This has become my most favorite winery by far! The barn itself is cute and quaint but if the weather permits you MUST go outside and see the grounds. There is plenty of farm animals just a stones throw away. Several bar tables located in shading and patio areas. If you have the stamina, trek up the mountain to the pergolas. There are two tables and four chairs with a panoramic view of the farm and the mountains. Something you can’t find around.

Fun place to do a tasting. They paid various food item with the wine, which is a nice touch. Wines were ok, nothing special. They were a little on the sweet side for me. I liked the Bridgetown Red. While this was the Bordeaux-style of blend it tasted more like a Tuscan red to me. Nice rustic county farm atmosphere in the tasting barn and the greater property. Worth checking out if you are in the area.

#GoodCopBadCop Make up your minds. We have been to this vineyard and have enjoyed the wines, you can get this caliper wine a lot of places in Virginia. We tend to choose the wineries that we frequent based on experience, however. We usually bring our small dog with us on these experiences. We called and confirmed that the dog was still welcome and we’re told the only restriction is that the dog be on a leash. In the past, and on this occasion, we had her with us. She was sitting with us on the couch(which is true of past visits as well), the owner came over and delivered food to our table, cleared the table next to us, and commented on how cute she is. Later(after an hour), we were approached by the owner’s wife who requested us to remove the dog from the sofa. If you have a policy, it should be communicated and consistent.

Very impressed with this location a wonderful Hidden Gem and easy to get away from all the traditional wineries the owners are on site and always enjoy giving you a taste of what is going on we went by to look at celebrating a venue there and I must say the views are gorgeous and overall the hole location is a very homey cozy feel which makes it that much better their overall choices are much greater than I anticipated and I must say that we cannot complain with the hospitality the drinks and the delicious donuts that they had we are certainly going to be returning soon I definitely recommend going there

I loved the rustic feel of this place. The dog friendly atmosphere puts it up there with the other Delaplane wineries like Barrel Oak and Three Fox Vineyards. Wines are great and the tasting is paired with bite sized morsels of food to compliment each varietal. Great experience over all.

Being a CA native am not an expert on VA wineries — but this spot is great. The ambiance is cozy and food pairings with the wine tastings adds a special touch. Friendly staff, all-round good experience and worth the trip.

In the cold winter months, I like finding wineries that allow dogs inside the tasting room so I can still enjoy my visit and bring my dogs. And I’ve been to BOW more times than I can count, so figured it was time to try something new. The wine at Aspen Dale is so-so. The food pairing with the wine is really nice — the«bites» they offer are VERY good and you can purchase them. Which you are going to want to do, particularly since the actual«bites» are itty bitty. As others have mentioned, the sangria is quite good, it was my favorite. The barn that houses Aspen Dale does get cold, and while there is a fire, that doesn’t warm the entire place. It looks like they had some seating outside for when the weather is nicer. Though not quite the view that other wineries have to offer, you can see firsthand what a working farm looks like.

Wine 3 stars, service 4 stars, facilities 5 stars! «Cozy» is the by-word here; out of the 100-ish wineries(and counting) I’ve visited, few approach the«home away from home» vibe that this place exudes. At 1000 cases/year, the word ’boutique’ doesn’t do it justice. But it’s all locally sourced, with only a tiny portion coming from grapes grown in their own vineyard. Aspen Dale is a working farm which at some point decided to get into the wine business. That makes more sense that you might think; as an agricultural enterprise, making wine is a good compliment for a farm. During the summer, they sell their produce in the winery, and the horses are out back. Larry — the owner and winemaker — was kind enough to give me the low-down on the place’s history. The tasting room is small-ish, with a warm bar area and a tiny upstairs sitting room. The later is my favorite. If this place as closer, I’d probably buy a bottle and read a book upstairs without a care. Sadly, I can only reach them on weekends. Aspen Dale can be busy but doesn’t get crowded — which probably is fine with the regulars. The only thing I didn’t like is it only has a single bathroom. Another thing that sets Aspen Dale apart is this is one of the very few places that does a food pairing with their wines. The bites are teeny tiny; a sliver of cheese, a piece of apricot, a chocolate; but what they serves makes all the difference. As for the wines? Well… wine is a personal taste, and while I generally didn’t dislike anything, there were only a few bottles I’d take home. What I tried… Whites: 2014 Mary Madeline Vidal-heavy blend; too sweet for me. Also Vidal heavy was the 2014 semi-sweet Sarah’s Chapeau… which was still to sweet. The 100% Shiplap Chardonnay was the only one I clearly didn’t like. Reds: The 2013 Rockawalkin Cab Sav heavy red-blend was my favorite. Actually I had two tastings, with goat cheese first then with a tad bit of spicy sausage. I enjoyed it both times but eve more so with the meat. The 2013 Parris County Merlot blend was OK. And the 2009 Bridgetown Red had a nice earthy nose. The other hit of the day was the Sangria, which I totally would have bought a bottle of but it was late in the day and they were sold out!

Very impressed with Aspen Dale Winery. The most impressive part was the food pairing that accompanied the tasting! No other winery that we have visited in the area do this! It was incredible. The wines are very good. Our favorite is the Bridgetown red. I knew I was going to love it before I ever tasted it. The aroma was captivating. The ambiance was very cozy. There is an abundance of seating and multiple fireplaces. I would highly recommend visiting this winery!

I loved this winery. Friendly staff. Cozy and warm. The serve actually cheese, sausage and chocolate to pair with/enhance the flavor of the wines! What a great touch — and the cost of the tasting is inline with other wineries, yet you get more! Their sangria is really good. We enjoyed a bunch of these wines and will definitely be going back to visit. It’s one of the closer wineries to the Fairfax area — just down 66.

Compared to the other two wineries we’ve gone to for the day, this winery was very cozy and warm. Walking in made me feel at home and it was small enough to be intimate with the guests. The owners are super sweet and welcoming. They’re very trusting and observant as well. When you do your wine tasting and want to lounge after, they don’t charge you until you’re finished and ready to go. They simply write down what you ordered and you pay when you’re ready. Your card isn’t even taken or anything. There is a cozy lounge room upstairs. You have to go up this tiny swirling stairs. Super cute. We got a little rowdy with our heads up game upstairs since it is a quiet and cozy place. There is only one restroom for everyone so that’s a little inconvenient especially if a lot of people have been drinking and need to tinkle. Also, there was a musician there — soft guitar female singer. My wife and I will definitely be back here. Oh yeah, their sangria is amazing!!!

Probably my favourite winery in this area that we visited, really nice setup inside and out. wines were pretty good. nice to pair with food. loads of outdoor seating. they were doing hot cider while we were there which was lovely!(but a little $$). Bread and olive oil snack was perfect! Would recommend as a winery if visiting the area.

We did a wine tour with a dozen of our neighbors around Delaplane, Va. We visited Aspen Dale, Blue Haven, and Three Foxes. All were decent, but Aspen Dale was our favorite. We emailed Larry about a week ahead of time to ensure space for our group. He got back to us promptly and was very accommodating. They had no problem accepting groups and did not have an issue with us arriving in a limo(We’d heard they aren’t allowed at some wineries). The property is beautiful and the Barn is rustic, warm, and homey. All the wines were decent to good and the mini food pairing was great. We had two people helping our group with the tasting, but I can only remember Brad’s name. Both were friendly and personable. We are definitely looking forward to our next visit and highly recommend this winery!

I went to Aspen Dale Winery on 8÷1÷15 with some friends. The ambiance of Aspen Dale is somewhere between your Grandmother’s living room and a rustic barn. This might make you think that is a bad thing. I can assure you it is not. The winery is comfortable and the service was average to good. I was a little perplexed when we arrived as a group(if you’re going to have a group of 10 more people you need to call or email ahead with your reservation) that they had no record of our reservation(I had received a confirmation email). After the confusion of whether or not I had made a reservation for our group of 10 was sorted out, we got our own server and were able to use the 2nd bar. Aspen Dale was also only winery we visited in the area that offered food pairings with their wine. My favorite thing(and the one thing I bought extra of) was their sangria. In a nutshell if you’re looking for a winery where you can avoid the sun and heat(they have limited outdoor seating) I would recommend Aspen Dale.

There are many wineries in Delaplane… In my opinion, this is not one of the best. If you want great wine, good pours and friendly, sincere service — Visit Delaplane Cellars! We’ve been to Aspen Dale a few times in the past, each time with friends who got there before us, bought a bottle and we just shared their company. We never really got a chance to do a tasting. This time we did a tasting and instantly noticed an odd price($ 8.55??) and that they only have one size glass, it’s a small port-style glass. The pours were very chincy and they started with the sweetest of wines and then went to their dry wines — completely backwards of any other winery we’ve ever visited. When we mentioned to the person giving us a tasting that it was odd to start with the sweet and then move to the dry wines, she explained it was lined up the way you eat a meal — FALSE! I don’t recall ever starting a meal with a port! LOL The tasting room was beautiful! It’s a very old barn and we luv quaint, old tasting rooms with character like this! Too bad the wines just barely tasted OK and they were wayyy over-priced too! The lady who provided us with a tasting was friendly, but not very sincere with the friendliness. Would we go back? Only to visit friends again, if they went. But otherwise, — we’ve been a few times now and we’re done, thanks.

Swoon. This place is just wonderful. I came here for a birthday party and it was the most amazing experience! The ten of us were driven here via a party bus so from loud and aggressive to breath taking views and quaint country living. It was like being back in Tennessee. Absolutely heavenly! The owner came forward and greeted us upon available and let us know that the tasting had been set up. He was kind and gracious! I highly suggest doing the tasting here! Not only do you get to sample every wine, but they give you a small food pairing as well. I have never had that before and it was just the touch to take this place above and beyond! The entire staff was just as lovely as the owner and the entire experience was so enjoyable. I know I might sound repetitive, but really if you are looking into wineries, put this one on your«must» list! Tips: Check out the mini-horses and goats! ABSOLUTELY do the wine tasting! Pack a picnic to eat outside! Indulge in the baguette and pairing plate! Try the olive oil!

Greg was a great host and explained the wine history and pairings very well. We totally enjoyed the food pairing option and wish the other wineries would get on board. This was our best experience after visiting several wineries in the area. The taste was much better here including the Rose and the red blends. Beautiful grounds and the best part of our experience was purchasing the cheese and meat platter! Great experience!

I have visited Aspen Dale twice now. The main reason I knew I needed to visit again is because I regretted not purchasing a block of sage cheese the first time around! As soon as I started my wine tasting during the 2nd visit, I announced that I’d, at the very least, be leaving with sage cheese. I have brought a different friend each visit, and we all agree that more wineries should do food pairings with their wine tastings. The food pairings here let me know how to best pay homage to the wine when I bring it home. Although the food pairings seem quite small at first glance, you quickly realize it’s worth the extra $ 1.55(most wine tastings are $ 7 in the region, but Aspen Dale’s tasting which includes the food pairing is $ 8.55). There is plenty of room outside to have a picnic during the warmer months. Most of the outdoor seats were taken during my last visit, but the field is large. Bringing a picnic blanket will solve any seating issues. I will definitely return.

Came here on a recommendation from another winery(don’t know if it’s a faux pas in the wine community to share), but it was a great recommendation. Such a nice place, and really made me feel like I was in a «wine country» setting. Gorgeous day, so most people tried to be outside. But we did the tasting which was paired with tiny bits of food. What a nice experience and unique to really see how wine and food can compliment each other. I really liked all of their wines. The winner had to be the Sangria. I was told this was the one I had to try and I would want to drink it all day. It was like drinking a minute maid juice. It was tasty all the way through and so so refreshing. This is the wine for any summer party or get together. We will be back again soon. Everyone should take the time to visit Aspen Dale for a great friendly wine experience.

This place is as good as it gets with Northern Virginia wineries. Their tasting consisted of six wines and a sangria sample that was paired with food and was very affordable at under $ 9! The service was friendly even though they were closing shortly after we arrived. My husband and I each had a glass and the fresh bread with olive oil. We also bought some sage cheese(sampled in the tasting) to go. The décor is cozy and cute with couches and comfy chairs and a few tables. The wines were great and I had nothing bad to say about any of them; Rockawalkin’ was a smooth red that really stood out. I can’t wait to return!
