A slice of pickle and cheese. Two slices of bread and ham. A bag of chips. $ 7.50. I don’t like half the cost of my food going towards subsidizing their nice décor.

Ever seen that map of Texas that defines the areas of Texas into stereotypes? You know, where the word«Austin» should be it says«hippies». And instead of «San Antonio» it says«Mexico». Where it should read Dallas it says«soulless rich people»; well Café Du Luxe is one of those places I think that embodies that Dallas stereotype. Like some people that have memberships to Dallas Country Clubs, the outside is dressed to the nines but once you get to the core of it all, well it’s missing the soul. For instance, it’s very nice on the outside and inside of the establishment, that’s good! Plenty of seating and a clean interior. However, there was some art hung on the wall for prices I don’t think anyone in this area would fork over the money to buy. This also made Café Du Luxe seem out of place. So now we go to what the place is in existence for, the food! The soul of any eatery! Right? Well, you’d think. First off, the food was good but it most certainly wasn’t anything special. I had a ham sandwich with Swiss and my friend had the Cuban. Again, OK but not special. It wasn’t food that was so good that I’d want to come back again for. What really tipped the scale for me was the side items. Café Du Luxe’s side item choice is only 2 things and they had nothing to do with the making of them: Baked Lays or Sun Chips. So really? I paid $ 7 for a sandwich I could make at home and chips from the same bag I buy at Walmart each week? Like I said, the food was good but it wasn’t special. And if you’re going to charge $ 7 I’d like to see some effort in the side items instead of the easy way out of bagged chips. Café Du Luxe reminds me of typical North Texas– Dallas style: on the outside all fancy and inviting, but once you experience the inside, there’s no soul!

The food and drink are consistently good, but the main reason I visit Café Du Luxe is for client meetings. The atmosphere is perfect for meeting with clients outside of the office. A good selection of entrees, desserts, coffees, and appetizers are all tasty. It’s not too loud, and the décor is elegant and stylish. There are two leather love seats and a glass top coffee table in a nook toward the back that will accommodate four to six people, but I wouldn’t meet with more than four here. It’s the perfect spot for a small meeting.

When you’re looking for a great place to eat, drink coffee, or just hang out with old friends, Café Du Luxe is the place to go. Café Du Luxe has some of the best Sandwiches and Lattes in town. My wife love this place not only based on the quality of the food and coffee, but it also really embodies the spirit of Denton’s artsy personality with Jazz music playing over a great sound system while you dine, live music on Saturdays, and local artwork available for purchase. My wife and I have visited twice to date and left satisfied each time. Pro’s Food– Great sandwiches(The Cuban is my favorite) and salads. Coffees are amazing as well. Environment– I love the calm atmosphere and jazz music coupled with the local artwork for sale. The open layout of the room is perfect for socializing with old friends. Things they could work on Food– As great as the food is, they should really add some combos. Except for Sandwiches and chips, everything seems to be a la carte. I personally dislike chips with my sandwich and would prefer to eat my sandwich with soup. Panera Bread, Mcalisters, and others offer something similar to this(half soup and half sandwich), and Café Du Luxe could really improve their experience if they offered such options. At the very least, they could allow you to sub the chips with soup if you don’t want chips. Maybe I’m just quirky, but that’s my two cents for what it’s worth.

I dig it! This place is a little more swanky than other places in Denton. I’m not snobby about interior, but it’s a nice change. It’s a cute casual date spot and I could also see it as a place to get together with your girl friends. The place is clean, modern, and spacious. Happy hour prices are good at half off, but other wise they are a little overpriced for Denton. The sandwiches and appetizers are all good, but it’s nothing that special. But the quality is there I guess. love the smoked salmon here… but they gave me almost half the portion when I ordered take out from here so I wasn’t happy about that. I personally had trouble paying when my card won’t go through couple of times, but when they tried another machine, it worked most of the time. If you want to save yourself some trouble, bring cash. Service is decent for the most part, but it can be better. They just do the minimum, and sometimes they aren’t too friendly. I was thinking about giving three stars only, but the cheesecake and the carrot cake is absolutely divine. They definitely don’t skimp on quality on these. The cheesecake is dense so if you like fluffy cheesecakes, you might not like them as much. The cupcakes are huge but I’ve had better. I like this place a lot, but I don’t find myself dying to go back either. Give this place a try and see for yourself though.

Best Americano in town. Pretty decent happy hour prices for food and drink. I’m intrigued to try more of their appetizers. The atmosphere isn’t my favorite as it’s more sterile than I would like and the muzak doesn’t do them any favors. However, the artwork on the walls is beautiful and loans the place depth. Sit in the leather chairs if you can, they’re awesome. The waitstaff has been friendly and helpful most of the time. I’m not sure how to pronounce the name. Since my wife loves it, I’m sure we’ll be back. If you’re into coffee shops, you should give it a shot.

I hate to write a bad review, but I got bad service. I guess that colors everything because then I thought the food wasn’t that great either. I was overcharged. When I noticed and brought it to their attention, their attitude made it seem like they didn’t care and couldn’t be bothered. They justified it saying they had given me 2 large soups(their menu only showed one price and they didn’t make the distinction when I was ordering). They did not even offer an apology. And when I got home and opened my take-out bag it was clearly 2 small soups. 8 ounces is still a cup, right? I won’t be back and I won’t recommend it. I don’t like that attitude when it would have been so easy to double check what they gave me and adjust the price or offer an apology or something. You have to do better than that when there are so many other great options. I’m really sorry, Café Du Luxe, but I will be telling others. Up your service level, and drop the attitude, please.

This is a great place for a quiet cup of really good coffee, glass of wine, or a slice of the best carrot cake you’ll ever have

Great place for pretty much anything your heart desires. They have exceptional hot coffee, and good teas as well as breakfast in the morning, in fact there is even a drive through if you are in a rush. During the day, you have multiple options for lunch, and at night there is great wine, and tapas. Some times even some great live music. If you have not been to this neighborhood gem yet, you are really missing out!

I really don’t have anything bad to say for Café Du Luxe. The staff is always amazingly friendly, the sandwiches for lunch are great, and the coffee is wonderful. I wish I didn’t spend so much money her each week.

Café Du Luxe is the best place in Denton for a lovely ladies night. I have frequented this café for dates with my hubby and group meetings with my best girls and the folks at Café Du Luxe have made sure that every time was perfect. Their happy hour makes the appetizers very affordable and I honestly just love having their bruschetta for dinner by itself. It’s garlicky, tomato-basily deliciousness. I’m no coffee snob but the coffee and latte art at Café Du Luxe has been beyond satisfying for my tastes and the atmosphere is classy, casual, hip, and comfortable. It’s great for a night on the town with your love or your friends. Definitely worth a trip!

I have to give Café Du Luxe 5 stars because of the amazing– AMAZING desserts! If you have never been here, you are missing out. I discovered this place recently and now whenever my boyfriend and I visit we can’t help but be saddened that it isn’t busier. The atmosphere is great and while the staff may not be amazing, they are helpful and happy to serve. The first time we went was for their phenomenal Valentine’s Day deal. So much food(and drinks) for a small sum and that’s where we were introduced to their carrot cake. The carrot cake is beyond heavenly. I have never been one for carrot cake before but I think it was only because I never had a slice so delicious. We can’t stop coming back now. The cupcakes are also divine(especially red velvet) — the frosting is just so good! I don’t know how they scooped up a pastry chef but they keep us coming back. Of course the coffee/tea/other food are all great as well but if you have a sweet tooth and haven’t visited Café Du Luxe you are missing out on the best Denton has to offer.

Friendly staff. Nice elevator music. The veggie sandwich I had was delicious but I could’ve made it at home so it wasn’t that special to me. Good place to kill time if you’re planning on seeing a movie(AMC theater is right across the street) but they sold out of tickets so you had to purchase the next showing 3.5 hours later.

I gave this 3 stars because it seemed only fair. What I look for in a coffee shop and what this place is are two different things, which is something I didn’t realize before coming here. I think this is an interesting, more upscale take on coffee, but it is not what I was expecting. First and foremost, WiFi is *NOT* free here. You have to sign up for a subscription service to use it, so being a student, no free WiFi is a deal breaker for me. I did not order coffee but ordered lunch. The chicken sandwich was tasty and the portions were certainly generous. It was a bit pricier than anticipated but overall, good food and decent service. It felt a bit pretentious here to me. Certainly not somewhere I feel I can go relax or go to read/study. If you are looking for a place that sells apparently very good coffee, has a nice assortment of food, has no free WiFi, plays loud elevator music, and caters to the 40+ crowd, this is your place. If you’re looking for a true coffee shop with free WiFi, a laid back/artsy feel, etc, you might want to look for another option.

This is one of my favorite places. First they are locally owned. I like the service — want an interesting time ask the baristas what they like and try one of their suggestions. I discovered the apple caramel drink this way — very tasty. Second their prices are lower than other coffee shops like this. Finally their support of local artists is both interesting and really makes the place feel like a home town favorite. I love them. Give them a try.

After a movie at Cinemark matinée, we decided to check out this relatively new coffee and wine bar in the Unicorn Lake(aka pond) area. We ordered a bottle of Prosecco and one person in our party ordered a coffee. I’m pretty sure the barista didn’t know how to open a bottle of Prosecco(same as Champagne). It took so long we initially thought the service was inattentive and possibly even rude, but I think they were just inexperienced and under trained. It took approximately 15 minutes to get the bottle and glasses delivered to our outdoor patio table even though there were only about 5 other customers. I would go back and give the place another try. The patio was nice and the wine selecton and pricing seemed pretty interesting. The food they served also looked pretty good. I’ll give this place the benefit of the doubt with 3 stars. The employees definitely need some support and training from their management/owners.

Denton’s best kept secret! A hidden gem in the developing Unicorn Lake district situated by the Cinemark Movie Theater. The owners are a husband and wife team David and Jana, who opened this place last year. Their vision of opening an elegant and sophisticated café in Denton was more than fulfilled in this hip yet cozy little joint. As soon as you step foot inside this meticulously decorated place, you are instantly transported into the urban swankiness of the big city. Now let’s get to what really matters: Coffee, wine and food — and the friendliest staff in any café anywhere! I have not had wine here, but I’ve seen many couples enjoying a bottle on the comfy leather couches and chairs. Their lattes are arguably the best in town and the food is to die for! The in-house chef creates salads, sandwiches, flatbread and appetizers as elegant as the café itself. A rare find in most run-of-the mill coffee shops! Check out their eclectic selection of house-made pastries, cakes and desserts. You can also use their handy drive-through. Also, they have great live music every Saturday from 8−10pm. The only reason this place doesn’t have more reviews is because not many know it’s here. Please give it a try!

This small café is ahead of the crowd! Of course everyone enjoys a «homey» or down to earth café every once in awhile, but with my experience sometimes the atmosphere in those cafes just isn’t what I’m feeling that night. If you’re up for a café experience that I would describe as «elegant», then this is the place to go. It looks like Wine, Coffee, Music, and Art are what the café shoots for as their main points – and they succeed! The café is always playing a different mix of music throughout the day, and I believe their«art wall» has displayed 3 or so different artists’ work. It really is the best place to go to have a glass of wine(or even beer!) to catch up with friends, or enjoy a romantic evening with you spouse. I’d just hate to compare it with other coffee shops in downtown Denton, because it just has a completely different style, it’s own genre! I think it’s ahead of the game because of it’s location in the Unicorn Lake area. I have a feeling in the next few years, that area will be the booming part of Denton. Now for the food. Not being a big meat eater, I chose the veggie sandwich on my first visit. It was great! Loads of fresh veggies with a bit of cream cheese(definitely go with the wheat bread). I was just afraid I wouldn’t enjoy it often since it seemed so simple. However, the next time I went into the café, one of the baristas suggest I try their house aioli on it. That made it perfect! I have so much trouble veering from this sandwich now that it’s my favorite. Also, their muffins! Well again, one in particular – the cranberry/orange/walnut muffin is amazing. If you take it to dine-in they warm it up to the perfect temperature and mmMmm, it’s to die for. But then I am a muffin lover! Coffee-wise, the Columbian roast is by far my favorite. I also saw the baristas putting latte art on the lattes they were serving which really made me smile =). The wine selection has a little bit of everything, even the option of purchasing some by the bottle! Beer selection is small, but I would say it serves it’s purpose.(At least includes a few of my favorite!) Music is great– such a mix. It’s acts as a conversation filler when talking with friends, «Hey! Remember listening to this when we were kids?»(or something of the such). I do hope the café considers live music in the future. Not necessarily someone strummming on a guitar, but instruments to fit the day, harp players on Sunday, quartets on Saturdays, etc. I think it could add to that elegant atmosphere! The art wall takes up a complete«wall» of the café, and is framed(which I think is perfect). So far the art has been fun, some really quirky which draws you to look at while waiting on your food. I took the time to write such a detailed review because I think the café has a great chance, but it’s up to us to give it that opportunity!
