I have a love hate relationship with the Big Fat Cupcake kiosk in my building and they truly live up to their name(they are HUGE). The staff are always really friendly, not to mention that the owner, Kathleen, is super nice. The cupcakes are so good that I have had to limit my purchase and intake of them to only be a Friday treat. They have so many delicious and unique flavors: Host-Yes, Red Velvet, the ever changing Bread Pudding which has been my go-to lately, that is until I tried the Boston Cream Pie! Oh. My. God. I have to say this cupcake was beyond delicious and truly changed my outlook on the possibility of cupcake creations! Because of their large size, I normally cut them in half and eat one half and freeze the other(they keep well in the freezer, so long as they don’t have a filling), but I began eating this one and could not stop, so good! I recommend everyone give Big Fat Cupcake a try, especially if you want to have your mind blown from how yummy these mini cakes are.

A big, fat outpost. Recently, Big Fat Cupcake opened a kiosk in the lobby of the Denver Place building. I was hesitent to try it, however. In the past, the cupcake rage hasn’t really done it for me. The cupcakes would be overpriced for the size you would get and typically, not that tasty. One day, a co-worker of mine convinced me to go give them a try. i was glad I did. Before writing this review, I glanced at the reviews for the main store located in Cherry Creek and they were all over the place. In my opinion, this is due to the fact that the greatness of the cupcake varies from option to option. Let me give you a piece of advice, the best cupcakes are going to be the ones that have a filling in the middle. It gives the cupcake that extra bit of «oomph» that takes it from«oh, this is a pretty good cupcake» to «wow, this cupcake is a top 5 in my life cupcake.» With that in mind, here’s my shortlist for favorite cupcakes: 1. The banana cupcake with nutella frosting(this was a «bread pudding» option that is not available every day) 2. The Orange Dreamsicle. It really does taste like a dreamsicle in cupcake form. 3. Chocolate Peanutbutter Other cupcakes I’ve tried haven’t been quite as good, but hey, no one is perfect. Here are a few other tips: 1. Share your cupcake. They are on the large sign and you don’t feel as bad about yourself for eating a cupcake if someone is splitting it with you. 2. Day-old cupcakes are half price. If you want to try a few different options, this is a good way to go. 3. There is a cupcake happy hour. You can buy 2 get 1 free from 5 – 6 pm Big Fat Cupcake is a welcome addition to Denver Place, and I’m hoping that they succeed. Give them a shot and you won’t be disappointed.
