Taco tuesday was a great deal — decent tacos for $ 1 each and a chance to catch up with familiar faces around the neighborhood. Tried to go yesterday to catch up with friends after missing 2 weeks and was promptly told that they were closed for business. So sad.

Is it just me or is this place going downhill??? I have been going to this bar for two years now and every time I go, I’m disappointed. It’s an Auburn Alumni bar, so I have visited with an alum friend and had a blast. It was busy, lots of TVs, good food, etc. The older owner(?) was really friendly and appreciative of our business. Since then, we have gone in requesting specific sports and have felt like an inconvenience! The place is empty and they stick us next to a HUGETV and we were asked to put our bar stools back when we backed up to be able to actually see the screen. Taco Tuesday nights are a great cheap way to enjoy the night. I can’t cook worth crap and I make a better taco though. but it’s cheap and the atmosphere is fun. The wait staff is too busy, the new. younger owner(?) was sitting at a table on his phone for an hour and didn’t pick up a finger to help. I know a lot of business owners and I can’t imagine any of them sitting on their asses while the staff busts their butts and still can’t get everyone’s orders. He has shown a lack of drive and laziness with an added attitude. Foul, huh? I’m not going to say I would never go back, because it’s a small bar with a lot of TVs and beer which is what we like– but friendly, quick service with an owner that gives a shit would help!

So I really want to rate this place higher, but extenuating circumstances keep me from doing so. Let me start out with the positive… 1. Our server Tanya was awesome! She was totally overwhelmed however being the only server in the restaurant. She gave us great attention and was very sweet! 2. The food is pretty good! Taco Tuesday is great! $ 1 tacos(chicken, ground beef or shredded beef) that are pretty big, $ 2 beers which is a steal! Now the bad… 1. The owner is a total ass. He was being very rude to the staff. The server had just taken our order and we forgot to order chips and salsa. She was helping another table, so we asked the owner and he said«oh, she isn’t doing her job(referring to our server)» while he was sitting at the bar doing nothing. It was frustrating to see an owner not giving the proper help to the staff and bad mouthing them in front of the customers. Got to give props again to Tanya though, she was great!

Quite possibly the rudest owner ever. This man has a fundamental misunderstaning of how to interact with his patrons, or people in general for that matter. We were in on Saturday at 5:30 for dinner, a couple of drinks, and to watch the Auburn game. It took us twenty minutes to even have our drink orders taken. We had ordered a cheeseburger medium rare, and it came out brown throughout. Less than an 1⁄8th of the burger was consumed, and we sent it back. Rather than having another mediocre burger at unknown temps, we requested the burger be removed from the tab. The owner came over and said the burger would be discounted and that ‘what we tried to pull was b******t and we had 5 minutes to pay the bill and get out or he would call the cops.’ He then proceeded to call one of the people in our party a p***y and tried to start a fight unprovoked. It would have been one thing to come over and explain that he was unable to discount the burger, but the way in which he handled the situation showed a lack of managerial and people skills, let alone displaying actions detrimental to repeat business. The waitress, who was sweet, was very apologetic for his actions. On our departure, we were told this is a fairly regular occurrence by some of the locals and he will go off on patrons unprovoked. I would avoid this establishment at all costs; if I could have given less than one star I would have happily obliged.

Yeah. No. Not good. I mean it’s «fine» — edible — but the food isnt that great. It took me an hour an a half from the time I entered to the time I paid the bill to eat chicken tacos. Seriously? This is mexican food not a five course meal. I should be able to be in and out in 30 minutes when they’re not busy. Service was bad. Food was not that great. They have $ 1 tacos for Taco Tuesday –but you have to eat them there — and that will probably take way too long to make the $ 1 tacos a decent deal. I mean seriously — there is no reason for mexican food to take that long to be served… the meat on the tacos isnt even really seasoned — so its REALLY not worth it. I work right behind this place so I had high hopes too — I should have known better to wish for good mexican food in this area of town :) Also — I noticed another commentor said the owner yelled at the server right in front of them — I witnessed this too with our server. Unprofessional.

I am gong to break ti down for you and you decide if you’ll go. I don’t think there are many good Mexican food restaurants in Colorado many of them dump refried beans covered in cheese on your plate and tell you to have a great meal. At least these guys didn’t do that but… My pet peeves are Cold Tortilla chips served with something they call Salsa What I would like to see… Either guys jumping off a high dive to distract from this food or, wait for it Heat up the chips, give the salsa some flavor and still serve it with a smile. They are friendly can’t knock em for that. Food Ok I get it, were American most of thought Chi Chi’s was really Mexican, err maybe some of us but Give me something, add some flavor, like knock me out instead i get Carne Asada served with sides, no dice on a roasted chile. Yeah it’s food but i didn’t drive all the away across Wash Park to get food, i came for the game, wanted to get liquored up and eat some good food. 2 out of 3 wasn’t bad, food not so much, it needs help.

Friday night, I could tell that it was a bad idea right away. I tried to buy drinks and the girl acted like she had never seen an out of state ID. She took it into the back and showed it to everyone working, came back and said she couldn’t trust my DL. So I pulled out my Motorcycle Permit from the SAMESTATE. She still wouldn’t serve me and started asking all kinds of personal questions about why I was in the state, if I was visiting or I had moved here, why my DL from 6 years prior had a different address than my moto license… WTF. She never had any intention of serving us, but instead proceeded to dig for information. Completely disrespectful. Ignorant, totalitarian twits. Should be ashamed to call themselves a business.

I only had the sliders and side of green chili. Both are status quo – then again, can’t skid off the road too bad with sliders. Margaritas – with Wineaux in my profile quote… maybe I’m too much of an alcoholic that tequila in medium amounts don’t really phase me. However, my two friends also thought that the tequila was light in our $ 3 house margs Sunday during the Cherry Creek Arts festival. If that was the case due to crowds etc… I’d have to tell Brandon how disappointed I’d be if that were the case. I’d be back to try more of a specialty menu item.

oh wow, I wish I could give them zero stars. And I see I’m not alone. The owner treated us well, smiled and said thank you, hope you come back. But we will not. Our server was completely inept. I think the owner noticed because he yelled at her — right in front of us! The prices are much higher than Chez Jose, the food much smaller, the taste was so generic. I’m saddened to see that Chez is gone, so sad.

We went for drinks on my birthday before our reservation at Hapa. The staff was awesome and friendly and cut off the clearly drunk guy and sent him on his way when a family showed up. That’s pretty stand up. Great selection of beer and wine, and a great place in cheery creek to watch people. I’ll be back once the weather warms up :)

NOTSOHAPPYHOUR. At first, we thought«Great! An Auburn bar in Cherry Creek — this will be great!’. Turns out it was a total sham. First off, we get there and there are two waitresses on duty. For an NFL Sunday playoff day? The service was dismal. It took 15 minutes to get our first beer(not what you want on a game-day jaunt to a bar). Then, we are told that all appetizers are on «special» at $ 4. «Good deal!» we though. ummmmmmmmmmmmmm… no. The Jalapeño poppers, for example, were originally $ 6 and on special for $ 4 — but there were only TWO of them! Apparently, «happy hour specials» mean that everything is four dollars, but only half portions. talk about getting scammed. That means if I would have ordered a full portion, it would have INCREASED the price to $ 8! I called the manager on duty over to ask him about it and he puts on a very patronizing smile and tells me that no one else has a problem with it(incorrect — everyone in my group of 8 did) and that it was probably best i did not come back to the bar if I didn’t like his specials. I politely informed him that the website clearly advertises half off food and drink on Sunday and he actually says to me… wait for it… «SOSUEME». I almost died. What kind of a owner/bartender tells a client to «sue» him for false advertising? Making matters worse, after we found out we were overpaying for half portions, we canceled the orders that hadn’t come out yet. They charged them for them anyway. Apparently, you are unable to cancel or change any orders after they’ve been told to the waitress. Can you imagine? Like I said… worst bar I’ve been to in all of Denver. We left and went to Gov’s in Wash Park and had a great rest of the day.

Absolutely the worst mexican /new-mexican food ever. I felt like I was eating at taco bell, except at least taco bell is priced fair. Everything was bland and generic. Maybe it’s a fun bar scene at night, I’m not sure, but food wise it was crud. I think most of the positive reviews must be written by the owner and wait staff. This place is that bad. Really really bad. Like mexican food in the UK was better than this place bad. We went expecting it might just be a name change on Chez Jose. Ooops. 1:30pm in cherry creek. The place was empty. We should have known. There are much better mexican and new mexican places in Colorado. Also the servers weren’t attentive. Not the worst ever. But we were 1 of 3 tables eating lunch and it took forever.

Dagnabit. We live walking distance and were hoping that we’d finally find a place in Cherry Creek with decent Mexican food. Of course, I should have known better since it is a pub. We went anyway, on a Saturday at lunch, and brought the kiddos. Apparently that was mistake number 1. We walked in and I kid you not the two servers just stared and us — one of them not looking at all happy that we were about to spend some money there. No «hello.» No «Hi! You can sit where you’d like.» Instead we had an awkward stare down for a minute. Then we asked if we seated ourselves. They informed us that we did in fact seat ourselves. Duh. So we did — although we should have left at that point ’cause it was downhill from there. Our server ended up being very sweet but it took her forever to take our order(no it wasn’t busy — probably ¼ or 1⁄3 full) and she could not get our order right to save her life. When we finally received the food there were three mistakes — one we just ignored but two items had to be remade. That suckith. She did apologize for her mistake and was sweet about it. The food was ok — nothing great really, but were it not for the horrible attitudes of the servers at the door and the screwups we’d probably be back. I should note that when two single men walked in grumpy server number one cheered right up and greeted them happily. Lucky boys. I wonder if they got their food in a timely manner with no screw ups. I bet so. Walking distance aside — I won’t be frequenting this place. I’m kinda bummed about it too — had such high hopes.

This place has a lot of TVs. Big flat screened TVs everywhere the eye can see. The bar doesn’t really turn on the lights, which can be exciting when all the TVs fade to black for a station break. The menu is pretty typical for a Denver bar with a heavy lean towards Mexican favorites. They also offer $ 1 tacos on Tuesday, which are pretty decent sized & available in several different types of tortillas. The flavors are fairly unsurprising but not entirely disappointing either. The drinks menu has some cute house specialty cocktails & a fairly good selection of beers. At non-happy hour most of their bottles go for around $ 3 which seems reasonable in Cherry Creek North. I think Brandon’s Pub is a good alternative to the other more established sports bars in the area. It definitely isn’t as crowded, which hopefully will change, because they have a lot of TVs. That can’t be cheap…

My heart sank when I came to Chez Jose today. The charming little mexican eatery with the awesome cookies and the cute little salsa bar, and rickety old furniture has been replaced. Goodbye charm. If you frequent Best Buy on your free time, oogling at flatscreen TVs then this is the place for you. They have about 50 of them. No joke. You can’t just come in and order from the counter. Now they expect you to sit down and be served. Compared to Chez Jose, the food just sucks. I used to go in and get just a side of chicken and a side of beans, and then I’d hit up the salsa bar and dr it up! And for just over $ 4.00. They would hook me up! Sometimes I’d get one of their fresh baked cookies for dessert, they were soooo good. So I ordered a side of chicken and beans to compare, and the portions where tiny, like a third of what I was used to getting. My black beans were replaced with a microwaved scoop of refried beans with a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese…(?) WTF? And the price was $ 7.30. The bar now has a glowing blue light behind the bottles and the employees are typical Cherry Creek, tons of prooduct in their hair, snobby types. I miss my old Chez Jose. How can a place called«Brandons» be expected to serve quality Mexican food? Well, they don’t. They are trying so desperately, like all the other places in Cherry Creek(with the exception of the Cricket) to become this ultra-hipster, uppety, and soooo exciting place to eat. Instead it feels to have been designed by some lethargic marketing interns. They pulled all of the typical marketing tricks and stuffed em inside of a strip mall eatery. Oxy-Moronic. I don’t think this place is going to last. Bad food, expensive prices and ghastly ambiance. I miss you, Chez Jose!!!

Like another reviewer here, we stopped in for a bite to eat and a drink while taking a break from the Cherry Creek Arts Festival. The menu is a bit confused, but sometimes there’s nothing wrong with that. The majority of the menu is Mexican food, there is calamari, wings, and other items you wouldn’t expect on the menu. We shared an order of chicken fajitas, and while that’s pretty impossible to mess up, ours tasted really good. The seasoning on the chicken was really good and all of the side ingredients were fresh. We also really enjoyed their salsa. Check out their cocktail menu — I had a Limosa which was Prosecco, agave, and a splash of fresh lime juice. Their dark and stormy with ginger beer was also refreshing. While I wouldn’t make a special trip here for the food, this is a great spot if you’re in the area for an appetizer, a good deal on a beer, and a great spot to watch sports on their many TVs.

We stopped here to «escape» the Cherry Creek Arts Festival heat and crowds… we were hanging out until the band started on the main stage at 8.(Long day.) We enjoyed 2 dollar coors lights, and ordered a guacamole bowl. Very tasty. The(free) salsa and chips were delish… the chips were fresh ! We weren’t very hungry, and just wanted to relax and get our beer on… so when the hostess approached our table FOUR times to see if we wanted food yet… we became a bit uncomfortable felt pressured to order an entrée’…but we were by no means, hungry. The bill came, and they had charged us twice for the guac… but one of the friendly wait-staff cheerfully took it off our bill. So, aside from the hostesses over ambition to sell us food… it was a good experience. Next time we will try actual food. I promise.

I wasn’t such a fan of this place. It was crowded but people weren’t super friendly. Each table was like a total little island of self-absorbtion. I know it’s just me but I like my bars social and well, social. There was also some Rock Star or Guitar Hero on the big screen, which would have been super fun if patrons could sing and play along — I didn’t get it. The easy street HH wheat was delicious and my orange slice was fruity and juicy. Really made my beer part of the experience grrrreat. On the other hand, our waitress was a little swamped, and I don’t mind if you forget our food order, but when you overhear us talking shit b/c you forgot our food order, ummm buck up and find out what you missed. And it wasn’t that good. sorry I’m not saying I won’t go back, but I’m not racing there with bells on.

Let me be honest here. The sole reason this place is getting 3 stars is because they’ve biggie-sized bottles of Red Stripe. I mean I think extra large sodas are ridiculous, but beers are another matter entirely. And these things were the size of 2 regular red stripes, almost like a 2 liter of beer! Another reason they have 3 stars is because our server was pretty much the nicest girl ever. She was funny and capable and cool. All good qualities and kind of unexpected. Let’s also be honest here and say a space this size really doesn’t need 13 flat screen TVs, do they? I mean I couldn’t not watch television unless I closed my eyes. I know it’s a sports bar and all, but how about some room where we can play bar sports like pool or darts without everyone turning into zombies because the magic box is on. The bar is where La Dolce Vita used to be, which is sad in itself. But, it was pretty busy considering it’s a new place and it was a Monday night when I went. By the way there was a poker tournament going on that had a lot of players if you’re looking for a place to play that sort of game.
