Found the truck at 1:45am on a hunt for post-GABF eats. We had gone to the early session, came back, passed out, and awoke famished. Late night options are generally limited, so we headed out & found these guys. They have patience; I couldn’t deal with that many drunk idiots at that time of night, but to their credit, they did, and did very well. He didn’t take names on orders, but everyone got what they ordered within 5 minutes of placing said order. I was impressed. From a menu perspective, first off, they have tots. Anyone that has tots is, by default, awesome. We tried falafel & the Chicago beef. Both were very good, though the falafel needed a bit more moisture to hold it all together. The beef was a sloppy mess, but delicious… whoever said it was processed needs to try it again, because mine was clearly fresh-sliced, thick beef. It was dipped in jus and coated in very spice giardiniera. It was slightly salty, but my guess is the jus had been sitting for a while boiling off, waiting for the money hour. Everything else they were putting out of the truck looked great as well. No alligator or reindeer because, well, that’s pretty douchey, and would be expected from a placed called Exotic Louies, not Chicago. Finally…it’s cheap. There’s no reason not to try it.

I mean… Really, I love this food truck so much I would marry it. I’ve come across it after last call in lodo, at Civic Center Eats, cap hill street fairs, first Friday art walk, and in dtc… And EVERYSINGLETIME it has rocked my world. I haven’t tried everything on the menu yet, but almost– gotta say the«Enforcer» is my favorite! Neon relish, onions, tomatoes, mustard, and hot peppers– hells bells it’s my hot dog soul mate! Loaded tots, falafel, and sausage up the wazoo… But I seriously think the sweet potato fries are their best kept secret. Perfectly crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and covered in some sort of honeyish glaze that I happily lick off my fingers(and the container if I hit up the truck after the bars). They also have the best assortment of condiments– franks red hot, spicy mustard, and jalapeño tobasco… All of my favs right at my fingertips! The dudes who run the truck are awesome as well– personable, quick, efficient, and entertaining. Two thumbs up! Gold stars for everyone!

God, yeah. Sometimes you just want a sausage with everything on it– mustard, ketchup, relish, onions, tomatoes, all on a poppyseed bun. And today at Civic Center EATS I got just that. I usually make a bee-line for Pinche Tacos, but oh-so-happy that I tried something different today(and it was even on the other end so I had to work for it a bit!) When I went up there, I scanned the menu but just ended up asking if they had a regular sausage with everything on it. Sometimes servers in restaurants look at you like you’re an asshole for asking such a thing, but the guy was great and hooked me up. And I got called ‘hun’ and it wasn’t creepy. Only there on Tuesdays of Civic Center EATS!

This truck was parked outside Beta Nightclub on a Thursday night a week ago for Markus Schulz. I asked them if they had any exotic sausages, like alligator, reindeer, or something. but they gave me a blank look and said oh we have a sausage with spinach and melted feta cheese. I thought okay let me try it, never had a sausage like that before. I paid the guy $ 10 and waited and waited for my change. In the back of my head, I thought he was trying to jack me especially because I came from a club pretty drunk and I acted like a gave him a $ 5 by not looking his direction after I gave him money. Then, I waited until I got my food and asked for my change… he acted all surprised and gave me a $ 5 back so I knew he was trying to jack me because he knew how much money to give me back. You got caught sucka! Watch out, they might try to steal your money here! And the sausage you may ask? It was one of the worst sausages I’ve had in my life! It tasted horrible, I didn’t even want to eat it anymore after the first bite.

Are you kidding me? Are you F*#$ing kidding me? What have I done to deserve this? Honestly, I haven’t been that good lately, and the food truck Gods pop a gift from Heaven like Chicago Louie’s on me. Yes, Denver, the Food Truck scene is taking off, and Chef Michel Wahaltere’s addition is going to help it soar! I visited Chicago Louie’s recently on a Wednesday, when they spend the lunch period down in LoDo at 17th& Market. The menu is a wealth of items that both trendy eaters and Chicagoans will enjoy. Fully loaded tater tots? You got ‘em! Loaded with queso blanco sauce, bacon, sour cream, and jalepenos. Gourmet sausages with toppings that make them even more gourmet? Yep. I had the Al Capone — an Italian sausage with pepper and onion ragout and provolone cheese. Delicious. They even have sliders, soup, chili, fries and mini corn dogs. Their menu will keep me busy for a few months just to try everything once. They even have Italian Beef sandwiches(they roast their own beef and make their own gravy!) and the gutbomb known in Chicago simply as «The Combo.» That’s Italian Beef with an Italian sausage nestled inside of it. Hello meal for 3. Chicago Louie’s is another great addition to the quickly growing food truck scene here in Denver. Welcome to the party!
