Jack in the crack. Standards like tacos and cheeseburgers are always a fan favorite. JBox has always put out crazy and cutting edge food items but tin recent years the focus has been toward big flavorful burgers like the Buttery Jack. The Del Mar Heights JBox is different because the cashiers chat you up a bit if you dine in. They also seem pretty active on the busing of tables and mopping up the floor. It’s a good fast food option if you work in the area. — Tacos — Jack’s Secret Sauce — WiFi — Coke Freestyle machine.

Not much to say; its Jack in the Box. One of the better fast food chains. This one isn’t different from the other ones. Close to the ocean(kind of). Fast. Cheap.

Food is great, but the customer service on one of the young ladies working here was just the opposite of great. Did the drive thru, and she was practically making me hurry up my order. It wasn’t even rush hour! Food is great, but some of the employees need to work on that customer service.

This place is amazing. I don’t care how bad it is for you. It’s good for the soul. The cleanliness and hospitality were a added bonus as well. Food was fresh(fast food fresh) and tasty. I will definitely be back.

And on the third day, god created jack in the box tacos, and he was pleased. These things have been around seemingly forever and have always been divine. This is one of those foods where you either love it or you hate it and if you hate it you are wrong. It is literally the combination of my two favorite food genres, mexican and deep fried. Sure, there have been reports that the meat sauce doesn’t actually contain any meat but I’m ok with that(maybe even prefer it because it only makes it less risky to get sick off of). This particular jitb is always clean and the staff is friendly. It is probably the nicest jitb I’ve ever been to and I’ve been to a lot. Make sure you fill out the survey on the back of the receipt for 2 free tacos with any purchase! If done right, you can perpetually buy 2 tacos and get two free plus a receipt for two more free on your next visit. 25 cents per taco, can’t beat that!

Hey, what do you know, it’s the usual good food and I can understand the small voice in the box.

My first time at JIB and I am not a fan. I wanted to enjoy my experience and chose this location because it is owned by the corporation but was surprised how low the standards are. The restaurant was not clean. The employee handling my curly fries was not wearing gloves. The burger and spicy chicken sandwiches I ordered were not fresh — especially the hamburger meat, which tasted like it had been sitting around all day. I really wanted to like JIB but can’t say I would go back. Hopefully the food doesn’t make me sick.

Very«substitution friendly» in comparison to many other JIB locations. Close to the freeway, and open 24 hours(including dining room!).

no different from any other JBX… but it’s close to my house. most of the time they will even accept expired coupons(super cool!) the staff rotates quite often but they are always friendly and the restaurant itself is very clean.

I think Jack-in-the-Box is highly underrated. For a fast-food joint, this Jack-in-the-Box has a great atmosphere with their newly renovated storefront. I felt very comfortable eating here, the food was very affordable, but still delicious — I always order the $ 1 Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger. It’s also a great place to go at any time of the night, since they are open 24⁄7 — definitely a place where you bond with your closest friends at 4 in the morning.

Jack in the Box food is… well…Jack in the Box food. I don’t know if they recently changed staff but my experiences there have been fantastic. The staff is very helpful, polite, and friendly which sets a fast food place apart in my book. Nice inside seating, very clean. Not sure about these other horror stories but I’ve had nothing but pleasant experiences there… I may be getting lucky.

Came here for drive thru since it sits in the same shopping center as my bank. Needed a quick lunch as I was on my way back to the office. As I entered the shopping center, the drive thru was super long with about 5 cars waiting. Decided to hit the bank first and return. Come back and it was the same amount of cars. Decided to park and go inside to hopefully to have better luck. Walked in and there was only 2 people ahead of me. Nice! It was my turn to order and the gentleman behind the counter thanked me for waiting patiently. I placed my order of 4JIB tacos to go, and before I handed the cashier my payment, the 4 tacos were already placed in front of me. I was amazed with the quick service, and graciously thanked the employees for getting me in and out so quickly. Now, leaving the parking lot was a different story… Madness…

Let’s face it – all fast food is somewhat disgusting, unhealthy, and a likely culprit for expanding waistlines across America. I pretty much avoid it at all costs, unless I am pregnant and want to eat the entire T. Bell menu, or I’m on a road trip. So…just 2 stars. I like that they have more chicken choices than other fast food places, because ground beef is pretty gross and fast food ground beef puts me in fear for my life. Jack has decent salads too, which are about the only thing I can eat on their menu while keeping my dignity intact. For a treat, the shakes are pretty tasty – got the mint Oreo one for my daughter today as an after-soccer treat and I stole more than a few sips. :) Overall Jack is OK. It’s fast food, which I’d be hard-pressed to rate above 2 stars anywhere.

I’ve been to this Jack’s quite a bit when I worked in the area, or on drives up the coast where we want food without having to go far off the freeway. This one is right next to the freeway, and in general, I’ve had good experiences here, both dine-in and take-out. However, our most recent drive-through experience ended in woe. Our order was correctly and quickly prepared, but about 20 minutes after we ate it at home, my wife and I both had to evacuate our gastro-intestinal tracts. Not sure if it was just the fries that we shared, or my chicken ranch sandwich or the chicken strips. So sad. not a good way to start our New Year’s Eve. but after it seemed to pass, we were able to go out and celebrate. but the last dinner of 2010 — a punch in the gut.

I think I had the mother of all Jack in the Box horror experiences at this place. In the middle of a sleepless night of work, I decided I was going to get an early breakfast around 5AM and the only place nearby that was open was this Jack in the Box. I figured I’d get a quick bite of one of those breakfast sandwiches they’d been advertising everywhere and a coffee to tide me through the last bit of work I had to finish. Instead, I entered what was apparently a low-budget food horror film. After simply ordering a breakfast sandwich, I drove up to the window and waited behind one car for a few minutes. Then I waited even more. Then waited some more. After 15 minutes, the car in front finally lurched forward and left– perhaps without getting its order. I should’ve paid attention to the foreshadowing. But when I pulled up to the window, the guy inside was very nice and apologetic, promising me it wouldn’t be that long of a wait. After 10 minutes of seeing nothing, I called the guy over again. It would just be a few minutes more, he said. I grudgingly acquiesced to a few minutes more, but asked for something in the meantime– could he quickly make me a smoothie? He said sure, but a few minutes later came back and said sorry, that machine was broken. I asked for some coffee instead, and a few minutes later he came back apologizing that the coffee was broken too. Finally, I asked for a diet coke and where the heck was my sandwich? Coming right now, he reported, handing over a(fortunately free) large diet coke. All this time, he’s been yelling at what I assume is the cook, who doesn’t appear to speak English. Much motioning ensues and finally it appears that something is happening. At this point, 45 minutes had elapsed since I had entered the drive-thru of doom, so I had little to gain by driving off(sunk costs and such). 50 minutes after it started, my ordeal was over– one breakfast sandwich, comin’ right up. Had I not been in a caffeine/sleep deprived state of relative tranquility, I probably would’ve added a few select curse words, but as it was I just wanted to enjoy my hard-earned sandwich. The sandwich was horrible. The diet coke even had a metallic taste. I wrote Jack in the Box about this and they sent me back a coupon for $ 1. This may have been the worst visit I’ve ever had to a fast food place, ever. Thanks, Jack!

Jack-in-the box, what can I tell you? OK. I’ll tell you this: When I go to get fastfood, I don’t want to be upsold. I go there to get the cheapest food I can. So next time I come, which may be in the 22nd century, don’t ask me if I would like a small, medium or large combo. The commerial says $ 3.99 for the Jack combo and I asked for what was on the sign. Were you going to tell me how much more it was for medium or large? Didn’t think so. And when you asked me if I wanted, regular fries, curly fries, or onion rings, were you going to tell me the difference in price? Well, I know the answer to that one, because you didn’t. I opted for curly fries and the price went from $ 3.99 to $ 4.29. Is $.30 a big deal? Certainly not, even in the toughest of times. It’s the point that advertising makes it look like a seemless $ 3.99 deal and then consumers are quickly confronted with numerous choices, that unbeknownst to them, all come at different prices. Most people who get fast food are price sensitive. They are there to pay as little as possible, often at the expense of their own health. So offering different options whose prices are not clearly displayed is far out of line. But it got you an extra $.30 cents today. And you did it all day. And people just let it slide. And that’s the point isn’t it? Well, that won’t get you 1 star in and of itself. In addition to your deceptive pricing, your food made me sick. I got back from Del Mar Race Track this evening(See review) and well… not good. One-star. I’m going to try another Jack in The Box soon to see if they pull the same shit. Just kidding. I’m not really going back to Jack in the Box. But don’t worry Jack. I won’t bill you for the Immodium. Keep the thrity cents pal!

Standard fast food you might think, but try living without it for a few years and let me know how that goes for you. This place and In-N-Out are the only fast food joints I really go to. I’ve been eating at this Jack in the Box for over 10 years and it’s my favorite one, big drive thru and clean bathrooms. Jack in the Box has a weird sense of humor and somehow seems different from other fast food in quirky way. Love the fact that they serve breakfast all day, can’t understand why people like the gross mystery meat tacos. Favorites are the chicken sandwich, sourdough jack, and curly fries. I’ve been on a Jack kick lately because of the new smoothies, they are so damn good and half price from 2pm-4pm right now. I hope they keep doing that because the mango and strawberry banana ones are BOMB. Try them now!!!
