Grabbed an after lunch coffee before we hit the road. The barista was super friendly! We had a latte, cold brew, and Americans. Overall decent coffee and they give you a complimentary chocolate covered coffee bean.

This coffee shop was my favorite stop for lattes. The owner used to put a chocolate covered coffee bean on every cup and the lattes were delicious. The past 2 times I’ve been in there the same lady took my order. She was friendly the lattes were good and they accommodated the soy and almond milk request on my two lattes. My complaints are: 1) If there is anyone in line the wait is terrible. 2) They do not give out the complimentary chocolate covered coffee bean. 3) Most importantly, their lattes both times were barely warm. Guess I’ll be a customer of The Doghouse from now on. My suggestion is to pass Mocha Joe’s by and get your drinks elsewhere.

Went in the other day to grab some Coffee as I was heading home(about 40 minute drive). I love coffee and love trying new coffee shops, I have had great coffee all over the country. I ordered an Americano, and it really just tasted more like coffee flavored water. My guess is that the shot wasn’t packed very well, because it was run through in about 10 seconds. I let the barista know that it seemed a bit watery, and the response I got from her was«it’s an americano, it’s espresso and water.» I simply replied, that I have Americanos pretty frequently and they don’t tend to be this watery. That may be the way this coffee shop makes them, but I tend to prefer a little bit of a stronger and smoother cup, as well as friendlier service… Very cool look inside and outside, just disappointed with the results

For me, coffee shops can be a difficult thing to attach a star rating to, simply because of my experience in running them, but I will venture out and slap it with a three, mainly for it’s absentee owners and only semi-knowledgeable baristas. The location is well situated for those heading north, and only slightly inconvenient for those going the wrong way. The coffee is locally roasted and they have a great tea selection. The prices are a bit high compared to the un-named international coffee shop, whose logo is green and circular, and who has their own satellite radio station. I guess the comparison is only valid if there is a *bucks in the same vicinity, which is not the case here. Expect to spend $ 5.50 for a 16 oz. soy mocha, no frills, and $ 3.50 for a 16 oz. tea. Ouch! The interior is quaint and extends a welcoming gesture to the weary traveler, with a couple wing-back chairs and wall hanging of yesteryear’s aviational prowess. I strongly recommend asking for a yerba mate latte, which is not on the menu. It’s mild and soothing, at least until the caffeine enters the blood stream.
