Bistro Provencal

Delicious little French restaurant. The ambiance and décor were really nice; it has an open but cozy feel, along with some modern-​rustic charm. With the French music playing in the background, I’d have to say this is a great spot.
Food and service were really good as well! I had the Monte Carlo waffle and it was gooood. Nice buttery crunch to the waffle without any sogginess.
My husband had the lasagna and I think we’d both come back for that. The meat used in it was really tasty!
I had a vanilla doughnut for desert and it was also good. No complaints about anything!
Lastly, we had our 8 month son with us and our server brought him some toys to play with which was very thoughtful of her.

The food was marginal the first time I went to get take out. It was a Sunday and it seemed as if the quiche (and some other savory pastry thing) had been pre-​made and reheated for the weekend customers. However, I did get a 15% «neighborhood» discount which was very nice. Then, I went to Bistro Provencal last evening with a friend of mine. The bartender seemed intimidated by a woman sitting in the corner with a Microsoft Surface laptop. I believe she may have been a manger. The laptop woman seemed a bit put off that my friend and i were sitting at the bar laughing and talking and generally having a good time. Take note, here we were ordering drinks but no food as it was later in the evening– so we were lively, paying customers.
Another unpleasant thing was the fact that Musak Jazz was playing — a horrifying version of Man in the Mirror. The bartender did change the music after I requested a change. Once again, I got a feeling that laptop lady was not happy.
When i got the check, i saw that the 15% neighbor’s discount was not applied and I asked for the discount. The bartender asked «Are you a neighbor?» and i indicated that i lived in denver and my mother actually lived at Balfour, the independent living apartments a half a block away, and that she had been in recently. The bartender said that i did not qualify as a neighbor, and neither did my friend as he was from out of town (which we mentioned as a joke). Oh, OK.
Since it is me and my family who get my mother over to that set of restaurants and i don’t qualify as a neighbor we won’t be going to this place again. It seems as if given the fact this place is empty even on Fridays and Saturdays it won’t last long. Guessing closed for business by oh, say, March 31, 2016? Good luck to you doomed Bistro Provencal!

The food was delicious and although there was only one woman working the bar/​serving, the service was completely exceptional. I’ve never seen many people here and can’t figure out why. I had French onion soup and the lasagna and both were fantastic. Unfortunately I was too full for dessert but everything looked great! I will be back.

This place is a hidden gem. The food is amazing, and the service was great. I started with salmon tartar and the soup of the day. Loved both. For my entrée I chose the seafood pastry. I enjoyed everything thoroughly. For dessert, we ordered the bananas foster. This was the BEST part of the meal… It comes crêpe style and it is truly fantastic. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Vegetarian ratatouille quiche is delicious! It’s also fun to say the word ratatouille. I’ve been ordering to go since they opened. My only gripe is the French Onion Soup is beef based and I wish they had more veggie options. It’s a cute café with reasonable prices, and a great location.

4 and ½ stars, an injustice to round it down. Dined Thursday evening, a welcome new alternative to typical Denver casual fare. True bistro, appealing urban décor, good location, street parking easy. Server Alex, knowledgable, attentive, made sure he got our selections in the right order (see a previous reviewer). We shared our choices, all portions generous. Starter, a warming cup of clam chowder, tasty French style fish broth with corn and ample clam meat. Entrée, the Fruits de Mer in puff pastry, along with the Tomato Mozz salad, both served plated in halves for us — thanks. Delicate. irresistible pastry loaded with fish and shellfish. Only off was the salad, tomatoes being out of season, served with cherry tomatoes. Suggest keep it seasonal, or use red ripe hothouse tomato slices. Lots of fresh mozzarella and nice balsamic dressing. Dessert, Nutella Crêpe, chantilly style with vanilla bean ice cream and poufs of whipped cream. Heavenly! Would have preferred a cup of brewed coffee with dessert rather than espresso or Americano. But for espresso lovers, a true European style espresso bar.

Great new neighborhood place! The soup is amazing as well as the filet mignon dish. Nice wine selection and happy hour as well. They are giving 15% discount cards to those of us who are neighbors!

Pros: Great location. Attractive menu & prices. Good food, and tasty (some items apparently subject to availability). Friendly attentive staff. Clean restrooms. Nice, quiet dining room, not fancy. Great background music, no TV — yeah! What appears to be an adequate bar (we didn’t order drinks…).
(Our order this time: The quiche was really good, so was the onion soup (not overly salted), so was their version of caprese.) Attractive plating.
Cons: Food not brought out in the proper order (quiche before soup). Had to ask for bread (on the other hand, when it did come — after our meal — a healthy portion of herbed olive oil).
Overall: A pleasant mid-​afternoon experience. We look forward to the timing of the kitchen improving (the staff seems willing, and this is a very good thing), and dining again at the bistro.

The ambiance and the waiter was nice, but the brunch food was really bad.
They didn’t have the mix for one of the items we ordered so we had had to revert to the crepes (which they messed up the first time and gave to another table). When the food did finally come, it tasted like it had been thawed in the microwave. The crêpe was chewy and the fruit was not fresh and I had to ask for a side of syrup for the waffle to make it somewhat palatable.
It’s a relatively new restaurant so hopefully these are growing pains, but it’s unlikely we’ll try it again to find out.

We stumbled across this bistro after a long walk along the river. So delighted that we stopped for a bite & a cocktail. It’s only been opened for a few weeks. Everything we enjoyed was crafted to perfection from the drinks to the French onion soup, to the quiche & more. If you appreciate true the bistro style, you’d be amiss to not try this sweet new find.
