned and stomach-acid churning coffee, stick with your tried-and-true Starbucks. But if you want warm and welcoming service, a little bit off the beaten commuter path, this is the place to go for a consistent cup of coffee. If you’re looking for a place to relax without any pressure to refill or move along, the place is Curious Coffee. This is no chain joint, which makes this locally-owned and operated coffee shop highly valued by its regulars, many of whom work in office and government buildings within a block or two. Deborah is the busy heart of the place, ready with a cheerful good morning or good afternoon no matter the day. Chin is precise about how he makes his Americano coffee, which accounts for the consistency of this drink. I find the espresso to be a bit bitter, though. Discerning palettes will find that a standard brewed cup of coffee will be strong, but not burnt. My one wish is that natural, pure-cane raw sugar were available to customers instead of the processed white stuff. On those days when I want just a hint of sweet in my coffee, I’ve struggled to get that perfect balance because of the funky push-down dispenser device Curious makes available to its customers at the coffee-doctoring surface near the front counter. Usually I pass on the sugar because of this contraption. For excellent baked goods, arrive early, as they sell out the limited inventory every day pretty quickly. I recommend any of the berry scones, which are crumbly and delightful. Breakfast burritos also sell out quickly here, I’ve noticed, but I haven’t sampled one of those so can’t comment on how they taste.

It may be rated as the best coffee shop by Channel 7, but no, I am curious no more. My ice soy latte was very warm, and the coffee was incredibly burned and bitter. eck. curiosity did not end up well for me.

I tried this little coffee shop today, and I’m pretty excited to find something right on my route to the office from Civic Center Station every morning. I’ll definitely be going back. It’s a cute little place, really well-lit and cheery, but like the previous reviewer said it’s very small. I carry a big purse and I found it a little hard to navigate through the tables, counters, and other customers once I had my coffee. I was pretty much starving to death, so I got a burrito. I’ll skip it next time, though — it was pretty bland and very small for the price. For my caffeine fix I ordered a Mexican Spiced Black Cherry Mocha, because it was the first item to catch my eye and doesn’t it just sound magnificent? Unfortunately, I think the title had me expecting too much — before I even had the cup in my hand I was building up an experience in my head. I wanted to taste something complex, rich, smooth, sweet, and dark — but it was just pretty standard chocolate and syrupy cherry flavoring over some slightly watery espresso shots. I will say that the milk was perfectly frothy and at just the right temperature — the drink wasn’t bad at all, it just wasn’t what I had been dreaming of.

Oh my goodness, is this place great! Whether you stop in for a quick lunch or for a coffee break, you won’t be disappointed. The coffee is great. I ordered a mocha to attempt to get rid of my middle of the day headache. It wasn’t too sweet, which I like. Other places(i.e. that nameless Seattle-based chain that starts with an S) sweeten the coffee WAY too much. The prices are reasonable, what you would expect at an independent coffee house. The sizes are small, medium, and large. Simple. This place also had the most creative coffee sleeves that I’ve seen in a long time. It’s a small informational speel about the Anti-Defamation League, that values diversity and encourages folks to steer away from derogatory names. I love it. I ordered the turkey muffaletta, which an employee told me is in high demand. I can see why. Yum, delicious, tasty, extravagent, cheap, decadent, etc. You get the idea. The sandwich starts off with this amazing rosemary bread(kind of like the bread at Macaroni Grill). There’s also the basics… lettuce, turkey, tomato cheese. Ok. Then there’s this amazing, chipolte mayo on one side, and DELICIOUS tapenade(a Greek olive paste if you’ve never had it) on the other. It’s a beautiful mix in your mouth as it travels down to your stomach. There isn’t a lot of choices for made to order sandwiches, but it’s a coffee house. What do you expect? There are some already made sandwiches in the refrigerators, along with a big selection of juices and waters. The only complaint I have is that the inside is quite small, which makes it kind of hot; however, there’s plenty of outside seating on the patio if you need some air. The service was friendly and quick. I will definately return. Curious Coffee Company, I think I have a dietary crush on you.
