Some of the meanest and most unhelpful people I have come across. Especially the lady checking out. My business is always going elsewhere … Do your self a favor and avoid this trashy place like the plague

I usually focus on restaurant reviews but I’m switching gears! I walked into ACE at 8:30am to have a key cut. Immediately after walking in I was greeted and asked how they could help. The cashier pointed me in the right direction and then I overheard a walkie-talkie type message go to the department to let them know I was on my way. A customer was at the counter being helped but a kind woman came around to assist me. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. Everyone was so kind and the process smooth and efficient.

A much more knowledgeable staff than the big box stores. They seem to really want to dig into the problem and solve it for you. Then there’s the free popcorn.

Sadly, I have to give one star. I have patronized this location for years and it has recently gone down hill. I am in the market for a Weber grill and pretty much knew which model I wanted. The grill is around 500 dollars an I have tried to purchase this model at this location on two separate occasions. I can never find anyone to help me at this store, maybe they don’t sell many grills in the winter months or maybe I am invisible? The only grills they had on the floor were the demo models, if they don’t have enough sales people they should put grills in their boxes on the floor so customers can grab and take to the cash register. None the less, I came into ACE over Home Depot as I wanted to patronize local ownership. I will be taking the dreaded trip to Home Depot tomorrow to purchase this grill.

Unfortunately, not a great experience in ACE hardware. Ace was NOT the place with a helpful hardware man. I went in looking for potting soil, a planter, and a paint pen for marking my trash bin. First, the selection was terrible for both the the potting soil and the planter. I asked about a paint pen for writing on plastic. The woman named PATTI pretty much lambasted me and made me feel reel dum for asking«We don’t have anything like that here», and not in a nice way. I left. I vowed to never go back.

a great place with great staff. Many items, from soup to nuts. I especially like the staff, not everyone knows everything but between them all, there is a world of experience and knowledge… Ace is a local owned«chain», each store is locally owned. I like that. I read some negative reviews here from those who have had an unfortunate experience here and used it to slam the store. I am sure that the owners here have read and responded to these concerns. Why? Because that is the type of folks they are, it is not a perfect world, mistakes are made, people have bad days, including customer service folks… I know I have a bad day once… in …every…100 years… but…who’s counting?

Right across the street. They’ve had everything I needed in stock except for the time they had to order an internal torchiere dimmer switch, which took over a week to come in. You can even find some bizarre things here you wouldn’t expect… like movie theater candy like mini Twix bars, Milk Duds and the like for a buck a box. Beats shelling out theater hyperinflated prices. Or jars of local honey from various apiaries around Colorado. Quirky bumper stickers/sports pennants. With the exception of 1 asshat jr flunkie who tried repeatedly to steer me towards the wrong items after I specifically told him exactly what I wanted(and then went off to desert me and help another customer; only to return after I’d requested the help of a more sr. associate), the help there has been pretty polite and consistent. I’d say they lean slightly towards the«gravitating towards you» aspect versus the«waiting until you look lost» or beelining directly towards someone. It’s not too horrible though. It’s useful for about 80−90% of the stuff I’d just as soon go to Home Depot or Lowes for, and a heck of a lot closer.

I’ve given this review about a month to simmer. I didn’t want to post in anger, or in haste. And, I still do not consider this a resolved issue. This was our second stop into Ace Hardware looking for propane. The first location didn’t have that service, but I won’t fault these guys for the other location’s inability to provide that service. However, I do not like to give out 1-star reviews if I can help it. In this situation, I cannot help it. Because of this Ace Hardware, I will never, EVER, EVER shop at an Ace Hardware store again. If I am stuck in a small town needing some tool or item that only an ACE can provide, I’ll go without or walk to the next town. So, why such negativity? Let me tell you… I had an «ACE» coupon for a 20% discount on propane refills. Normally, I’d just swing by a Home Depot or maybe even a Lowes. But, with a nice coupon, I thought, hey why not try out ACE. Well, the coupon we received in the mail was for two other locations way north of where we live. In fact, there are three ACE stores closer to our address than the ones we got on the mailer. I figured, ACE is ACE, they’ll accept a coupon with THEIR m-fing name on it. However, that is not the case. They will not accept their own company’s coupon, unless it is specific to that store. In this day and age that is a complete failure on the customer service front. I’ll go into this more below. Back to this location and this visit. I had to pull around back to get the propane filled, and I left my wife to pay up front. I got my two tanks filled and started to load them up when I see my wife come out the back door visibly upset. I ask her whats wrong and she tells me that they wouldn’t accept the coupon, period. And, on top of that, the salesperson at the front desk made her feel an inch tall. I can usually put up with bad customer service and move on, never visiting again. But, when my wife gets mistreated to the point where she is visibly upset and on the verge of tears… oh you just pushed my «pissed the F-OFF button.» So, I go back inside to speak with a manager. OK Joe, take a deep breath, don’t get upset with anyone. Figure out why, and figure out why my wife was mistreated. So, what I got was a greasy haired fairly older, fairly unhelpful man with salt and pepper colored hair. Shame on me for not getting his name. I asked for a manager and he said he himself was a manager. This guy was was eating a blueberry bagel dropping crumbs on the ground and on his red vest. It was an image that was pretty sad and definitely burned into my memory. I asked for a manager, but I got a scrub. I clearly was not dealing with a man who made big decisions there. So, I asked first if he could help me with my problem. Could I get the 20% off? The eventual answer I got was, no, because it is not a coupon for their store. I asked for the store manager’s contact information and I plan to see him, probably this evening. His name is Greg. Again I told myself to give it a month to simmer to see if I really am as upset as I was. The answer is yep. I don’t even care about the $ 8 I would have saved. I care about the inability of an ACE hardware store to honor a coupon with their BLEEPING name on it for another store 5 miles away. Once my tanks were filled, I couldn’t just un-fill them, the transaction was done. I couldn’t return my purchase. That bothers me immensely. So, I figured I would see how many competitors would honor their coupon. I didn’t find a single competitor who refused their coupon. Without listing the 5 – 6 business I visited locally, not a single store refused to honor their competitor’s coupon. Yet, this ACE would not accept a coupon with their name on it from a different store. I even asked if they had a similar mailer that they could kindly scan for me. Nothing. This is the type of service and customer service that signals to me that this place has no idea what they’re doing. I had two interactions with ACE stores in about an hour and neither visit gives me any reason to ever do business with them again.

In the past, I would always choose a neighborhood Ace over a Home Depot or Lowes. That is, until I met Miss Personality, Donna. Honestly, her level of excitement to be working in the customer service industry is comparable only to that of the fictional character Eeyore. For her to even say«Thank You» would be too much to ask. We bought two wasp catcher bags earlier this summer. We opened, hung, & used one. Not one dead wasp later, I decided to return the unopened catcher. After processing my return, I was reminded by my best bud Donna that I was beyond the 30 day return timeframe but she did it anyway because I had my receipt. I had to bite my tongue not to ask for a full refund of both purchases & decided never to shop at Ace again instead.

I came into Ace for a pretty random purchase. Not long ago, someone stole my license plates(yes, really) while I was in the grocery store. They also took the screws for one of them. As a result, I’ve had to display my front plate under my windshield. I figured it was time to move it to the right place, so I stopped in hoping to find license plate screws. I asked the cashier up front where to find them, and she told me the exact aisle to find them. That was nice, because this place is actually pretty sizable. I ended up finding a solid but cheap set of screws that included a little wrench that makes it so you need that particular tool to unscrew them, and not just a flathead screwdriver. A good call after the incident. In any case, I was impressed with this place. They’ve got a lot of hardware, plus some gardening/home stuff. The staff is super nice and helpful. The next time I need any of those things, I’ll come back here.

All the Ace hardware stores are great & have super friendly staff. I like this one for its organized layout & great deals. It never seems super busy & they are always willing to suggest solutions to my wacky quandaries. Also, ace has a rewards program, dig it!
