Lukes Liquors

So, I am from upstate New York area & was a little skeptical about this liquor store as well as all of the others thinking it was going to be way overpriced but it was the exact opposite. This place is huge, with such a great selection of every type of alcohol and good prices! Everything that I saw was cheaper than back home which is always a plus! If I come back to the cape I definitely will be returning to this liquor store! The only negative I have is that my friend was looking for a white Zinfandel and she stated they were all crappy brands… Which is fine with me cause I don’t care for white zin anyways :-)

Great wines and great prices… I got a great price for a bottle of Chalk Hill Savignon Blanc. They sell Joseph Carr wines as well as Big Fire. The staff in the Harwich store are quite knowledgeable.

I hate to write this but I must. I have vacationed on Cape Cod for almost 20 years and never have I been so dissatisfied with one place. I bought several kegs from Lukes, along with several other items. Everything during this visit went fine. About 3 weeks later I went back to return the kegs and use the redemption center for about 3 barrels of cans and bottles. As I pulled into Lukes an elderly employee outside came right up to me and immediately attacked me saying «You better not bring more than one barrel in at a time». Very rude but I understood so I said ok and went on. When I was inside there was a sign that said «Please put bottles that are not accepted in this box» so from my understanding this meant if there were bottles not accepted, put them in this box right? No. I had about 3 cases of yuengling that they didn’t accept so I put them in this box and was immediately harassed by this employee, He made me go back in the box and dig them all out. Absolutely disgusting. He then went on to watch my every move over my shoulder to make me feel very uncomfortable. I then was done so I went to use some hand sanitizer and they were ok. So I asked if they had more, and the old man said «NO!» in a very rude loud mean tone. I then said I was going to speak to his manager because he didn’t know the first thing about customer service. The management at this place was very juvenile and seemed to not know the first thing about management. I will never recommend anyone going to this place. I will stick with local liquor stores, not chain stores.

I must say that I feel so super cool now that I have spent a long weekend on the Cape. Being from Cincinnati originally, I did not until very recently realize how much better seersucker pants, sundresses and mojitos are when on a tiny strip of Massachusetts sticking out into the Atlantic. Luke’s was the whole crew’s (17 people!) one stop shop for booze. The prices were super fair and the selection vast (even though I bought the same thing every night). 2 of the 3 times I was there, there were two people giving out samples (um…what could be better in a liquor store) which was really fun! Alas, I am sad there isn’t one in my neighborhood :(
