I’m not sure why this place has such bad reviews. The owner is a sweetheart! He not only opened a few minutes early for me, but he also helped me pick out the best purple shampoo to fix a brass mishap. He’s been doing hair since he was 19, so he knows what he’s talking about. While in the store, a random customer came in and saw us talking about one of the products. Without missing a beat, she told me she has been using it for years and comes here because they’re one of the only ones to carry it in stock! BONUS: They’re the cheapest beauty supplier I have ever been to for top of the line hair care!

I’m not surprised to read all of these other horrible reviews. Order your products online or on amazon!!! The male owner of this beauty supply called my mother a bad name for asking a simple question. I immediately stated how rude that was to talk to a customer that way. He then proceeded to let us know he is a «multi millionaire» and didn’t need our business. I again told him again how rude and awful he was and he made a derogatory comment about how I look… I am 9 months pregnant and due to have my baby tomorrow. I have lived in Cherry Creek North for almost 10 years and have NEVER experienced anything close to this. Buyers Beware!!!

I have been coming to this shop for years, but only for specific items that I have trouble finding elsewhere. The prices are steep, but generally I’ve been willing to pay a few extra bucks for the convenience of not having to find items online and deal with shipping charges and long delivery times. The items I shop at BeautySmart for most often are O.P.I. polishes — they have an extensive selection — Solar Oil, nail files, and Bain de Terre Anti-Frizz Shine Serum. O.P.I. is the only brand of polish I will use, and until the last few years, it wasn’t always easy to find it. I needed a bottle of Top Coat and some files, so I stopped by BeautySmart on my way to Bed Bath & Beyond for a potato ricer(not gonna tolerate lumps this Turkey Day!). I mentioned their extensive selection, and that goes for everything in the store, not just O.P.I. I got my Top Coat($ 10-something; I can’t say for sure because their tiny receipts aren’t itemized) and files and that was that! At Bed Bath & Beyond I saw they are now carrying O.P.I. I didn’t look at the prices, but I don’t think O.P.I. is drastically cheap anywhere. However, now that I know BB&B stocks it, I’ll likely get it there using a 20% off coupon. As far as the Solar Oil and hair serum, I have Amazon Prime now, so I’ve been buying that online with free two-day shipping. I’ve dealt with the owner/manager many, many times; I’m fairly certain he used to own and/or manage the long-closed location at Broadway & Alameda. He’s always been very nice and helpful to me. I will say that in this location as with the previous location, when you’re in the shop, the sense that you’re being watched very very carefully is more than palpable. However, I’m not going to judge or feel insulted by it, I’m just diligent about keeping my hands out of my pockets and my purse. I have no experience being a small business owner with a large stock of items, more than half of which could be concealed in one’s closed fist. It’s hard to blame an owner or his employees for having a vested interest in protecting their inventory. I think I’ve only really had experience with two other employees, and both were very nice and helpful. Since I’ve now found alternative purchase options, I probably won’t frequent BeautySmart as often in the future, but that’s not necessarily a strike against the shop, the employees, the products or their prices, but even when/if Cherry Creek becomes(God-willing!) a construction-free zone, the traffic is a bitch on a good day.

If you are looking for the old stylist, Amanda Vant Hul, she has moved to bigger and better things at Pulse Hair Salon in Washington Park, . The owner at Beauty Smart has been telling clients that she isn’t doing hair anymore, that is not true, she does great hair still, glad I found her at the new place. As far as this Beauty Smart, don’t waste your money on a grumpy old man who sells past due product and equipment, and treats employees and customers like sub humans and is obviously a liar.

I really don’t get all of the hate for this place. I can get hair product here for what it costs on eBay without any of the sketchiness of eBay. They are always welcoming when I go in, and the lady there recognizes me now: that’s notable because I live 900 miles away and come in about once a year to stock up before I go home! I don’t know what some of these people are expecting, but I have had great experiences here.

This place is extremely over priced and the woman who works there has a big attitude, and I’m not sure why. Save yourself the trouble and either go somewhere else or order your product online. Also, definitely don’t walk in with you kid if you have one. I have a very well behaved daughter and the saleswoman made it very clear kids are NOT welcome.

I would have to agree, the prices for some products are high… but there are some products there that are priced awesome! The variety is fabulous too. But definitely do your homework before going there. I have gone there twice and bought the bulk shampoos there. First time I got a *great* deal on my Pureology and Morroccan Oil shampoos and conditioners. Second visit I passed on the Morroccan Oil products since they had increased their prices way too much on the same product significantly since my first visit. I still will go back though because it is fun to see all of the different choices available for items I may be looking for(e.g. their brush selection is incredible).

The sign outside says«Beauty Supply — Open To The Public.» What I would like to add to the sign is «Open To The Public For Rip-offs.» Here’s why. I have been in the store from time time over the last 15 years, bought a Hot Tools curling iron, Seche Vite top coat — even had my hair cut and styled by the owner once upon a time when I was between coiffeurs. I visited the store this week to look at lash and brow tint/dye. The list price for the brown Roux dye was $ 49.99. Now, mind you, I have purchased this product in the past at Sally Beauty Supply and I thought the price seemed steep, but I was in a rush, so I bought it. The long-time female employee rang me up and was quite chatty about some other products she likes. The product works great, by the way, and I used it that night. The next day I got a hankering to comparison shop on Sally Beauty Supply’s website. Guess what? I done got ripped off! Sally sells this product to the public for $ 36.99! I called the store and spoke with the long-time female employee — who was yes, ringing up a customer and trying to handle my call simultaneously(ugh…bad idea, very bad idea, because I was already upset). When I started the conversation, I asked if the owner would consider competitive pricing against Sally Beauty Supply. Then I filled her in on my situation. She stated that Sally Beauty Supply is able to buy the product in bulk and Beauty Smart orders maybe 12 of the product at one time. I told her the $ 13 price difference is a horrendous mark-up to pass on to their customers. She didn’t say anything to make me feel better. At that point, I said, «I will buy from Sally the next time I buy this product.» Then, even further enraged, I said, «In fact, I will never shop in your store again and I will post this experience on Unilocal.» She didn’t seem to care, didn’t offer to take my information and have the owner return my call. BUYERSBEWARE. Be sure you shop competitively if saving money is important to you. This place is a rip-off! Good riddance.

I shop at Beauty Smart for some specific items that my hairdresser no longer sells, namely Pureology Shampoo and Conditioner(which they carry in all sizes, including the little travel sizes) and Paul Mitchell styling liquid. I sometimes purchase OPI nail polish here too since they have several colors. I have comparison shopped for blow dryers and brushes also but the prices on those items were too expensive. Over all, the store’s selection is vast and they seem to have everything you need in the way of beauty products and styling tools and accessories. There are always boxes all over the floor so I assume that means they keep lots of items in stock. The owner is always very nice and helpful, the Cherry Creek location is convenient, and parking is free.

This supply store had a pretty good selection, but the problem is that the prices are very expensive for their beauty styling tools and THEYHAVE A NORETURNPOLICY… so I would RECOMMENDTO shop around before you buy something at this store. Unfortunately, I was in a rush to replace my hot rollers and didn’t check the on line prices until after I got the product home. To my surprise… and disappointment, I found the save item I purchased available from several on line vendors that offered the same product for 50% cheaper.
