A and M Alterations

A and M saved me! I was asked to be a bridesmaid, ordered the dress (nonrefundable) … and then I found out I was pregnant. The dress came in just a week before the wedding and no surprise, it didn’t fit any more! (who knew your RIBS can expand when you’re pregnant?!)
A and M was able to let my dress out, within the fast turn around time I needed… and it was something like $ 30 to do it. I was floored. The work was quality and the service was delightful.

She did a good job with four jeans I took in but I took in a pair of Brunello Cucinelli jeans and she made the crotch area too tight to the point that it looked like I had a visible wegi. What really bothered me was that she claimed they looked fine when in fact my crotch couldn’t breath and it felt like I was going to neuter myself if I did a squat. The jeans made me look ridiculous. Had she admitted to a simple «awshit» then I would have labeled this tragedy as an «accident» which I get it it happens sometimes, no big deal.
I can’t really blame her as she looked overworked and tired judging by the enormous pile of clothing she had in the back. I would be happy to pay three times more if she actually took her time. Better than losing a pair of $ 600 jeans.
I also took in 2 shirts to have the sleeves shortened, the shirts were returned with the sleeves twisted. A&M quickly fixed the problem but the sleeves were still slightly twisted. She convinced me that it’s just how the shirts were made, that was until I took the shirts to a much more expensive tailor who pointed out the sleeves were indeed poorly sewn on. He charged two times what A&M charged me but he made my really expensive shirts look like very expensive shirts and not like some shirts that came out defective from the assembly line. Sadly the jeans couldn’t be saved.
UPDATE: I took in two shirts which which A&M altered just to see if they could be made a slight slimmer to fit my frame. A&M said there was nothing that could be done to make a shirt fit just a tad bit better from sides. It’s called SHIRT DARTS!!! You should know this! A&M told me that one of my shirts was beyond altering due to a size issue but I took an over sized shirt to another tailor and he made it fit great. A&M you made me give away a $ 600 Salvatorre shirt which yea it’s really my fault for not returning it back on time but still you could have told me what an experienced tailor would tell their clients instead of just skipping the shirt because it was «tricky», not cool.

Thank goodness for the owner of this place! We were in need of some last-​minute alterations for an important business meeting and she delivered!
I watched her as she took to the over-​sized suit with her nimble, pin filled fingers. She managed to make a big, sack of a suit into a fitted, stylish one in minutes just with the pinning. When we came back, she was very happy with how the pants turned out but wanted to take in the jacket a bit more even though we thought it looked really good. She seems like a perfectionist and I appreciate that in a clothing alterer. She said she has been altering clothing all her life and it shows.

Needed to find a new tailor closer to home and so far this place has been perfect. I brought in about 5 pairs of pants/​slacks that needed to be taken in or hemmed. The whole bunch were ready within a week and not too expensive at all. Shortly after I brought in a pair of suits that I needed ready for a vegas trip and she was able to take care of me on short notice (I think 3 days) and everything was perfect.

I had some last minute alterations required, and every other place I called said they couldn’t do it. These folks said no problem, and the owner did an awesome job! She is clearly a perfectionist, and will not let you leave without a perfect fit. I will be back!

My suit was never tailored after paying $ 60.00. I had a sports jacket «tailored» and when I went to pick it up it was the same fit. There was no work done on it. When I held the owner accountable she said it was my fault for agreeing with her original measurement and said she would «fix it» but I would have to be charged again.

This place is fantastic! The alterations lady does exactly as I request and at a very fair price. Quick turn around too!

I take my pants here to be hemmed, quick service and cheap prices.

Love this lady! I dropped two pairs of pants off on Monday for a little TLC and she told me they would be done Thursday morning. I got called out of town last minute called and asked if she could get them to me Tuesday evening. She did! They look great.

I had never been here, and took a chance simply based on reviews. Glad I did! I took a winter coat in to have some of the seams repaired. It was only $ 10 for stitching in two different places, and only took a few days. But, I went to pick it up today and looked it over as I paid, and one of the repaired seams was still a bit torn. I didn’t even have to say anything, the women behind the counter saw it and shook her head, asking if I can wait while they quickly fixed it. I thought that was so admirable that I didn’t even mind waiting the extra 5 minutes. I asked for her name afterward to know who to thank, so if you ever go in, ask for Mia and you know it will be done right!

The staff is great. No doubt about it. And they were fantastic about getting my clothes in fast. But I have had to take my pants back three times because they were not right. They still charged me. I do like the place though and I will likely go back. That is why I gave them a four!

I posted a picture of my RUINED WEDDING DRESS up above. It’s simple really… I went into A&M because id been here before. My dress just needed to be hemmed like a couple inches up… Easy right? No, she marked my 3 thousand dollar silk dress with a type of chalk without me even knowing what she was doing. I knew she was not capable of the job very quickly and left with my dress. No big deal… I take my dress, go about my day and show up at wedding seamstress and when we take my dress out of the bag and I’m in it — every knowledgeable seamstress in the room gasps! I’m like what? It’s just chalk trying to dust it off and they all say no! That’s not coming out. They tried for over an hour to get the stuff out of my dress and on top of that there’s 4 very distinct snags that run up and down my dress where she pinned it up. In the end they give me the option to go low hi only… I had already decided I wanted a long dress and when I realized that lowhi was my only option I burst into tears. I left my dress with them to «fix» and go back to A&M and tell her what’s going on. This woman refused to even try to sympathize with me when I confronted her. She YELLED AND SCREAMED AT ME! Telling me she doesn’t know me or what dress I’m talking about… What? I’m sorry, is this your wedding dress? It’s really unfortunate because I was taking pictures and video the whole time she was marking my dress (little did I know) and this will come in handy when I take her to court. If she would have talked to me I’m sure we could work something out. She went so psycho on me I’m not sure I feel like going in to work with her again. Shame shame… PSA: I guess you can’t even have another tailor look at your dress without running a risk! Beware!

Found A&M on Unilocal and decided to try them because they were well rated and close by. Let me tell you they are awesome! I have been there a few times now with arm loads of pants, dresses and a jumper-​style outfits and super team A&M hasn’t let me down! I’ve had pants hemmed, a bandeau top tightened, a zipper on pants replaced and a dress completely altered! All fit perfectly. I am very happy with A&M and have committed to making it my neighborhood place for alterations done right and in a timely fashion and at a fair price! A big thanks to previous Unilocalers who set me up good!

I want to give Mia more stars but I have had too many strikes against her. For easy hems even jacket tailoring, this place is great for the price. For more difficult items, search elsewhere. I had a 60’s vintage swing dress that I bought for a costume and loved. It was probably custom made and had too much room in the bust. I understand that it was not going to be easy fix. I was not expecting that the dress would change shape, from a line to fit and flare, and its a mini dress, so now I can’t bend over. Another time I brought a complicated black tie bridesmaid dress in to be taken in. She said she would not be able to alter it. Glad she told me outright, but then I had to find another tailor.

Boo … 1 out of my 2 experiences here was bad :(I brought in a pair of jeans that had no zipper in them … All I wanted was a zipper added but the seamstress was clueless? I’m going down the street where they assured me a zipper is no big deal. Not sure if the lady behind the counter was just having a bad day but in any case leave the moodiness at home.

Did a great job on a few suit pants. Prices are very reasonable. Got my pants done next day. I will be back.

I came to A &M for a complicated dress alteration– it was done perfectly! Loved the work. Meticulous attention to detail. Came back here for another zipper replacement and a hem job– perfect work… No complaints, reasonable cost for a job well done! They are also really fast — had my dress done in two days and it was a lot of work… This will definitely be my go to place for alterations from now on!

Brought in a suit to be tailored based upon the overwhelmingly positive reviews on Unilocal.
I found the owner/​operator to be initially friendly but when I came back for my suit, the jacket was way too tight, and the pants about an inch too short. When I brought this up, she dismissed it and said it looked fine. When I got home, I realized the seam she created on the rear of the jacket was uneven and lumpy. Ended up going to another tailor in Boulder where they made everything perfect. Wasted about $ 45 here and won’t be going back.

Inexpensive, quick, high quality work. They did my wedding pants that had a complicated flowy wavy hem and slits, without any issues whatsoever.

Totally a little gem that I hope no one else finds out about.
